RATCLIFFE, Elsie Ada
The family of Elsie Ada RATCLIFFE are saddened to announce her passing in her 80th year, on Sunday March 2nd, 2008. They are very thankful to have spent their lives with such a strong, caring, woman who celebrated each day by surrounding herself with her most precious family and Friends. Loving wife of the late Keith RATCLIFFE (1998.) Devoted mother of Lynne (Bill) SHERIDAN, Don (Kim) RATCLIFFE, Al (Elaine) RATCLIFFE and Carol (Paul) CHAPMAN. Elsie was a wonderful "Nana" to her grandchildren Christine (Kent) GUY, Lynne (Joe) BROPHY, Teresa RATCLIFFE, Caitie, Jace, Landon, Keaton and Isaac RATCLIFFE, and Erin and Leah CHAPMAN. Great-grandmother to Ben and Samantha BROPHY and McKenna GUY. Much loved sister of Walter (Mary) MAY. Predeceased by her brothers Alfred, Bill and Chuck MAY. Elsie was a longtime member of Omar Temple No. 111, The Daughters of the Nile, Ladies Patrol and the London Sewing Circle. Elsie spent 35 wonderful years trailering at Lakewood Trailer Estates at Port Glasgow. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1997 Dundas Street (at Wavell), London. Service in the chapel Wednesday March 6th at 1: 30 p.m. Cremation to follow. There will also be visitation 1 hour before the service. Memorial donations appreciated to the London Regional Cancer Program or the London Health Sciences Centre Ace Team. GUY, Marjorie " Mickie" (née JELLEY)
Of London passed away peacefully at her Mount Hope Residence on Thursday July 3, 2008. Mickie was born in Weybridge, England in 1924 and came to Canada in 1946 as a bride with her dashing Canadian serviceman Harold John. She was predeceased by him and her parents Fred and Hilda JELLEY and her dear sister Audrey BAREFOOT. Mickie lived a full and generous life. She brought laughter, music and joy to every occasion. She was a wonderfully loving mother to Vaughn and Derek, a very warm and generous friend to her daughters-in-law, Mary Ann and Debbie. She indulged her four grandchildren Pamela (Toby JONES,) Andrew (Karin DAHM,) Devon and Darien with love, stories, gifts, songs and dance steps. She is also survived by her dear sister Vera Harrison and many nieces and nephews. The family recognizes the wonderful care and support provided by Doctor BRUBACHER, Pauline COUSINEAU and the 2nd Floor Staff of Saint Mary's. The thoughtful daily attention provided by Ann STEMP is remembered fondly. Mickie's family will receive her relatives and Friends at Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1997 Dundas Street (at Wavell), London, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday July 10th, 2008. A celebration of Mickie's life will follow in the chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held afterwards in the Forest Lawn Chapel. COLTERJOHN, Nigel Roger, M.D., (F.R.C.S.C)
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Dr. Nigel COLTERJOHN, age 47, on March 31, 2008. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Meighan, proud and loving father of Tristan, Nicola, Ainslie and Colin. Born in K.L. Malaysia on May 12, 1960, Nigel is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Libby) COLTERJOHN, mother-in-law, Elsie Ann FOSTER, brothers Michael (Moira), Richard (Angela), sister Shaenie (Graeme), brothers-in-law Kevin and D'Arcy FOSTER (Anne) and David GUY and sister-in-law Franca PERNA. He is pre-deceased by his father, Doctor Duncan COLTERJOHN, and his father-in-law, Hugh FOSTER. Nigel will be fondly remembered by his ten nieces and nephews, Ian, Andrew, Brock, Christine, Rebecca, Brendan, Duncan, Connor, and Annabel and Kiera. Nigel was a highly respected orthopaedic surgeon who specialized in joint replacement and reconstructive oncology, touching many lives in the community in the process. He was also a talented athlete, enjoying cycling, golf, skiing, whitewater kayaking and flyfishing. He was declared Trinity College's Athlete of the Year three times during his undergraduate years. Nigel attended medical school at McGill, completed his residency in Hamilton and completed Fellowship training in Toronto, Boston and Bologna, Italy. His diverse interests included a talent for cooking, a passion for drinking and collecting great wine, and a love of travel and experiencing foreign culture. Nigel's greatest pleasure, however, was his family. In spite of the constant demands of his work, he never failed to set aside time to spend with his wife and children. With our family mourn many Friends and colleagues who will remember his enthusiasm, energy, intellect, integrity and joie de vive. Special thanks to the Intensive Care Unit staff at Hamilton General Hospital for their exceptional and compassionate care. The family will receive all visitors at P.X. On Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Wyndham Manor in Oakville, our dear Mother passed away peacefully in her 92nd year. Daisy was born in Little Current, Manitoulin Island on May 29, 1916. Pre-deceased by her dear late husband Frank CROSLAND, and her mother, Florence McDOUGALL. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Pat and son-in-law Ken SMITH, and her son Lawrence and his companion Jane OAKES. She leaves four grandchildren: Jim and his wife Jackie, Graham and his wife Mary Ellen, Kenneth, Richard and his wife Wynsome. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Christina. Sadly missed by her sister-in-law Audrey LEE (CROSLAND.) Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. We regret to announce the passing of Jack WIGGIN on April 26th, 2008 in Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 87 years. With an M.Sc. and M.D. from Queen's University, as well as a PhD from Cambridge University, Jack had a distinguished career in medicine and health sciences that spanned six decades. Among his numerous accomplishments, he will be particularly remembered for his outstanding contribution to the advancement of Canadian clinical research and biomedical science. His many professional titles included Captain in the Royal Canadian Medical Corps., family physician, Chief Superintendent of the Defence Medical Research Laboratories, Deputy Chairman (Scientific) of the Defence Research Board of Canada, Director General of Research Programs and Scientific Advisor to the Minister of National Health and Welfare, Deputy Medical Director of the Canadian Red Cross Transfusion Service, Scientific Editor of the Canadian Medical Association Journal, Associate Professor in the McGill University School of Medicine, and editor as well as contributing author of several medical textbooks. A man of steadfast principle, unwavering integrity and extraordinary generosity, his proudest accomplishments, above all others, were as husband to his loving wife Mary of 63 years, father to two sons, John (Nancy) of Kimberley, British Columbia and Doug (Heather DOW) of Vancouver, British Columbia, three daughters, Pam (Bill SEMPLE) WIGGIN of Ottawa, Ontario, Carol WIGGIN of Victoria, British Columbia and Sue (Brian GUY) WIGGIN of Vernon, grandfather to ten grandchildren, Matthew (Karina HOULE) of Vancouver, British Columbia, Laura (Ryan) CAIN, of Cranbrook, British Columbia, Kate, Robb, Keara, Christopher, Geordie, Alex, Graeme, and Thomas and great-grandfather to Anna and Molly. Suddenly on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the age of 51. Beloved husband of Debbie GUYADER, loving father of Trevor, Mitchell and Katie. Dear son of Betty and the late Ray ANDERSON. Bill will be sadly missed by his siblings Diane WRAY (Brian,) Doug ANDERSON (Pat), Donna CORRIGAN (John), Wendy ANDERSON, Bob ANDERSON (Tricia) and his sister-in-law Kalene MORGAN and his many nieces and nephews. Bill was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother and uncle who loved his family, rugby, traveling and the farm. Bill was an active member of the Kingston Road United Church and the East End Refugee Committee. He had a long and distinguished career in the banking industry. Born in London, Ontario, January 8, 1923. Margaret passed peacefully in her sleep at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby on Monday, July 21, 2008. Beloved wife of Jack GROSS and mother of Linda, Mary, John (and Margaret), Catherine and Michael (and Andrea), and grandmother of Linnaea, Leo, Megan, Jakob, Hanna, Elizabeth and James. Margaret was predeceased by her sister Jean. Margaret was a graduate of Western University and was elected subprefect in her last year. Special thanks to Doctor O'DEA and her staff at the Family Medical Centre for their exceptional care. The family will receive Friends at the Vineland Chapel of the Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King St. on Wednesday 7-8: 30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Tallman Chapel on Thursday, July 24th at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
