At his home on July 9, 2008. Alvin JONES of Owen Sound in his 62nd year. Loving father of Tina JONES, Theresa JONES and Jay GOW and Tracy and her husband Rob GOWAN, all of Owen Sound. Sadly missed by sister Linda and her husband Alvin FELTIS and sister Trudy and her husband Brad RINGEL, all of Owen Sound. son of Patricia JONES. Predeceased by his father Frederick JONES. Cherished grandfather of Jacob GREER/GRIER, Austin HARDERS, Mason GOW, and Cole and Tessa GOWAN. A private family service will be held. Jim was born in Sudbury in 1936, special son of Carman and Alexine ELLIOT/ELLIOTT (LEFEBVRE) of Sudbury (both deceased,) brother of Shirley POFF (deceased) (Keith) of Belleville, John ELLIOT/ELLIOTT (deceased) (Min) of Markdale, Janet GALASSO (Pat) of Kingston, Nancy FARWELL (Dave) of Orillia. Predeceased by nephew Christopher POFF (Christine KEMPI) of Port Dover, and survived by many nieces and nephews, Vicki SIMONS (Rodney) of Belleville, Liz GOW (Bob) of Orillia, Barb BLACK (Jeff) of Oakville, Tom ELLIOT/ELLIOTT (Lisa) of Cobourg, Rob ELLIOT/ELLIOTT (Shirley) of Stamford, Connecticut., Peter ELLIOT/ELLIOTT (Katie MORRISON) of Midhurst, Kari GALASSO (Ken ARNOLD) of Inverary, Linda GALASSO (Kevin ARMITAGE) of Mill Valley, California., Michael GALASSO (Kelly) of Waterloo, Kim FARWELL of Ft. McMurray, and Jane POSTMA (Scott) of Dundas. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews. Jim was a graduate of the University of Western Ontario. He will be interred in Sudbury. There will be no public visitation or funeral. A celebration of Jim's life will be held in Sudbury at a later date. The family would like to thank Suzanne CRAWFORD and her staff at Saint Anne's Place, Toronto, for supporting Jim as he lived his life in the last four years, on his own terms. Thanks also go to the staff of Saint_Joseph's Health Centre for their kind and caring treatment in Jim's last days. In her 94th year at North York General Hospital on June 15, 2008 Helen succumbed to complications from her second stroke, having lived a full life of consideration for and service to others. Helen, beloved wife of the late Hillyard. Dearly loved and missed by her children Carolynn and John and his wife Marjorie and cherished grandchildren Laura and Alan GOW and their father Ron. Held also in loving memory by her niece, Ada DICKSON/DIXON, together with her husband Brian DICKSON/DIXON, and by her faithful sorority sister Margaret BEASLEY. Memorial service in the chapel of Trull Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 1111 Danforth Avenue (east of Donlands subway) on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 1: 00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. On Saturday, May 10, 2008 at L.H.S.C. Wendy Verline (COOK) GOWAN, in her 63rd year, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Wendy is predeceased by her parents Stan and Julia COOK. Surviving are her brother Calvin (Bernadette) of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia and sister Mary COOK of London. She will be sadly missed by her children Perry (Lisa) McMILLAN of Dutton, Lisa NEWMAN (Randy OSSELL) of Eagle, Les (Tonia) CAMPBELL of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Laura CAMPBELL (Trevor ALVIS) of Boissevain, Manitoba and grandchildren Jamie and Alicia McMILLAN, Adam and Clarissa NEWMAN, Randy OSSEL Jr., Brice and Jenna CAMPBELL, Delaney ALVIS and great-grand_son Trent NEWMAN. Also left to mourn are her extended family on Kiwanis Park Dr: Barney, Mike and Lori, Dave and Karen, Chris and Andrew and niece Patti KELLY. A heartfelt thank you to Sandra ADAM/ADAMS and Wayne ARNOLD for all the Friendship, compassion and assistance given to Wendy and her family in their time of need. Mrs. Irene Florence GOWDY, age 93, passed away peacefully at Greenwood Court, Stratford on Monday, February 25, 2008. She was born in Chatham, New Brunswick. Daughter of the late David and Florence STILL. Irene was active most of her life in girl guiding, nursing and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. She was a member of the Ontario Street Baptist Church, Stratford. Predeceased by her husband William K. GOWDY in 1982, by a daughter and son-in-law Pam and Alex L'HEUREUX, by her son David GOWDY and daughter-in-law Brenda GOWDY. Survived by her children Glenna JENSON, Ken GOWDY, Brent GOWDY and wife Betty, Nancy CLIFTON and husband Arnie, all of Kitchener; daughter-in-law Janet GOWDY, London; 40 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Surrounded by family at her home, on July 9th, 2008, in her 81st year. Predeceased by her husband, Robert, and her sister, Jean. Survived by her brother, Ted; sister-in-law, Jean; children, John, Elizabeth, Barbara and Mary; grandchildren, Sarah, Christopher, Robert, Emily and Laura; daughter-in-law, Jo Ann; sons-in-law, Ray and Christopher; grand_son-in-law, Chris; and by her nieces, nephews and many Friends. Claire's marvelous sense of humor, independent spirit and devotion to Tiger Woods never left her. She was a much-loved woman who accepted the inevitability of her death with great courage and humility. Her absence in our lives will be deeply felt. In her 87th year. Predeceased by her husband Edgar ("Ted") WILDGOOSE. Survived by her cousin Charles GOWER and his wife Doraine, their children and grandchildren, and members of the WILDGOOSE family. Norma was born in South Wales and came to Canada as a war bride after the Second World War. She enjoyed a successful career in the fashion industry, including serving for 26 years as Fashion Co-ordinator for the Merchants' Association of Yorkdale Shopping Centre, where she co-ordinated and commentated fashion shows. The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation to Ms. Elvie AGLERON for her kindness and caring attention to Norma during her final months.
