PLUMMER, Mervyn▼ Albert▼
Mervyn PLUMMER of Duncan, born in Collingwood Township, a son of the late Earl Milton and Wilda Viola (née WILKINSON) PLUMMER, passed away in Meaford on Friday, July 4, 2008 at the age of Mervyn was well known in the local area communities and surrounding area as he was always interested in vehicles and equipment and he loved to drive. Before returning to farming Mervyn enjoyed a brief career in trucking which included a bread delivery route, livestock cartage and gravel trucking for area construction projects.
After returning to farming Mervyn still enjoyed his vehicles and was well known to area implement dealers as he was always interested in what was new in the industry. He also drove many students for several years on a local bus route. Mervyn also enjoyed the outdoors and the pleasures of nature and hunting. He was a devoted and valued member and supporter of Kolapore Calvary Church of the Nazarene.
Mervyn was the beloved husband of 36 years of the former Lois HALLAM and he will be lovingly remembered as Dad and Grampa by his son Paul and grand_son Seth of Quesnel, British Columbia, daughter Connie and her husband Marc DEN BOK and their son Andrew of Duntroon, and by his son James and his wife Michelle also of Duncan.
Mervyn▼ was a loved brother of Eunice PLUMMER of Creemore and Marjorie (late Gary) WELLER of Douglas and he predeceased by a brother Ernie PLUMMER and will be remembered by his wife Audrey of Collingwood.
He will also be remembered as a dear son-in-law of Sadie HALLAM of Feversham and brother-in-law of Barb and Walt SHIER of Feversham, and Bonnie and Wayne DAVIDSON of Orangeville.
Mervyn's family received many Friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home, The Valley Chapel, in Thornbury on Monday afternoon and evening and funeral services, officiated by Pastor Terrence GOUDY, were conducted at Kolapore Calvary Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday, July 8, 2008.
Special music was provided by Roger and Lora DINSMORE, and Terry and Jan CARSCADDEN and by pianist Carrie CARSCADDEN. son Paul delivered remembrances of his Dad on behalf of the family and nieces Melanie CATHCART and Karen Davidson offered selected scripture readings. Former Kolapore Pastor Mark ROYALE closed the service with prayer and delivered the benediction.
A service of committal and interment followed at Feversham Presbyterian Cemetery with nephews David and Bruce PLUMMER, Lee WELLER, son-in-law Marc DEN BOK and sons Paul and James PLUMMER serving as pallbearers, Mervyn's▼ daughter-in-law Michelle PLUMMER and his daughter Connie DEN BOK served as flower bearers.

Passed away at Saint Michael's Hospital on July 20, 2008. Wife of late Wendall Harrison GOUGH. Survived by her three children Louise, Robyn and Stephen and her grandchildren Kathryn, Spencer and Leland LAMB. Born in Montreal in 1933 and married in 1957. Shirley earned a nursing degree and was President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Lion's Club in St. Burno, Quebec. She raised a family and was an active member of her community and will be remembered by her family and Friends. Friends will be received at Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W. on Monday, July 28th from 12 p.m. followed by the service at 1: 00 p.m. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

MacDONALD, Carolyn Ann (née DOBSON)
It is with great sadness that the family of Carolyn Ann MacDONALD (née DOBSON) announce her passing. Carolyn was beautiful, intelligent and talented, an athlete, student, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved to welcome people into the family home and was renowned for her warm hospitality and exquisite food. She and her husband Michael travelled widely, eagerly experiencing new countries and cultures. Whether cycling in France, sailing in Turkey or camel rides in Jordan her enthusiasm and beautiful smile inspired all those she encountered along the way. An interest in learning continued throughout Carolyn's life; she was an avid Francophile who undertook the study of the French language both in Quebec and France and with equal interest embraced the literary and culinary cultures. She went on to be Vice-President of the Alliance Français Edmonton. Carolyn was born in Bournemouth, England on April 22, 1933 to an English merchant seaman father and Nova Scotian mother (Gertrude DOBSON née WEEKS.) Her father, Lt. Commander Andrew Hedley DOBSON, officer commanding HMCS St. Croix, was killed in action in the Battle of the Atlantic in 1943. The terrible loss of the St. Croix with all hands but one was, at that time, Canada's largest naval disaster and is memorialized in the 1997 book Deadly Seas. Carolyn grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia and attended Queen Elizabeth High School (1949-1951). After high school she went to the University of Toronto on a full scholarship studying Physical and Occupational Therapy and graduated top of her class. At University of Toronto she played Varsity Women's Basketball winning an Ontario Intercollegiate Championship. She returned to Halifax and in 1957 she married her high school beau Michael. They have four daughters, the first three born in Halifax and the youngest in Edmonton where they have made their home for the last 42 years. Even after moving West, Carolyn always retained her links to and love of Nova Scotia. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband and first grade classmate Michael, daughters Nancy, Sarah (Martin GOUIN), Eve (Keith TRACEY), Barb (Ian COLLOMBIN,) and grandchildren Justin GOUIN, Andrew JAYCOCK, Anna GOUIN, Lauren GOUIN, Isabelle GOUIN, Luke COLLOMBIN, Taylor COLLOMBIN, Eve COLLOMBIN, and her brother Doctor Tom DOBSON, as well as a large and extended family of brothers and sistersin-law, nieces and nephews (plus loyal companion, golden retriever Ryder). Her parents, sister-in-law Jean DOBSON, and brother-in-law Kirk MacDONALD predecease her. Carolyn bravely battled illness these last 15 months with the dignity and generosity of spirit that those who loved her knew well. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the University of Alberta Hospital (4G3), the Glenrose Hospital and the General Hospital (9Y) for their care and compassion. In Newport Beach, California. Born in Uxbridge, Ontario to Thomas and Alma GOULD and predeceased by siblings Thomas Bruce, Winnifred (Mac) CANNINGTON, Russell Herbert (Florence) and nephew Glenn. Survived by his loving companion, Anne McKNIGHT and family; children, Marilyn Anne (MORTIMER- LAMB), Sheila Arlene, Grant Anthony (Dianna) grandchildren Geoffrey, Stephanie, Jaimie, Kimberley and Sasha sister-in-law Eileen GOULD- BAILEY of Uxbridge, nephew Doctor Tom JOHNSON and family of Lindsay, Ontario, niece Mary Jane PRESTON and family of Port Hope, Ontario. Also survived by Gia DESILVA, his assistant, devoted friend and caregiver in his final days, and dear Ed O'SULLIVAN, thank you. Dad graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School and interned at the Ottawa Civic Hospital before joining the Royal Canadian Navy in World War 2 where he met and married Sheila NEIL, R.N. Upon residency at the Halifax Naval Hospital, Nova Scotia, he was posted overseas, serving on the HMCS Regina. In the Normandy invasion, his ship was torpedoed while rescuing survivors in the English Channel. Blown off the bridge and with a crushed chest he performed heroic surgical and medical care of the crew for which he was decorated by King George VI. Brilliant physician and general surgeon, accomplished pianist, small-aircraft pilot, magician, honorary member Newport Beach Tennis Club, mechanic to his 2-door. '70 Cadillac DeVille convertible, craftsman and devoted animal lover, to name a few of his many talents and loves. A tremendous intellect and unique human being, you will be greatly missed, Dad. Passed away peacefully on Saturday June 14, 2008 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at the age of 82, surrounded by his 4 loving daughters; Leslie BUSH- HARRISS, Kimberley GOULD, Kerry COOK, Lindsey DRAGONE. Survived by his wife Dorothy and his sons-in-law Hal GOULD, Mike COOK and Nick DRAGONE. Lovingly remembered by his 8 grandchildren, Daniel HARRISS, Hallie and John GOULD, Jordan and Barrett COOK, Frank, Dana and Cole DRAGONE. Also survived by his sisters Audley (George) JACKSON, North Carolina; Beverley MURRAY, Toronto and Linda BRESNAHAN, Massachusetts, and their children.
Born Verdun, Quebec 1925; served as Seaman for R.C.N. and R.N. and on H.M.C.S. Snowberry 1943-45. Member of P.E.O., A.P.P.E.G.A., I.E.E.E., U.N.T.D. (Upper Canada) and Zeta Delta of Sigma Nu.
Ley grew up in Montreal, and maintained ties with Friends, colleagues and family there after he left to enlist in the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 17. His service in the navy on the H.M.C.S. Snowberry, and particularly its role during the preparation stages of D-Day, had a profound effect on his life and he continued his association with the Canadian Naval Association until his death. As a veteran, he attended memorial services held in Canada, Normandy and recently at the 60th anniversary of the V.E. Day celebrations in The Netherlands.
Upon his discharge from the service, Ley travelled to Toronto where he met and married Dorothy MOUNTJOY. He then enrolled at the University of Toronto and obtained his Electrical Engineering Degree. He was passionate about his chosen profession and only retired, reluctantly, in his seventies. His career allowed him to indulge another passion: travel, and he worked on many projects abroad, including Europe, Hong Kong and The Phillippines.
Ley and Dorothy had four daughters in quick succession, who subsequently married and provided him with sons-in-law, and eight grandchildren whom he adored. Poppa was devoted to his grandchildren and has left them all very special memories of family ski trips, evenings at the horseraces, and amusing tales and anecdotes from his childhood.
He will be thoroughly missed and his memory cherished.
Ley passed from this life as he lived it: unfailingly civilized, considerate and dignified. Rest in peace Dad.

At the West Haldimand General Hospital, Hagersville on January 26, 2008, Ken DRAPER, age 78 years, beloved husband of Grace (GOULD) DRAPER for 57 years. Loving father of Terry DRAPER and Sandy BOWSER, dear grandfather of Alex, Adam, Sarah, Stephanie and Cilian, brother of the late Robert and Billy DRAPER. Ken and Grace are members of the Sandusk Golf Course and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164, Hagersville. The family will honour Ken's life with a visitation at the Hyde and Mott Chapel, R.H.B. Formerly of Saint Thomas, passed away at Extendicare, Port Stanley on Monday, February 25, 2008, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Clifford L. SANDERS (2005.) Dearly loved mother of Donald SANDERS and his wife Cheryl of Frankford, Robert SANDERS and his partner Louise GOUR of Carleton Place, and the late Patricia "Patti" MONTGOMERY (2007) (her husband Gerald of Saint Thomas.) Cherished grandmother of Jacob "Jay" and Adam MONTGOMERY, Larissa, Matthew, Danielle, Brett, Erin, Megan, and Gregory SANDERS. Dear sister of Ruby GUMBERT of Dundas. Also remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister, Lily BARNETT and four brothers, Ted, John, Joe and Tom SOUTHALL. Born in Dundas, Ontario, April 17, 1923, Ada came to Saint Thomas in the late 1940's. She was the daughter of the late John and Ada Mary (CARTER) SOUTHALL. Ada formerly attended St. Hilda's-St. Luke's Anglican Church as well as Saint_John's Anglican Church, Saint Thomas, where she was an active choir member. She loved to cook and share recipes. Friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, Saint Thomas on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held Saturday at 11: 00 a.m. Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park. At London Health Science Centre-University Hospital on Sunday, February 17, 2008, Anna (MacCUAIG) McRae McFarlane in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late John Edgar McRAE and the late Kenneth McFARLANE. Devoted companion of James GOURLAY. Loving mother of Janna STEPHAN and her husband Tom of New Jersey. Dear grandmother of Jesse, Brendan, Kylie and Nathan. Great-grandmother of Kloey, Isabella, Ashley and Daniel. Anna will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Shaun Arthur McRAE, by her parents John and Lusanna MacCUAIG. Anna taught for many years in Glengarry County and Wallaceburg area. Before retiring in 1977 she taught art at Wallaceburg District Secondary School for several years. Cremation has taken place. Passed away June 19, 2008, peacefully, of old age, in his 94th year. Mourned by his loving wife of 62 years, Frances, his daughter Eileen MERCIER (Charles HANTHO,) his son Jim (Kristi GOURLAY,) five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his five siblings and his son-in-law Ernest MERCIER. Born in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, in 1914, he and his family emigrated to Edmonton in 1929. He joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in April 1940 and retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1966. He finished his working career with the Immigration Service in Fort Erie, Ontario and finally retired in 1979. He lived and worked in a world of right and wrong, of good and bad, where he played a small but important part in making that world a better and safer place. He loved and was inordinately proud of his family and their accomplishments while minimizing the importance of his own. We will miss his stories and lessons drawn from the great literary and historical texts he loved to read, while trying hard to remember them all. There will be no funeral service, at his request. Donations, for those so inclined, could be directed to the Frances Falconer Nursing Scholarships at the Toronto General and Western Hospital Foundation.
