MARTIN, Louis (1935-2008)
At Pavillon Alfred-Desrochers, on January 22, 2008, following a long illness passed away Louis MARTIN, journalist. He leaves to mourn his wife, Hélène FILION, his three sons and daughters-in-law, Nicolas (Élise DESJARDINS,) Stéphane (Maya HARTLEY) and Alexis (Claire GEOFFRION,) his grandchildren: Béatrice, Gabrielle, Laurent, Zoé and Éloi. son of the late Joséphine DÉCARY and the late Hector MARTIN, he was the brother of Fernande (Pierre JUNEAU,) the late Suzanne (the late Pierre BLONDIN,) the late Denise (Francis CORBETT,) Yves (Louise-Marie CHOUINARD,) Geneviève (Gilles BEAUSOLEIL,) Françoise (André LAMY,) Luc (Louise BOUCHARD,) Hélène (Michel BRÛLÉ.) He also leaves to mourn his sisters-in-law and his brother-in-law from the Filion family, as well as many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grand-nieces. The family will receive condolences on Friday, January 25, 2008 from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, January 26 starting at 9: 30 a.m. at: Alfred Dallaire Memoria 1111, Laurier West, Outremont www.memoria.ca 514-277-7778 Valet Parking where at 11 a.m. a memorial ceremony will be held. Peacefully, at Hellenic Care for Seniors on Sunday May 18, 2008 in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Michael GEORGAS. Leta is predeceased by her sisters Athena and Lambrini and brother Stephen, and survived by brothers Panagos and Dimitri, sister-in-law Evelyn GEORGAS, children George (Jean,) Angelo (Muriel,) Lorraine (Richard Dahl), Stephen (Anne), and grandchildren Gregory, Susan, Jennifer, Joanne, Richard, Nicole, Michael, Deana and Peter, and great-granddaughters Morgan, Amber and Georgia.
Leta was devoted to her husband, Michael, and an inspiration and tower of strength to her children.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hellenic Care for their warmth, kindness and attention to Leta's needs while she resided in their care.

At Sarnia General Hospital on Saturday January 19, 2008. Virginia Henry (née RITCHIE) of Sarnia and formerly of Saugeen First Nation in her 68th year. Virginia was a well respected Teacher, Song Writer and Story Teller of the First Nation Culture. Dear mother of Loretta HENRY of Kitchener, Jennifer HENRY and her partner Patrick BAKER, Sonja GEORGE, and Candice HENRY and her partner Nathan WILLIAMS, all of Sarnia. Also survived by her brothers, Paul RITCHIE, Philip RITCHIE, Gabriel RITCHIE, Timothy RITCHIE, all of Saugeen First Nation and by her sisters, Rita JACOBS of Sagamok, Diane RITCHIE, Sharon SOLOMAN and Glenna CAMERON all of Saugeen First Nation. Sadly missed by her 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and by her students of all ages. Predeceased by her parents Wilson and Georgina RITCHIE, by her brother, Reginald and by her infant daughter Margaret. A great inspiration to her grandchildren: Adam, Jess and Anna, Amy and Craig, Amanda and Joe, Aarika, Robbie, Katie, Brody and Mandy, Tara, Ashley, Scott, Bryan, Lauren, Jimmy, Kevin and Eddie. Doug was predeceased by his parents William BARNARD (1983,) and Thelma BARNARD (nee: YOUNG) (1994.) Beloved brother of Don and Janis BARNARD of Tillsonburg. Loving uncle of Derek (Christine) BARNARD of Straffordville and their children K.C. and Morgan; Stacey BARNARD and her friend Alex of Phoenix, Arizona; Christine BARNARD of Tillsonburg. Doug was a former employee of Jackson Bakery, and for many years was manager of the Concession Booth at the Tillsonburg Arena. He was also a security guard at Mohawk, and Greenwood Raceways. Doug will be remembered as an outstanding baseball pitcher in the Tillsonburg Minor Ball System. Doug was also an avid sport fan of the Detroit Tigers. Passed away at University Hospital, London on June 21, 2008. William "Allan" GOLDHAWK, of Petrolia, at the very end of his 72nd year, born in Warwick Township on July 2, 1936. Beloved husband and best friend of Debbie (née GILLETT,) and loved father of Betheny, new grandfather of 18 day old Quinntin Allan and future father-in-law of Christopher. Predeceased by his parents Bill and Beatrice (née McRAE) GOLDHAWK and his sisters Valda GEORGE and Gwen RUNNALLS and brother-in-law Bob GEORGE. Survived by sisters and brothers - Liz (Jerry) SPENCER, Linda (Pete) LEVECQUE, Wendy (Bill) VANOS, Les (Diane) GOLDHAWK, Vern GOLDHAWK and brother-in-law Wayne RUNNALLS (Sandra) plus many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Allan will be remembered for his positive and happy outlook on life, his big smile and an honest laugh. Allan was a retired Boilermaker at Local 128, Sarnia. Loving sister to James MacPHERSON (Dorothy,) Isabelle MacPHERSON and Marilyn GEORGE (Stanley.) She was predeceased by her brothers Robert and Donald MacPHERSON and her sister-in-law Josephine. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Peggy and Barbara. Dear Aunt Betty to many nieces and nephews and their families. Betty was a member of the head Office staff of S.S. Kresge Company, Canada for 47 years and a lifelong member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Toronto. Betty will be sadly missed by her dear friend Kay CAMPBELL. Peacefully, at home with his family, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Dorothy for 56 years. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Terry was the oldest son of Charlie and Monica MURPHY of John Street. When he graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School at the age of 22, Terry became the youngest person in Ontario to be called to the Bar. He served a term as Alderman for the City of Sault Ste. Marie in 1965 and was elected to serve as the Liberal Federal Member of Parliament for the riding of Sault Ste. Marie from 1968 until 1972. During this time, he served on the Justice Committee and also chaired the North Atlantic Assembly, a post that required him to visit all the North Atlantic Treaty Organization countries. In 1980 he was appointed as a Judge for the District of Sudbury/Manitoulin, where he sat until his retirement in 2000. In 2005, Terry was honoured to be formally acknowledged by The Advocates' Society, in the book Learned Friends, as one of fifty of the finest advocates practising in Ontario from 1950 to 2000, who exemplified the very highest standards of advocacy and shaped the legal profession in the province. Terry lived life well, with no regrets. He loved his family, music, good wine, good food, stimulating conversation, Dorothy's flower gardens, and the rugged beauty of Northern Ontario. Friends may call at the Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario P6A 5K7 705-945-7758) on Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday July 16, 2008 at Precious Blood Cathedral at 11: 00 a.m. with Monsignor Bernard BURNS officiating. Passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital's Veterans' Wing after a courageous battle with cancer. Devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 60 years Dorothy (BOOTH,) daughters Carol, Patricia (Peter BALL) and Barbara (Ed GULBINAS) and his granddaughter Charlotte. Loving brother to Isabelle MacPHERSON and Marilyn GEORGE (Stanley.) He was pre-deceased by his brothers Robert and Donald and his sister Elizabeth McCULLOUGH. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Peggy and Barbara and his brother-in-law John BOOTH (Jeanne.) He was a loving uncle to many nieces, nephews and their families. Jim devoted his working life to insurance as an underwriter and manager. He was an elder and trustee of Willowdale Presbyterian Church for many decades. The family is deeply grateful to all the staff for the thoughtful care he received while at Sunnybrook. Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will take place on Saturday July 19 at 11 a.m. at Willowdale Presbyterian Church (38 Ellerslie Avenue, Toronto).
