SCHMIDT,
Krystyna (née
GASIOROWSKI)
Loving and devoted daughter of Stanislaw and Francesca, both
predeceased, and cherished wife, partner and soul mate of Frank.
With a profound sadness and sense of loss we announce the passing
of Krystyna at 1: 15 in the afternoon on Valentine's Day, 2008
in the Palliative Care Unit of Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto
- an appropriate day of transition for a passionate lover of
life, truth and beauty as was Krystyna. Krystyna brought to all
dimensions of her life a style and grace that was instant, precise,
generous and caring. To her careers that included a leading role
in the creation of the David Wood Food Shop in the 1980's, a
time during the 90's as Manager of Catering at Massey College,
and her final stop as Manager and Buyer for the Gift Shop at
Saint_Joseph's Health Centre, Krystyna's elegant touch, drive for
perfection and classic oneliners became her hallmarks and the
touchstones of her charisma. To her many Friendships Krystyna's
integrity, loyalty, absolute practicality and sense of what is
right provided connections and memories that will be held forever
close to the hearts she loved, and fuel stories of joy, mirth
and awe that in the re-telling over the coming decades will hold
her close to them. To her home and life with Frank, Krystyna
brought her considerable tool kit for creating beauty, and an
inexhaustible faith in the power of goodness and love to shine
through and prevail over any resistance that life might present.
Her home, her garden and her famous meals and their presentation
were a true reflection of her soul - one that she and Frank opened
and shared in many memorable ways over the years. Krystyna's
'A-Team' (the 'triumvirate', as she described us) and her extended
support circle through these last years, her guide, mentor, wide
circle of Friends and many business acquaintances send her spirit
on - through her life we have all glimpsed beyond into the goodness
and majesty of the Infinite Power. All of us have been enriched.
Krystyna is resting at Turner and Porter's Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor
Street West, Toronto for visitation on Monday, February 18, 2008 and
Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 2: 00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m.
to 9: 00 p.m. each day. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday,
February 20, 2008 beginning at 11: 30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Roman
Catholic Church, 12 Denison Avenue, Toronto. Interment in Park
Lawn Cemetery will follow the service. All participating in Krystyna's
passing wish to express our deepest thanks for the care we received
from the Director and all staff of the Palliative Care Unit at
Princess Margaret Hospital. Donations of flowers and/or contributions
in memory of Krystyna to the Princess Margaret Palliative Care
Foundation - the Palliative Care Unit will be gratefully accepted.

GASPARD,

It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Frederic
GASPARD on January 15, 2008 in Puerto Madryn, Argentina after
a brief illness. Frederic is survived by his wife Inge and two
sisters Marguerite
GASPARD,
Edy
CHERNIACK, and brother-in-law
Reuben CHERNIACK, plus many nieces and nephews.
Fred was president and Chief Executive Officer of Gaspard and Sons,
a successful manufacturing company, with a head office and factory
in Winnipeg, plus branch offices in Toronto, Minneapolis, and
two factories in Puerto Rico. His interest in business was keen
and an enormous source of stimulation to his analytical mind.
He had diverse interests; he was a private pilot, and for years
enjoyed the challenge and sport of flying, joining Friends on
numerous adventure trips to northern Canada and Alaska. His interest
in fine foods and dining was legendary, he was a current member
of the Bakers Dozen and Chaine de Rotisseurs.
Fred loved classical music and remained a strong supporter of
the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. He was a world traveller, no
trip was ever too long or far away, a natural adventurer he made
Friends wherever he travelled. Travelling inspired a deep interest
in photography both video and still. His talent as a photographer
developed through the years, the latest state of the art camera
was his constant companion. Lake of the Woods in the summer was
his refuge and great joy. No world trip was ever planned in the
summer because no place held more fascination for him in that
season than the beautiful Lake of the Woods.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 23 at 11: 00 a.m.
in the St. Ignatius Church, Corydon and Stafford.
