Mary passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2008, in her
93rd year, at Providence Healthcare in Toronto. Born March 15,
1916 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. Predeceased by her loving husband
Norman and her sister Hilda. Mary will be dearly missed by her
brother Frank, her nieces and nephews as well as her many cherished
and loving Friends. Mary, a teacher for 44 years had a full and
active life with music being a life long pleasure, as an educator
she leaves a legacy of the many lives she touched. The family
is grateful for the excellent and loving care provided by everyone
at Providence healthcare. Visitation will be held at the Lynett
Funeral Home, 3299 Dundas St. W. (one block East of Runnymede
Road) on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of
Christian Burial Thursday May 15, 2008 at St. Cecilia's Church,
161 Annette Street, Toronto at 11: 00 a.m. Interment to follow
at Holy Cross Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be

Masonic Lodge, the Rameses Shriners Temple and The Royal Canadian
Legion. Decorated World War 2 Veteran who joined the Armed Forces
while underage and saw active duty overseas. Graduated with Honours
from Forestry school in New Brunswick, eventually relocated to
Ontario and worked in the aircraft industry for many years, including
the famed Avro Arrow. Retired from the Ontario Ministry of Corrections
to enjoy a life of leisure, travel to Cuba and cooking. Famous
far and wide for his homemade cornbread, biscuits and many types
of jams and marmalades. A gregarious, kind hearted, fun loving
family man who will be sorely missed by his many Friends and
family.

by the mother of his children, Frances Field

VERNON, his five children: Lynne, David, Lesley,
Sally, Kathy, his six grandchildren: Jason, Jamie, Kristen, Jenny,
John, Kejah and his three great-grand_sons: Nathan, Arlin and
Owen. John was an entrepreneur, an outdoorsman and a talented
musician. Among his accomplishments, he founded Garratt Aircraft
- the maker of the Avro Aeroparts, was president of Kingsgate
Motors and created 88 Keys Piano School. He gave many people
joy with his stories, his humour and his piano-playing right
till the very end. There will be a memorial gathering to honour
his gregarious and fun-loving nature at his beloved Lake of Bays.
A summer date will follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation to
Toronto Aerospace Museum would be greatly appreciated. Downsview
