BURR, Andrew George
Age 40, of Stratford passed away suddenly on Tuesday March 18, 2008. Beloved son of Marilyn FANCY and her husband Thomas of Stratford. Predeceased by his father George BURR. Loving husband of Karen (MASSE) BURR whom he married on September 26, 1992. Cherished father of Sarah and Wyatt. Dear brother of Raymond BURR and wife Marion, Merrick BURR and wife Della DAWE and Laura METCALFE and husband David. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandmother Viola BURR of Hamilton, mother-in-law and father-in-law Gary and Joyce MASSÉ and brother-in-law Paul MASSÉ and fiancee Brenda ORR. BRITTON, Noriene E., R.N.
Noriene E. BRITTON 71, of Riverview, New Brunswick, with her daughter Karen at her side, passed away peacefully of pulmonary fibrosis at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, January 9, 2008. Noriene was a retired Registered Nurse at The Moncton Hospital, 6600/ Oncology Unit. Noriene will be sadly missed by her daughter and best friend, Karen COBB, Toronto; brother-in-law, Grant FANCY and his special friend Lynne; nieces, Heather Kennedy McQUEEN, Lori Brown BLACK, Chrissy FANCY; nephews, David and Peter KENNEDY, Dan, Bruce and Kevin FANCY; as well as an enormous circle of Friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Betty KENNEDY and Melissa FANCY; nephew, Douglas FANCY. CONNON, Peter F.H. (December 11, 1923-March 28, 2008)
Respected math teacher at South Huron District High School, Exeter, from 1968 to 1986. Highly regarded by students and staff. Earlier careers as a real estate agent, stock broker, and forester. Worked as a lumberjack on the West Coast. Served with the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy in World War 2. Possessed of a brilliant mind, he graduated from Pickering College with Honours, and attained his Bachelor of the Science of Forestry at the University of Toronto in 1949, also with Honours. He was a tough, determined man, and an independent thinker. He defeated cancer twice and rebounded from two strokes. Lifelong conservationist, skilled woodsman, keen hunter and angler, and nature lover. Born on a farm near Stouffville, Ontario. Devoted husband of Maude (MINGAY) CONNON, beloved father of Patricia (FRENCH,) Jane HUGH, and Matthew, and dear father-in-law of Doug (FRENCH,) Tony (FANELLI,) and Sabina (WOJCIK.) Loving grandfather of Nils, Leon, Nathan, Sara, and Ava. A dedicated family man to the day of his death. Dad, we will miss your sharp mind, and your relentless sense of humour. Alexander Ferguson (Alex) DUNCAN, dear father of Mary (Lee) JAMIESON of Beeton, Ken DUNCAN of Mississauga, Robert (Cheryl) DUNCAN of Eugenia and Gordon (Keka) DUNCAN of Toronto. Will be sadly missed by nine grandchildren. Dear brother of Helen LYON of Shelburne, his twin Donald (Pat) DUNCAN of Toronto, Margaret (David) FANNING of Peterborough, Georgina (Ray) McKELVIE of Owen Sound, Howard (Sylvia) DUNCAN of Toronto and sisters-in-law Ruth (Vern) GOODING of Stratford and Leona DUNCAN, Audrey DUNCAN and Melba DUNCAN all of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents George and Hazel DUNCAN and brothers Jack, Douglas, Bert, George, Kenneth and Russell, and brother-in-law Harry LYON. Rested at the McMillan and Jack Funeral Home, Dundalk. Complete service was held in the chapel on Friday, December 28, 2007 at 1 p.m. Cremation with burial of ashes in Bethel Cemetery. Loved father of Brenda FANSHER of Kitchener and Steven SHANAHAN of Bayfield. Dear brother of Phyllis BOYD and her husband Owen, and Sally FOSTER all of London. Also survived by his grandchildren Tracey, Joseph, Arlene, Luke, Ben and great-grand_son Ethan. Predeceased by his parents Rose and Charles SHANAHAN, his brother Gerald R. SHANAHAN and his brother-in-law Jack FOSTER. Also remembered by his many extended relatives. Cremation has taken place. At John's request, there will be no funeral home visitation or service. With his loving family by his side, Vincenzo passed peacefully at Pine Grove Lodge, Woodbridge, on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Giuseppina (1990). Loving father of Restituta and Michele FANTAUZZI, Margherita and Ron ARCHER, and Ada and Rick FRANZESE. MUGRIDGE, Thomas " Tom" Patrick
(July 22, 1941-May 4, 2008)
Tom died peacefully at home in the arms of his wife and best friend, his eyes taking in the view of his beloved Rocky Mountains, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 66 years old. Tom was our husband, father, grampa, brother, mentor and friend. Born in Red Deer, Alberta, he attended a one-room prairie schoolhouse in Condor, Alberta. before joining the Canadian Army Militia at the age of 15. Tom had a 25-year career in the Canadian Military, serving in Gagetown, Borden, Bermuda, Chilliwack, Shilo (Brandon), Kingston and Hamilton. He rose quickly through the ranks from apprentice electrician to Master Warrant Officer. While stationed in Chilliwack, he earned his private pilot license with multi-engine and night ratings. Tom retired from the armed forces in 1985 and attended the University of New Brunswick, graduating with a Bachelor of Education degree. Later he worked as a senior inspector for Industry Canada, Weights and Measures. In all, Tom gave 43 years of loyal service to the Government and people of Canada, for which upon his retirement from the Public Service in January, 2007 he was recognized by Prime Minister Stephen Harper. However, his most prized achievement was the Peer Recognition Award he received from his colleagues at Measurement Canada in 2002. Tom's outstanding trait was his unique mixture of strength, gentleness and his deep compassion for the human condition. He was a man of great integrity, patience, wry humour and kindness. Even in his final days, when he knew his time was close, his main concern was for the welfare of his family.
Besides his loving wife of 33 years, Samantha-jane, Tom is survived by sons Jeff and Garry (Lynne); grandchildren Eric, Sarah, Stacey, Laura and Brian; brothers Dan (Frances,) Dick (Theresa LALONDE) and Jerry (Susan;) brother-in-law Robert SHIRLEY (Eva RODIER) nieces Kelly RANCE, Bonita FANZEGA and Samantha (Doug) ROTHWELL nephews Paul and Stephen MUGRIDGE and William MUGRIDGE; mother-in-law Nettie SHIRLEY and devoted canine friend "Chelsea." He was predeceased by his first wife Yvonne BROWN; and by his parents Bill and Isabella MUGRIDGE.
