EICHLER, Joan " HENNY" (née VANBEEK)
Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday April 4, 2008 at her residence in New Hamburg. She was born 57 years ago in Brampton. Loving daughter of Henrica (DEGRAAF) VANBEEK of Ailsa Craig and the late Lawrence VANBEEK. Beloved wife of Danny EICHLER whom she married October 17, 1969. Dear mother of Danny of Kitchener, Michelle and husband Steve WAGLER, Patricia and husband Daniel ROCHFORD, Caralee and Karl all of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by her grand_son Mitchell. Also missed by her sisters and brothers Annette WAGNER of Huron Park, Laura FISCHER of Cambridge, Lawrence VANBEEK of British Columbia, Ken and wife Deb VANBEEK of Brussels, Martin VANBEEK of Bayfield, Anthony and wife Angela VANBEEK of Thedford, Mary-Lou and husband Peter WINKLER of Ottawa, brother-in-law Robert SCHNARR of Ailsa Craig and many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by a daughter Karla, sister Cora SCHNARR and brother Anthony M. (in infancy.) Joan was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, New Hamburg where she was a member of the Catholic Women's League. She was also a member of the New Hamburg Lioness Club. Family and Friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Tuesday April 8, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Wednesday April 9, 2008 at 9: 45 a.m. followed by the funeral mass to celebrate Joan's life at 10: 30 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, New hamburg with Father Pablito Labado officiating. Cremation to follow. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Wilmot Family Resources. Parish prayer will be said at the funeral home on Tuesday at 4: 00 p.m.

DENIKE, Aileen Margaret (née WHIDDEN)
Passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24 at Thompson House, Toronto, in her 95th year.
Beloved wife of the late T. Wallace DENIKE. Cherished mother of Judith (deceased,) Gerry DEANIKE (Mary-Anne) and Janice EICHNER (Karl). Dearest Nana to Robin and Jeffrey DENIKE, William and Pamela DEANIKE and great-granddaughter Charley DENIKE.
Aileen was predeceased by her brothers, Gordon and Maurice WHIDDEN and her sister Ruth BEARD. Sorely missed by best friend Gladys HOUCK, sister-in-law Greta WHIDDEN and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces in Canada and the U.S. She had been a resident of Thompson House for 16 years and enjoyed many dear Friends and an active social life to the end.
An accomplished singer and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Aileen gave her time, talents and heart to those she loved, her church and her community.
The family is grateful to the caring staff at Thompson House. Donations in Aileen's memory to the Don Mills Foundation for Seniors would be greatly appreciated.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3 at the Donway Covenant United Church, 230 The Donway West, Toronto. Private interment.
Mother Teresa said "We can do no great things - only small things with great love". This is the essence of our darling mother and friend. We thank God for sharing her with us for so long.
