Meningococcal disease possible cause of death
By Jennifer
O'BRIEN, Sun Media, Wed., March 5, 2008
Health officials in Lambton County are investigating if the death
of a 21-year-old Sarnia woman was caused by meningococcal disease.
Sara Bethany
DOIG, 21, died in a London hospital from a blood
infection and symptoms of the disease, said Vicki
HAWKSWORTH
of the Lambton County Community Health Services Department.
"We don't know how she died because we don't have lab confirmation,
but if it was (meningococcal disease) it is an isolated case,"
she said.
The disease infects the lining of the brain or bloodstream and
is fatal in about 10 per cent of patients. Symptoms include sudden
onset of fever, headache, neck stiffness and vomiting.
People who were in close contact with
DOIG have been treated
with preventative antibiotics,
HAWKSWORTH said.

DOIG,
Fraser
William
It Has Been 25 Years Ago Today May 17, 1983 In loving memory
of our dear old Dad, Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow,
But remembered me in ever y tomor row. Re membered the joy, the
laughter, the smiles, I've only gone to rest a little while.
Although my leaving causes pain and grief, my going has eased
my hurt and given me relief. So dry your eyes and remember me,
Not as I am now, but I used to be. Because, I will remember you
all and Look on with a smile. Understand in your hearts, I've
only gone to rest a little while. As long as I have the love
of each of you, I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.
Remembering much love and laughter always, Ken, Nancy
DEMETRIOUS,
Jennifer and families.
