On May 23rd, 2008, in his 88th year after a courageous attempt
to overcome a massive stroke. Carman's greatest pleasure was
his family and home. He will be dearly missed and remembered
affectionately by Rae (née
PHILLIPS) his wife of 60 years, his
three daughters Patricia (Jim
CROSSLAND) of Sandford, Ontario
Susan (Gary
DOERKSEN) of Golden, British Columbia; and Kathleen
(Bob SMALLWOOD) of Ottawa, Ontario; and his five grandchildren
Erin (Barry
CRAWFORD;)
Graham,
Keith,
Andrew and Brenley, all
of whom he was very proud. Carman was the
son of the late Major
Ralph BARKER, M.D. and Mabel (née
WARREN) of Portland, Ontario
and is predeceased by his sister Cecile
TOPPIN.
Carman answered
the call for Military duty from 1939-1945 with training in England
followed by service in France, Holland and Belgium. After the
war he became a successful businessman in Toronto and Winnipeg,
and settled in Aurora in 1969. A Memorial Service will be held
Friday, May 30th, 1 p.m. at Aurora United Church, 15186 Yonge
Street, Aurora, Ontario. Interment will follow at the Aurora
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Community

person, who brought joy to those around her. She will be fondly
remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her charm and her
