GLASSER, William John
William John GLASSER, beloved husband of the former Melva HOLLAND of Neustadt, passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Walkerton on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at the age of 89 years.
He is survived by a brother, Helmuth GLASSER of Neustadt, brother- and sisters-in-law Isobel and Harvey HOLLAND of Hanover, Florence GLASSER of Neustadt and Gertie ZIMMERMAN of Hanover. Also a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and Friends. Predeceased by two sisters, Edna WALTER and Marjorie MEPHAM, and two brothers, Leon and Norman GLASSER.
Friends were received at the Garrett Funeral Chapel in Neustadt until the morning of Friday, January 18, 2008 then to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Neustadt for funeral services at 11: 00 a.m. Interment Hanover Cemetery. Reverend David WUNDERLICH officiated.
The pallbearers were Jeffrey KARTECHNER, Ken GLASSER, Jim DIEBEL, Jeremy GLASSER, Terry MacHINA and Nick GLASSER. The flower bearers were Chris GLASSER, Mark DIEBEL, Rachelle BECKER, Ron MacHINA and Brandon GLASSER.

SHAKER, George Joseph
(August 29, 1919-April 28, 2008)
George died peacefully at home. He is survived by his beloved wife Yvonne, loving father of Catherine (Paul) McKERNAN, Mary Ellen, and Barbara (John) REID. Cherished grandfather of Trevor, Andrew and Owen. Loved brother of Robert, Abraham, Kathleen, Emily and the late Frank and Adele.
George was born in Trenton, Ontario and moved with his family to Toronto at the age of nine. After graduating from high school he studied as a radio operator and joined the merchant ship AD Huff as First Radio Officer. On February 22, 1941, his ship was sunk in the North Atlantic by a German battleship and he spent the next four years in German Prison of War camps. The prisoners were liberated to "the most beautiful sound in the world," the sound of bagpipers by British troops in April, 1945. George returned to Toronto to complete a degree at the University of Toronto and built a rich and full life with his family and Friends.
The family wishes to acknowledge with sincere appreciation Doctor DIEF and the staff of the Angio Department of North York General Hospital for their many months of care and support. Our appreciation to Estella and Donna for their compassionate nursing care.
The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 30th. Service in the chapel on Thursday, May 1st at 11 o'clock.

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Sunset Manor Nursing Home, Collingwood, in his 95th year. Ted, loving husband of Julia KOTZ (née JACYNA;) Beloved father of the late Henry KOTZ; cherished grandfather of Christopher and Sarah KOTZ. Ted will be dearly missed by his sister-in-law Yanka ANDRUSYSZYN, niece Grazyna, her husband Rod DIETER and their daughter Meagan, and by his daughter-in-law Karen BAKER. Loving husband and best friend of Eva (GREGORY) HUTTON for over 61 years. Dear father of Barry and wife Wendy of Seaforth and Ron of London. Proud Grampa to Aime of Calgary, Aren and her fiancee Daryl JENSON of Saint Marys, Kyle of Toronto and Brett of London. son of the late Joseph HUTTON and the former Jenny MAINPRIZE of Uniondale. Born in Logan Township, daughter of the late Michael HAGGARTY and the former Margaret WHITE/WHYTE. Mildred and her late husband Albert farmed in Ellice Township retiring to Church Street in Stratford. She was involved with the Red Cross Homemakers and a member of the Gadshill Women's Institute for many years. Mildred was a lifelong member of Saint_Joseph's Roman Catholic Church and the Catholic Women's League. Beloved wife of the late Albert SCHAEFER who predeceased her January 21, 2005. BROWN, Frances Patricia (formerly EVANS, FOWLER, née CAWKER)
Frances passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at her home in Etobicoke, following an illness. A life-long west-ender, Fran met her soul-mate Bob EVANS when she was just sixteen and enjoyed a more than thirty-year honeymoon with him until his untimely death in 1975. Theirs was an example of true love that inspired all who knew them. Fran went on to marry and enhance the lives of James FOWLER (1985) and Norman BROWN (2007) with her special warmth and humour. Fran will be missed by her four children Linda GUTHRIE, Robbie EVANS (Anni), Patti BAKER and Donna HORAN (Peter) and four grandchildren Aleah Louise and Arlan Evans BAKER, David James AUSTIN and Victoria Lea EVANS. Fran is survived by her sister Marion DIETRICH and brothers Frank (Penny) and Ross (Joan) CAWKER and the many relatives of the Cawker and EVANS families, and will be missed by so many, including the Brown family: Dennis, Gregory, Melissa and Allison (MASON.) Dear friends and family, do not doubt that she is once again in the arms of her darling Bobby, in peace and in love. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the healthcare workers from Thornbrook, namely Anna, Elaine, Marybeth, Hannah and Joanne. Bryan GRANGER will be sadly missed by his dear wife the former Grace McPHERSON. He has made his journey onward to join his first wife the former Betty BURKHOLDER and their son Roy.
