LAFORGE, Ted
At Saint Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Friday, June 27, 2008. Ted LAFORGE of Aylmer in his 81st year. Beloved husband of 30 years to Jean LACASSE. Dear father of Linda DORR and husband Warren of Mt. Hope, Robert LAFORGE of Mt. Hope, Rod LAFORGE and wife Rosanne of Tillsonburg, Sandy LAFORGE of Saint Thomas, Brenda LAFORGE of Saint Thomas. Step-father of Jack LACASSE and wife Hilda of Aylmer, Claire LABONTE and partner Edward SAHAGIAN of Saint Thomas, Nicole JODOIN of Timmins, Guy LACASSE and wife Roseann of Saint Thomas. Also survived by his former wife Doris LAFORGE of Saint Thomas, life-long friend Bill MUDGE and wife Simone and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Brother of Fran HAYDEN. Predeceased by brothers Buster and Charlie LAFORGE and sisters Jessie WINKWORTH, Bert LOUKS, Hazel HILL, Alice HERRMANS, Millie McPHAIL, Lillian DEFAUW, Kay COLUMBUS, Lena and Dot LAFORGE. Born in St. Williams on October 26, 1927. Ted grew tobacco for a number of years and in retirement he will he remembered by many from the Aylmer area as the bicycle man. Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Tuesday 7-9 p.m. where the memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 1: 00 p.m. Cremation has taken place with interment, Aylmer Cemetery. Rev. BROWN, Albert Leslie " Les," B.Sc.
The family of Les BROWN are saddened by his death on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Toronto Western Hospital. Les was born in New Liskeard, Ontario, on November 8, 1918, the fifth child of George BROWN and Annie SAVAGE formerly of Sheffield. His family were survivors of the Temiskaming fire of 1922. Les attended Public and High School in New Liskeard and graduated from Queen's University in 1943 with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering. He served in the Royal Canadian Engineers in World War 2. His working career was with Ontario Hydro head Office. Les is survived by his wife Louise POLLEY whom he married in Toronto September 29, 1945, and two children, Linda REID (Pierce,) Toronto; and Ken BROWN (Kathleen,) Peterborough; and five grandchildren, Ian REID (Joelle,) Toronto Heather REID, Toronto; Fraser BROWN (Julie DEFOY,) Gatineau, P.Q.; Seth BROWN (Sara,) Toronto; and Liam BROWN, Toronto. Also survived by three sisters, Jessie CONNELLY, Newmarket; Lily BEATON, Orillia; and Jean BOND, Barrie; and sister-in-law Lilias PALMATEER, Peterborough and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings George BROWN, St. Catharines; Anne FARROW, Penetanguishene; and Sid BROWN, Agincourt. In 1966-67 Les and Louise built two cottages on Wolf Lake and the forty years he worked and sometimes relaxed there were the best years of his life. He took early retirement and he and Louise moved to a new home in Cavan in 1976, returning to Toronto in 2003 to live in Christie Gardens. Cremation and private interment will take place. A Memorial Service will be held on April 5th at 11 a.m. at Kingston Road United Church, 975 Kingston Rd., Toronto. Visitation will be before the service and a time of fellowship and lunch will follow. If desired, donations may be made to the Queen's University Student Financial Assistance Fund, Kingston, Ontario, K7L 3N6, or a charity of your choice.

DEFREITAS, Maria S.
Peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease, at Dearness Home on March 5th, 2008, Mrs. Maria S. DEFREITAS (née SMITH) of London in her 68th year. Beloved wife of Dennis DEFREITAS. Loving mother of Tracy and her husband Mark SANDFORD and Craig KELMAN (Carrie CAMPBELL.) Dear grandmother of Alicia and Abigail SANDFORD and Joshua CAMPBELL- KELMAN. She will be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters and many nieces, nephews and Friends. According to Maria's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in the Lloyd R. Needham Funeral Chapel (520 Dundas St. London) on Saturday, March 8th, 2008 at 2: 00 p.m. Friends may gather for one hour prior to service time. In memory of Maria, contributions to the Parkinson Society of South Western Ontario would be greatly appreciated.

DEFRIES, Jean (née LIND)
Age 96, of Toronto, passed away peacefully at Toronto East General Hospital on Tuesday, March 11, 2008. Born June 17, 1911 in Toronto, Ontario to the late Robert G. LIND and Marion LIND. She served with the Red Cross during World War 2. A retired medical secretary and homemaker, and a devoted member of Timothy Eaton Memorial Church. A strong Christian, she served several charities over the years. Jean was a loving and supportive wife to the late John Gray DEFRIES, mother of Robert Lind DEFRIES and David Gray DEFRIES - his wife Rosalyn and daughter Lauren Dawn DEFRIES. Following in death her sister Aleda TOWERS and brother Robert Burns LIND. Survived by nephews R. Jeffrey LIND, Ian LIND and niece Marion LEWIS. Family will arrange a funeral/memorial service for the summer of 2008. This gathering will be announce The Star and The Globe.
