89, left this earthly life in the early hours of Wednesday, June 4,
2008 at Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital, Petrolia, Ontario.
Born on the family farm in the hamlet of Waubuno, Ontario on
May 11, 1919, she was the daughter of John Francis
BURR and Cathern
Ann LESTER.
She later resided in Sarnia and Point Edward and,
since 1994, in Brigden at Brigden Park Place. In September 1942,
she enlisted with the Canadian Women's Army Corps Basic Training
Centre in Kitchener, Ontario. She served with the Royal Canadian
Ordnance Corps Unit in London, Ontario until the end of the war.
She later worked in the Dietary Department of the Sarnia General
Hospital from 1948 until her retirement in 1981. She worked at
the hospital with her sister, Kathleen (Kay)
BURR, who was employed
in the Housekeeping Department. Apart from Allena's time serving
with the Canadian Women's Army Corps, she and Kay shared a home
throughout their lives and enjoyed working, shopping and travelling
together. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert Andrew (Andy)

reminiscences will take place at Steadman Brothers Funeral Home
Brigden Saturday, June 7th, 2008 at 2 p.m. with visitation beginning
1 hour prior. After the time of sharing memories of Allena, the
funeral procession will be led by the 1959 Cadillac Hearse to
Bear Creek Cemetery, Moore Line, St. Clair Township. After placing
of flowers at the gravesite, a reception will be held at Brigden

was loving husband to Margaret Catherine
DEDRICK (residing at
Champlain Manor, Orillia), Father of Jane Frederick and Donald
DEDRICK, and Grandfather to Nathalie, Gillian, and Alison. He
was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was for many
years an Elder at Orillia Presbyterian Church, where a service
in his honour will be held on Monday, March 24, 2008. Visitiation
