animal lover and wildlife enthusiast. She was a member of Beta
Sigma Phi Sorority, and active in performing arts. The memorial
service will be held from Wallacetown United Church, Wallacetown
Ontario. on Friday February 29, 2008 at 12 Noon. Reception to

as a businessman/ entrepreneur and owner-operator for 41 years
of Ken Westman Automotive Ltd. at three different locations on
Oxford Street East. In recent years, he would be recognized by
many in north London as the white-haired gentleman who played
the harmonica at Loblaws when providing entertainment for the
mezzanine or when collecting for the Salvation Army kettle campaign
in the store's foyer. Ken took pleasure in writing frequent letters
to the London Free Press Editor and was an enthusiastic member
of the Northpark Senior Men's Breakfast Club. He was a loyal
Detroit Tigers and Red Wings fan. Also an avid car race enthusiast,
Ken attended the Indianapolis 500 thirty-seven times. Ken was
often seen driving about town in his treasured 1977 yellow Cadillac.
Friends and family will be received at Memorial Funeral Home
1559 Fanshawe Park Rd. E. for extended visitation on Tuesday,
April 29, 2008 from 5-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on
Wednesday at 1 p.m. Reverend Allan Roach of The Gathering Place

DAWSON of Thunder Bay. Carol moved to Pembroke
in 1957 at which time she continued her teaching career for two
years at Victoria Street Public School. The 60's and 70's were
focused on raising her children and thereafter working with Henry
in his law firm. Carol's impact on life in the community was
enormous through her involvement in a myriad of clubs, charitable
organizations and endeavours. She will be especially remembered
for her long-time involvement in the Pembroke Ski Club, Canadian
Club, Alexandra Club and the Women's Auxiliary of the First Presbyterian
Church. Carol served the people of Ontario during her tenure
on the Ontario Parks Council with pride and vigour where she
travelled the province at large. Those who knew Carol know that
she enjoyed life to the fullest and was grateful for her ability
to remain active until overtaken by illness. Many will remember
Carol's competitive, no nonsense nature and her particular love
of bridge. Carol loved the outdoors and found peace and great
satisfaction working in her garden at her home on Supple Street.
Until now, Carol continued to be active with Henry on the ski
hill, on the tennis court, on the beaches of Mexico, Florida
and Mont Ste. Marie, at the horse races in Saratoga and Florida,
at the National Arts Centre and on the dance floor. Well known
for her infectious laugh and love of a good party, Carol was
always happiest when she had the opportunity to host family and
Friends in her home. Visitation at the Malcolm Deavitt and Binhammer
Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St, Pembroke on Monday from 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service in First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday
at 11 a.m., followed by cremation. Spring interment in Calvin

What a wonderful ride it has been! Sandra
SILLCOX - wife, mother,
grandmother, sister, matriarch, equestrian, volunteer extraordinaire,
friend and larger than life personality - passed away peacefully
in her sleep March 26 at 74 years of age. Although quietly ill
from cancer, Sandra remained highly active and was feeding and
looking after her beloved horses until two weeks before her passing.
Sandra was greatly loved by her husband Robert, daughter Dana
(Jim), daughter Paige (Joe), son Scott (Kim), and grandchildren
- Nick, Devon, Mitchell, Thomas, Kendall, Carly and Kai. Also
survived by her brother Clay

was strong willed, independent and one-of-a-kind would be an
understatement. She was a remarkable person who touched and influenced
far more people than we can know. So many things can and will
be said about the remarkable Sandra, but above all it was never
dull and we thank her for that. Her cup was forever half full.

April 2 at All Saints Anglican Church in King City with refreshments

Evelyn was the most caring, warm hearted and loving person you

Passed away peacefully at Fredericton, New Brunswick on April 23,
2008. She was born at Upper Nelson, New Brunswick, daughter of
the late Thomas A. and Cecilia
(MAHONEY)
DAWSON.
Eileen was predeceased
by her husband Fred in 2001, and is survived by her three sons
- Daryl and his wife Margaret of Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia
Paul and his wife Nonnie, of Dalhousie, New Brunswick, and Frank
and his wife Susan of Toronto, Ontario. She is also survived
by nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and her sisters
Alice WILSON of Newton, Massachusetts and Agnes
KIRK of Nelson,
New Brunswick She was predeceased by her brother Frank, and sisters
Rose, Kathleen, Clara, and Mary. Mrs. Hayes taught in the New
Brunswick school system for 40 years, principally at Stanley
Regional High School, and Saint Dunstan's Junior High School
in Fredericton. Eileen was a life long student, a graduate of
Saint John High School, New Brunswick Normal School, and the
University of New Brunswick. She was an active member of the
Catholic Women's League. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Dunstan's
Roman Catholic Church, on April 26, 2008. In lieu of flowers,
the family has requested that donations be made to St. Dunstan's
Parish, Fredericton.

Edward (1913-2008)
Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1913 and after early childhood
in Cranbrook British Columbia, Ted was raised in Toronto. He
learned and taught sailing at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club.
Salt water in his veins led to a stint on the Canadian Leader,
transporting cargo to and from New Zealand. When World War 2
broke out, Ted and his four younger brothers answered the call.
All eventually commissioned and surviving the war, Ted and brother
Bob became Squadron Leaders in Pathfinder Squadron of Royal Air
Force Bomber Command, installing radar equipment on allied aircraft.
Following the war, Ted and two brothers started farming at Milton,
Ontario before he met and married Barbara Lynn
DAWSON and moved
to Brantford, Ontario. During a 28 year career as Office Manager
of the Holstein-Friesian Association of Canada, they raised six
children, the youngest of whom subsequently was lost tragically
to an impaired driver. At his hands a new cottage appeared one
year near Tobermory, Ontario. Retirement led to three years cruising
the Great Lakes and high seas on Barbaelia, before settling down
to their self-built estate at Mallorytown in the 1000 Islands.
94 years young, Ted passed away peacefully and quietly at the
Ottawa General Hospital on Monday May 5, 2008. He leaves behind
sons Alec, Peter, and Stephen and daughters Darrell and Christine
and their families which include 10 grandchildren. He is survived
by siblings Ruth Howard
ROBSON and David and Clifford
HOWARD
and Darrell Dawson
HOWARD and Donald and Nancy
DAWSON, to whom
he was a brother-in-law. He survived his loving wife of 54 years,
Barbara, their son Timothy and his brothers Robert and Phillip.
Ted will be remembered at a memorial service to take place at
the St James-The-Less Chapel at 2: 00 p.m. on Friday afternoon
May 9, 2008. Reception to follow. The chapel is located inside
the gates of St James Cemetery, 635 Parliament St, east of Yonge
St and south of Bloor St in Toronto. All family and Friends are
most welcome to attend.

Died on Friday, May 23, 2008, in Ottawa, Ontario. Jean
SOUTHWORTH
was born on January 9, 1923 at Omemee, Ontario, the only child
of Leonard A.
SOUTHWORTH and Ethel
DAWSON.
Having gained a B.A.
(History) from the University of Toronto (Victoria College) in
1944, she joined the news staff of The Ottawa Journal in 1948
from 1953 to 1975 she was the Music and Drama Editor, and from
1975 to 1980 the Arts Writer. After The Ottawa Journal closed
in 1980, she was a freelance arts writer for other Ottawa publications
(such as a weekly music column in The Ottawa Sun). She studied
the organ with Godfrey
HEWITT, C.D., D.Mus. (Cantuar,) F.R.C.O.,
and for many years was his assistant at Christ Church Cathedral
from 1972 to 1974 she was the Chairman of the Ottawa Centre,
Royal Canadian College of Organists, and was an Honorary Life
Member of the Centre. She was an active member of the Rideau
Lawn and Tennis Club from which she received a Life Achievement
Award; the National Capital Tennis Association, the Women's National
Press Club, the Association of Professional Business Women of
Canada, the Women's University Club, the Historical Society of
Ottawa, the National Capital Opera Association, the English-Speaking
Union of Canada, the Royal Commonwealth Society, the Monarchist
League of Canada, Heritage Ottawa, and many other groups. Friends
are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair
and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Sunday, June 8 from
2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Christ
Church Cathedral, 420 Sparks Street, Ottawa on Monday, June 9
at 2: 00 p.m. Reception to follow in Cathedral Hall. In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations to the Royal Canadian College of
Organists, P.O. Box 2270, Station D, Ottawa, Ontario K1P 5W4,
would be greatly appreciated.

Elizabeth LACKIE passed away peacefully at her home in Oak Bay
Lodge. Betty was born in Otley, Yorkshire, England and emigrated
to Collingwood, Ontario, Canada with her parents Richard and
Annie DAWSON in 1929. She also lived in Noranda, and Montreal,
Quebec, as well as Brantford and Toronto, Ontario. She worked
for most of her life as a stenographer and secretary and married
her late husband Earle in Toronto. She retired to Victoria about
15 years ago. Betty is survived by her brother Bob

Columbia and her sister Nancy
DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS of Thornhill,
Ontario as well as numerous nephews, nieces and grand nieces
and nephews to whom "Auntie Betty" was, and still is, a very
special auntie.
A short memorial service will be held at First Memorial Funeral
Services, 4725 Falaise Dr, Saanich, British Columbia at 10: 00 a.m.
on Tuesday June 17 for family and Friends to celebrate Betty's
life and times.

graced the lives of many people during her 65 years. From the
moment Bernie entered your life, you knew that she was a very
special lady and to cherish the precious time you had with her.
Bernie had a passion for life -- a gift she willingly shared
with those she loved and in doing so created many special memories.
