CAVALIER, Harold E.
Of Niagara Falls, New York, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 in Newfane Rehabilitation. He was 84.
He was born in Toronto, Ontario on July 29, 1922, a son of the late Harold and Irene (CHITTENDEN) CAVALIER.
He will be sadly missed by his son Harold A. CAVALIER of East Randolph, New York; two half sisters in Toronto and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Bernice L. (HOOPER) CAVALIER in 2002.
There will be no prior visitation. Friends are invited to attend Funeral Services Saturday 10 a.m. in the Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 5871 Military Road, Lewiston. Arrangements are being handled by the Lane Funeral Home, Inc. 716-283-9660.

Peacefully, with family at his side at Parkwood Hospital, London, Saturday, February 9, 2008 after a long battle with bone marrow disease, George Edward BECKINGHAM in his 87th year. Cherished husband of the late W. Joy BECKINGHAM (née NICHOLS.) Much loved father of Terry (Valerie) of the The Pas, Manitoba, and daughter Susan STEWARD/STEWART/STUART of London. Dear grandfather of Jennifer (Jason) of The Pas, Manitoba, George B. BECKINGHAM (Frances) of Coquitlam, British Columbia, great-grandfather of Adam, Anne, Jack and Jane. Loved by sisters Mary (LANE) and Luella (ALLISTON) of Hamilton and sister-in-law Doreen TREITZ (née Nichols) of Sudbury and Audrey LAMB (née NICHOLS) of North Bay, nieces, grand nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by many other Friends and extended family. George was born to George and Philomena (NIELSEN) BECKINGHAM of Hamilton, October 23, 1921. He was a member of the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders and served his country in war with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. After many years as District Manager with the Fuller Brush Company in Winnipeg and Burlington, and known for his meticulous work habits, he was sought after by, and contracted with, many large companies. George was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #501, Lambeth, where he was welcomed and cared for by members and Friends. Many thanks to them and a very special tribute to the nurses and staff of the Western Counties Wing, #3rd Floor "Kent" and Doctor D. CAVANAUGH for their outstanding care of our Dad. At George's request, there is to be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Interment alongside his sweetheart "Joy" at Burlington Memorial Gardens. Reg passed away on February 28, 2008 at his home in London, in his 85th year. For more than 80 years, Reg lived in Melbourne where he and Aileen built and operated a successful trucking and fuel oil delivery business until he retired. Reg proudly supported the community: serving in various positions at the Melbourne United Church, and Dufferin Masonic Lodge #364, and was instrumental in the building of the Townline Terrace Apartments. He served many years on the Caradoc Township Council (councilor and reeve) and Melbourne Volunteer Fire Department. Reg was also proud to be a Shriner's "Roadrunner". Family and Friends will be received at Elliott Madill Funeral Home, 22424 Adelaide Road, Mount Brydges, on Sunday, March 2nd from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 6: 30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Melbourne United Church, 592 John Street, Melbourne, on Monday, March 3rd, from 12: 30 followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. ORTVED, Mary Charteris (née CARTER)
Peacefully at her home on January 14th, 2008 in her 91st year, following an incredibly full life. Beloved wife of the late William Evans ORTVED, M.D. (1996) and sister to Joan Carruthers ROBERTS (Goodridge d.) and the late John Charteris Haig CARTER (Helen d.). As the Leo that she was, she stood like a lioness for her six children, Susan ARMITAGE (Murray d.,) Niels (Stephanie,) Peter (Maureen), Jody (Cathy), Janet IGGERS (Dan), Anne DATTELS (Peter) and loved them all dearly. She enjoyed watching the eleven grandchildren grow up - Kirsten COOKE (Ian,) Kevin ARMITAGE (Linda GALASSO); Allie SWEENEY (Patrick), Chat and John ORTVED; Mira and Matthew ORTVED; Kyla and Dayne ORTVED; Kelly and Adam IGGERS. She was proud to be a great-grandmother of Sophie, Charlie and Jay. Also fondly remembered by Jim SUTTON and Jamie, Liam and Isabelle CAVEN. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Doctor Wendy BROWN; and her special caregivers Norma, Maria, Tess, Magda and Lani, one of whom was always at her side for the past 21 months.
After graduating from Havergal College, Mary went on to University College, University of Toronto where she met her husband Bill ORTVED. Her many years of volunteering for the Women's Committee of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra culminated in her term as President. She served on both the Board of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Roy Thomson Hall. She was an enthusiastic member of the Toronto Herb Society, and enjoyed her many weekly bridge games. She led a very active life right up into her late eighties playing tennis twice weekly, skiing at Osler Bluff Ski Club, playing golf at Rosedale Golf Club, skippering her Albacore and Flying Scot, and enjoying the religious morning plunge into Georgian Bay off the rocks of Land's End. Mary's spirit will always rest at her beloved island, Wawonaissa, at Pointe au Baril where she spent every summer of her life. Since 1954 when they bought property at Mansfield, her weekend ritual was roosting at Whippoorwill Hill and she cherished the hills and the many Friends that surrounded her there.
There will be a celebration of her life on Monday January 21st at Eglinton St. George's United Church, corner of Lytton and Duplex Ave. Toronto at 2 o'clock. Reception following at Rosedale Golf Club, 1901 Mt. Pleasant Road. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

Loving mother of Dale (Mrs. Paul CAVERLY) and Darlene (Mrs. William HOWIE.) Cherished grandmother of Adam, Ryan and Sara CAVERLY, and Suzanne HOWIE. Dear sister of Mrs. Jean POWER and predeceased by Muriel MARZETTI and Walter STUTT. Beloved aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Beloved wife of the late John "Harry" CAVES and loved mother of the late Joanne (Wilbur) CAVES. She was the last of her family. Predeceased by 2 brothers Robert and Fred SHEPHERD and six sisters Pearl McDONALD, Mabel HEBEBRAND, Hazel McLEOD, Edna DUNLOP, Evelyn MILLS and Erie RACE. Loved grandmother of Stephen MATTHEWS, Danny MATTHEWS (Pearl), David MATTHEWS (Debbie), Brenda McARTHUR (late William.)
