BUMSTEAD, Earl George (June 11, 1920-March 20, 2008)
Peacefully passed away at The WestMount, Kitchener, Ontario, on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at age 87 years. Beloved husband for 57 years of the late Edeltraut Anna Martha (MINK,) who passed away May 25, 2007. Dear father of Lois and Brian CLIFFORD of Kitchener, Wayne of New Hamburg and his partner Melissa DENNISON of Kitchener, Carol Anne and Brian TOLTON of Markdale; sadly missed by grand children, Paul and Brae-Lyn CLIFFORD, Aaron CLIFFORD, Neil TOLTON and Darrah, Carly and Everett BUMSTEAD; dear brother of Ruby (John) IRWIN, Marie (Carman) LOUCKS, Marjorie (Larry) GIBSON, Frank (Elaine) BUMSTEAD, Shirley (Robert) BETTS and also fondly remembered by Michele BRANIFF. Predeceased by sisters, Edna MILLS and Pearl RUSSELL. A funeral service to celebrate Earl's life was held in the chapel at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, Waterloo, on Monday, March 24, 2008. Rev. Bob PARKS officiated, with tributes given by Earl's daughter, Carol Anne TOLTON, his grand daughters, Darrah and Carly BUMSTEAD, his grand_son, Paul CLIFFORD, and his son-in-law, Brian CLIFFORD. Pallbearers were his six grandchildren, Paul, Aaron, Neil, Darrah, Carly and Everett. A private family graveside service took place with burial following at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener, Ontario where Edel was interred just 10 months before. Earl was born and raised on the Meaford Tank Range, moving to Kitchener to drive a bus as a young man, where he met and married Edel MINK. The family moved to Flesherton in 1961 where Earl purchased a general insurance agency, relocating to Markdale in 1968. Earl owned and operated Earl G Bumstead Insurance Ltd. and was actively involved in the Markdale community, serving on the school board and town council. He was an executive member of the local Rotary Club and a long-time member of the Markdale Country Club. He and Edel retired to Kitchener in 1985, wintering in Florida for sixteen years. Earl's declining health necessitated his move to long term care and he resided at The WestMount from 2003 until his passing. Donations were made to Benton Street Baptist Church in Kitchener and The Alzheimer's Society.

Peacefully at the Health Science Centre, London, on Sunday morning, January 13th, 2008. Walter Herbert BUMSTEAD, of Owen Sound, in his 91st year. Dearly beloved husband of Agnes BUMSTEAD (nee SUTHERLAND) for 53 years. Survived by his brother-in-law Kenneth SUTHERLAND and his wife Mae, of Chatsworth, and sister-in-law Helen SUTHERLAND of Holland Centre. Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Mary Jane (née HODGKINSON) BUMSTEAD, his brother Dorsey BUMSTEAD and sister Elda GIFFORD. Friends may call at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 - 14th Street West, Owen Sound, (519-376-7492) on Tuesday from 2: 00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service for Walter BUMSTEAD will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 16th, 2008 at 11: 00 a.m. Spring interment in McLean's Cemetery, Bognor. If so desired, the family would appreciate donations to the Alliance Church, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice, as your expression of sympathy.

Passed away in his 91st year on Thursday January 24th, 2008 at Stevenson Memorial Hospital. Beloved husband of Lillian. Loving father of Ken, Carol HUTTER (Alan) and the late Melvin. Remembered by his grandchildren. Brother of Iola LEE (John,) Muriel HOPE, Oran (Kay), Orma ROSSEL, the late Genevieve ROLLO, Luella BUMSTEAD and Russell (Margaret). Memorial service will be held at Saint_John's United Church, 56 Victoria St. E. at 2 p.m. on Sunday February 3rd. Peacefully in Durham on Wednesday January 30, 2008. Stan HUNTER of Rocky Saugeen in his 87th year. Husband of the late Bernice (née REAY.) Loved and devoted father of Leslie and wife Nancy of R.R.#1, Durham, Lois and her husband the late Alan DOW of Durham, and Heather and her husband Brad BURGESS of R.R.#1, Durham. Sadly missed by grandchildren Michael and wife Kim HUNTER, Landyn DOW and girlfriend Lori, Carrie DOW, Paul DOW, Hunter, Logan and Ally BURGESS, great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family members. Dear brother of Ollie BAILEY of Durham, Charlie and wife Lenore of R.R.#1, Durham and the late Ivan HUNTER. Predeceased by 2 stillborn sons and his parents John Edgar and Jennie (nee BUMSTEAD) HUNTER. The family will receive Friends at the Fawcett-McEachern Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, Durham on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Durham Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday February 2, 2008. Peacefully on Valentine's Day, February 14th, 2008, at Grey Bruce Health Services Meaford. Bob PETTENGILL of Owen Sound, in his 79th year. Loving husband of Marie (née RITCHIE.) Loving father to Judy OSBORNE (Harold BUMSTEAD), Susan (Brian) JENNINGS, Brian (Sandra) PETTENGILL, and Sandi (Dennis) FRENCH. Loving stepfather of Marilyn (Doug) COURTIS, and Stephen (Margaret) GREENWOOD. Sadly missed by his 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also missed by his brother Don (Dianne) CAMPBELL. Predeceased by his granddaughter Lisa FRENCH. Bob loved music, and was a member of many pipe bands over the last 50 years, playing the bass and tenor drum. Friends are invited to Tannahill Funeral Home for a celebration of Bob's life, Monday February 18th, at 2 o'clock in the chapel, with visiting 1 hour prior to service, 1 p.m. till 2 p.m. Doctor Brad CLARK officiating. Cremation has taken place. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Owen Sound Kidney Dialysis Unit can be made through the G.B.R.H.C.
