BIRRELL, Ann Jane Watt
Born August 6, 1930 in Glasgow, Scotland, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home after a brief illness, January 22, 2008. Dearly loved wife for 53 years of Peter BIRRELL. Sadly missed by her daughter Eleanor WALTERS (Terry,) sons Alan (Irene) and Douglas (Michelle) and her five beloved grandchildren: Lea, Nicholas and Erin WALTERS, Alexandra BIRRELL and Carolyn BIRRELL, and Friends and family here and in Scotland and England. Ann will also be missed by her many Friends and team mates at the Brampton Tennis Club where she was a member, and fierce competitor on the ladies doubles team, for many years. Ann was a vibrant, happy woman who was the life and soul of her family. Nothing made her happier than when she and Peter were surrounded by their children and grandchildren either on holiday or at home in Huttonville, Ontario. Each of her grandchildren had a close and special relationship with Grandma and all learned at an early age about the "magic of Huttonville" a place where there was no crying, no bad dreams and where children could fly if they could run fast enough across the back garden. Huttonville is a little less magical today. Friends will be received at the Neweduk Funeral Home - "Mississauga Chapel", 1981 Dundas St. W. (1 block east of Erin Mills Pkwy.) from 5-8 p.m. Friday. A Celebration of Ann's Life will be held in the Chapel on Saturday. January 26, 2008 at 3 p.m. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
