for fishing and the outdoors he spent his retirement years in
Tobermory on Dorcas Bay Rd. He was a veteran of World War 2,
stationed at the Alaskan border. Paul was a member of the Royal
Canadian Legion, Royal Canadian Naval Association, the Point
Edward Ex-Servicemen's Association and the 1st Hussars W.O. and
Sergeant's Mess. At Paul's request there will be no funeral home
visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Matthew

at 2 p.m. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Arrangements

Women's League and served as a volunteer for the Children's Aid
Society. A special thank you to Marilyn, Rhoda and all the special
angels who made it possible for Mom to stay in her own home.

6 to 96. Born on May 10, 1928 in Niagara Falls, Joyce grew up
in St. Lambert, Quebec, and attended McGill University. head
librarian at Malton District Library from 1967 until her retirement
in 1992, Joyce delighted in sharing her love to read with others.
In her retirement, she remained active championing various causes
and advocating for social justice through the political system.
She did volunteer work at Aloma Public School and faithfully
attended the Toronto International Film Festival. Her passion
for social issues led her to deep and rewarding involvement with
the Academy for Life Long Learning. Special thanks to Doctor Ralph
GILBERT of the University Health Network for his skill, candour
and compassion throughout Joyce's illness. No flowers please,
however if you'd care to make a donation in Joyce's name, her
favourite charities were the Council of Canadians (www.canadians.org)
and the David Suzuki Foundation (www.davidsuzuki.org). Donations
to Bethell House (www.hospicecaledon.ca), a residential hospice
being constructed by Hospice Caledon that would have made Joyce's
final days more comfortable, would also be appreciated. Or, as
Joyce so often did, take a stand when you perceive an injustice
make your voice heard. A celebration of Joyce's life will be
held on Saturday, March 15 at 1: 00 p.m. at the Port Credit Library,
20 Lakeshore Rd. E., Mississauga.
