Peacefully at her residence in Meaford and with her family on Friday January 11, 2008. Veryl REMY, beloved wife of Tom REMY, at the age of 70. Loving mother of Brenda REMY of Orillia and Janice (Derek) BENSON of Barrie and fondly remembered grandmother of their children Genevieve and Elise. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Steve BEDARD of Meaford First Baptist Church, will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher Street East in Meaford on Tuesday January 15 at 1: 30 p.m. with cremation to follow. Family will receive Friends at the funeral home the hour prior to service. A family service of interment of Veryl's cremated remains will be conducted at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford at a later date. Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Trillium Villa on Friday, March 28, 2008 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Charlotte (VAUTOUR) and the late Simone. Dear father of the late Lorraine MUSSIO and Frances (Trixie) COLLIER. Father-in-law of Peter MUSSIO, Camlachie and Fran's partner Randy BAXTER, Sarnia. Very special grandfather to Paul (Cathy) MUSSIO, Grand Bend, John (Annette) MUSSIO, Alan (Jayne) COLLIER, Michelle (Lee) PAWLEY and Nicole (Rob) SOKOL all of Sarnia. Great-grandfather of Emily and Daniel MUSSIO and Corey and Spencer PAWLEY. Brother of Fern (Muriel) COURCHESNE, Sudbury, Reina (Joe) LILKO, Milton, Andre (Jacqueline) COURCHESNE, Sarnia and Cecile (George) LANGLOIS, Orleans. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Clara (MORISSETTE) COURCHESNE, brothers Herve and Robert COURCHESNE and sister-in-law Norene. Paul managed Murphy Tobacco in Sarnia for over 30 years. Because of his love for fishing and the outdoors he spent his retirement years in Tobermory on Dorcas Bay Rd. He was a veteran of World War 2, stationed at the Alaskan border. Paul was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Royal Canadian Naval Association, the Point Edward Ex-Servicemen's Association and the 1st Hussars W.O. and Sergeant's Mess. At Paul's request there will be no funeral home visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Matthew BEDARD at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to McKenzie and Blundy Funeral Home (519-344-3131). The former Wilma THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON passed away peacefully at Lee Manor in Owen Sound on Tuesday April 1, 2008 in her 101st year. Born in Euphrasia Township, Wilma was a daughter of the late Wesley and Catherine (née McKENZIE) THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON. She was predeceased in 1977 by her husband Danard Alexander COOK of Meaford and formerly of Rocklyn. She will be remembered as the loving mother of Keith COOK (Sheila) of Brantford, Douglas COOK (Pat) of Collingwood, and Sandra McDOUGALL (Tom) of R.R.#5 Owen Sound. Sadly missed Grandma of six and great-grandmother of eleven. Predeceased by an infant son Gerald, and by a sister, Jean CLUGSTON. Family will receive Friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Saturday April 5, 2008 from 11: 30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. where funeral services, officiated by Reverend Steve BEDARD, will be conducted on Saturday at 1: 30 o'clock with committal service and interment following at Lakeview Cemetery. Beloved wife of the late Allan WILSON. Loving mother of Gordon WILSON (Mary) of R.R.#8, Owen Sound, Doreen HILLS (Howard) of the Bruce Peninsula and Jim WILSON (Stella) of Brampton. Lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren; Janette, Jim, Christa, Sam, David and Emmy, nine great-grandchildren, five sisters and one sister-in-law. Predeceased by two brothers and one sister. On Tuesday, April 8, 2008, Jean Ella (REVINGTON) LOBSINGER, age 96, went home to be with her Lord. Beloved wife of 64 years of the late Doctor Leonard LOBSINGER. A wonderful and loving mother to Joe LOBSINGER and his wife Anne, Sarnia and Marie and her husband Doctor William DAFOE, Edmonton. Dear grandmother of Stephanie, Karoline, Kristen, Allan and Joanna. Great-grandmother of Madeline, Annabelle, Cameron and Anders. Sister of Kathleen (Kay) LANKIN, Lucan. Predeceased by granddaughter Heather DAFOE, brothers Wesley and Sheridan and by sisters Marie, Gayle and Eva. Mom was born in Lucan, Ontario and graduated in 1933 in Nursing at the Sarnia General Hospital. For over 50 years, she managed a loving home and supervised Dad's Animal Hospital practice at their Davis St. home. She was a life long member of Saint_Joseph's Catholic Women's League and served as a volunteer for the Children's Aid Society. A special thank you to Marilyn, Rhoda and all the special angels who made it possible for Mom to stay in her own home. Much appreciation to the staff at Trillium Villa Nursing and especially Rhoda for their wonderful care in the last 2 years. Peacefully at his home in Port Franks on Monday, June 9th, 2008. Gerry will be deeply missed by his loving family. Wife and friend of 48 years Gladys (née MORRISON,) daughters Jody and son-in-law Daniel BOILEAU (Sechelt, British Columbia), Jennifer and son-in-law Paul BROUWER (London.) " Grampy" to Allison and Thea, his little sweethearts who will miss him dearly. Born in Morcambe, England in 1933, Gerry emigrated to Canada in 1948 with his late parents Jack and Jane SHAW. Survived by siblings Kathleen MacDONALD (Don) of London, Phyllis NEEDHAM (Don ELLIS) of Wasaga Beach, David SHAW (Janet) of Glenwood, Newfoundland. and Anne MUIR (Wilson) of Wasaga Beach. Gerry will be missed by Ross and Louise MORRISON of Mount Forest and Grant and Elsie MORRISON of Courtney, British Columbia. Gerry will also be missed by many nieces and nephews who have fond memories of their summer visits to the cottage. A long time resident of London, Ontario, Gerry moved to the cottage in his retirement after 45 years service at the London Free Press, where he made several lifelong Friends. He was an avid lover of birds and nature, and enjoyed his time spent with Friends and family at Port Franks. Sincere thanks from Gerry's family to Doctor Brian DINGLE and Nancy FULTON at the London Regional Cancer Centre, the nursing staff of C7 300 and Doctor JEJE at Victoria Hospital in London. Heartfelt thanks to the Community Care Access Centre and Palliative teams in London and Lambton County, with special gratitude for the compassionate care provided by nurses Linda BURNS and Margaret KAWASE. On February 10, 2008 William 'Bill' Henry DOWARD of Gwynne, Alberta passed away at the age of 83 years. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Velda; children, Judy (Jerry) BEDFORD of Mannville, Pat (Ken) GOODALE of Battle Lake, William (Susan) DOWARD of London, Ontario and Tom DOWARD of Gwynne; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren sisters, Helen STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and Edith MITCHELL of Wetaskiwin as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many Friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents, John and Lillian DOWARD; daughter, Pamela; grand_son, Kevin GOODALE; granddaughter, Sarah JOHNSON; brother, John and sister, Betty. It is with deep sorrow and heartache that we announce the death of Joyce Morden BEDFORD on Saturday, March 8, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Joyce will be missed by her son Clay, daughters Catherine STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and her husband Jim and Jennifer and her husband Barry ELMES, brother Jim BELL and his wife Audrey, grandchildren Emma and Graeme STEWARD/STEWART/STUART, step-granddaughter Jennifer VERGOS, nephews and nieces, and a myriad of Friends ranging in age from 6 to 96. Born on May 10, 1928 in Niagara Falls, Joyce grew up in St. Lambert, Quebec, and attended McGill University. head librarian at Malton District Library from 1967 until her retirement in 1992, Joyce delighted in sharing her love to read with others. In her retirement, she remained active championing various causes and advocating for social justice through the political system. She did volunteer work at Aloma Public School and faithfully attended the Toronto International Film Festival. Her passion for social issues led her to deep and rewarding involvement with the Academy for Life Long Learning. Special thanks to Doctor Ralph GILBERT of the University Health Network for his skill, candour and compassion throughout Joyce's illness. No flowers please, however if you'd care to make a donation in Joyce's name, her favourite charities were the Council of Canadians (www.canadians.org) and the David Suzuki Foundation (www.davidsuzuki.org). Donations to Bethell House (www.hospicecaledon.ca), a residential hospice being constructed by Hospice Caledon that would have made Joyce's final days more comfortable, would also be appreciated. Or, as Joyce so often did, take a stand when you perceive an injustice make your voice heard. A celebration of Joyce's life will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 1: 00 p.m. at the Port Credit Library, 20 Lakeshore Rd. E., Mississauga.
