After a long brave battle with leukemia, Michael left this world
to sing, ski, play tennis and golf in the next. He died peacefully
at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital where he had been
a staff member for 45 years. Lovingly remembered and greatly
missed by his wife

Also missed by his grandchildren Scott,

Survived by his brothers Bob (Virginia) and Ian (Maria) and many
nieces and nephews. Michael was born in Montreal. He attended
Bishops College School where he was head Prefect. He graduated
from Dalhousie Medical School in 1959 and went on to be a family
doctor (Dr. Mike) in Oakville. He also cherished his years as
the school doctor at Appleby College and camp doctor at Kilcoo.
His passion was for his family, his patients, teaching about
diabetes to whomever would listen, and lately singing with the
Oakville Entertainers. A fine athlete, he will be missed on the
hills of Holimont and on the course of the Toronto Golf Club.

Bev and Joanne and his fans at the Halton Diabetes Program. A Funeral
Service will be held at Saint_Jude's Anglican Church, 160 William
Street, Oakville on Thursday, May 8th, 2008 at 2: 00 p.m. Reception
to follow. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, please
give the gift of blood. Donations can be made to the Oakville
Hospital Foundation or the OHF Halton Diabetes Program. Arrangements

Merle graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master's
degree in languages before embarking on an editorial career with
the Government of Canada in Ottawa. She was an accomplished editor
of many publications which included the Royal Commission on Bilingualism
and Biculturalism, and after retirement, was senior English editor
for the National Museums Corporation of Canada. Merle was an
active member of the Media Club of Canada for over 40 years.
She had a lifelong passion for books, photography, the arts and
traveled most of the world, including several trips to the Middle
East and yearly visits to Italy. She was a prolific writer, documenting
her life and travels in journals, postcards and letters. A lifelong
student, she studied Italian and Russian in her later years.
