Toronto, in her 93rd year. Predeceased by her husband of 45 years,

JOHNSON of Vancouver. Predeceased by her brother Val and his
wife Magda,▼ and brothers Harold, Raymond and Randolph
JOHNSON.
Born in Tantallon, Saskatchewan, Esther grew up in Prince Albert
and Wynyard. She graduated from Saskatoon Normal School and taught
school in Aneroid before meeting Harold at Dafoe. They married
in 1944 and soon moved to Toronto, where they resided on Tyrrell
Avenue and then Inglewood Drive. Proud of her Icelandic heritage,
she and Harold were staunch supporters of the Icelandic Canadian
Club of Toronto. They were avid curlers at the Granite Club and
enjoyed family summers at Balsam Lake, and skiing at Limberlost
and Summit. For many years she volunteered as a teacher's assistant
at inner city schools, and as a teacher of English as a Second
Language. Esther was a long time member of Timothy Eaton Memorial
Church and an enthusiastic participant in its Community Service
Club.
A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at the Humphrey
Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south
of Eglinton Avenue East) on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 11 o'clock.

The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home -
A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue
East) from 7: 00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28. A Memorial
Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, May 29 at 11 o'clock.
