DOY, Joy (née COUSINEAU)
Passed away peacefully on June 1, 2008 at Hannah Walker Place, Owen Sound, after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by her children, Debralee BIDGOOD and her son Michael Robert MacALEESE; Victoria MacALEESE and her children Christopher HILL, Cara HILL- McMILLAN and her husband Chris and their children Samantha and Austin; Angela PATTESON and her husband Cliff and their children Ryan, Amanda and Rochelle; and Bob ENNS. Also survived by her sister Fay McKENZIE and her husband William. Joy was a long time member and volunteer with the Owen Sound Little Theatre and the Georgian Bay Folk Society, which gave her great joy in her life. Joy's family and Friends will remember her artistic, crafty and writing talents. A celebration of life will be planned later in the summer. McLAREN, KEN
Ken McLAREN, one of this area's well-known and respected residents, passed away on Thursday, April 17 as the result of a heart attack. Ken was in his 84th year. He was a retired farmer, he was a loving uncle, a treasured neighbour and friend.
Kenneth, son of George and Alice McLAREN was born June 16, 1924 and spent most of his life working the family farm in Melancthon Township. He and his brother Delmar purchased the farm from their father George upon his retirement in 1972 Upon Ken's retirement in 1986 he moved into Dundalk on Victoria Street, and following his mother's passing moved to the Highview apartment in Dundalk in 1998.
Ken's daily routine would not be complete without going to the Junction Restaurant in the morning for coffee, playing cards at the card room and visiting Friends, relatives and neighbours. He enjoyed going to auction sales with cousin Carol and Ernie HAWTON. He was an avid euchre player and loved to go to the Bingo. Ken always supported and looked forward to attending community events such as the Firemen's Frolic, Dundalk Fair Honeywood Barbecue suppers, Dundalk Town Hall Theatre, Pepper Tournaments and Turkey Rolls at the Lions Club. He was also a member of the Dundalk Young at Heart Club. He enjoyed sports especially baseball and hockey. He would always attend local hockey games of cousins and great nephews.
Ken joins in eternal rest his parents, George and Alice McLAREN, brothers Wilbert, McKinley and Delmar and sisters Muriel NEVILLE and Blanche O'CONNOR, niece Donalda MILNE and nephew Grant NEVILLE.
Ken is survived by nieces Paulette RYAN, St. Catharines, Janice WEBSTER, Dundalk, Linda MacDONALD, Georgetown and Heather VERPAALEN, Laurel and nephews Gordon, Oakville and David McLAREN, Stratford, and great nephews Albert, Grant and Frank MILNE, Thomas and Dillon Ryan, Elliott and Jonathan McLAREN, Zack and Gage VERPAALEN, Conner and great niece Kaylee McLAREN.
The service was conducted by Mark DAVIDSON, minister of the Erskine Presbyterian Church who provided comforting words and prayers to the family and Friends. Music included, Praise My Soul the King of Heaven, What a Wonderful World and Go Rest High on that Mountain. Don PATTON played Amazing Grace on the bagpipes.
The pallbearers were Brian BROSTER, David, Elliott and Jonathan McLAREN, Thomas RYAN and Lynn KEATING. Honourary pallbearers were Harvey CLARKE, Ernie HAWTON, Mac McLAREN, Grant PRESTON, Bob SCOTT, Vern SAINT_JOHN and Ivan WILTSHIRE.
Interment was in Badjeros Cemetery.
Following the committal service at Badjeros, Friends were invited to the Erskine Presbyterian Church in Dundalk for refreshments and a time to visit. The lunch was provided by the ladies of the church.
Ken will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by many Friends, relatives and neighbours. To have been part of his life was truly an honour and a blessing.
God now has you in His hands, we will always have you in our hearts.

Predeceased by brother Billy, and survived by sister Maxine (Nichols) of Ottawa, niece Barbara Ann (Tucson) and great-niece Emily, nephew Frank Henry (Ottawa) and great-nephews Nick and Sebastian. Born March 11, 1912 in Goderich, Ruth graduated from Alexander Marine and General Hospital. She nursed privately in Goderich and London, and at Victoria Hospital and Saint_Joseph's, but had the family home in Goderich where she was active in the community for many years. HODGINS, Kristin " Kris" Leigh
After a valiant battle with cancer, Kristin (Kris) Leigh HODGINS, age 37, passed away at South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Saturday, May 3, 2008. Much loved and cherished daughter of Greg and Kathy HODGINS of Grand Bend. Loving sister of Susan PATTON of Grand Bend and Jill and Mike BALE of Woodstock. Special aunt to Colin and Devon PATTON and Paxton BALE. Dear granddaughter of Ida HODGINS of London. Beloved niece of Joan and Dick BORE of Sarnia and Brad HODGINS of London. Kris will be sadly missed by her many Friends and relatives, especially by her longtime best friend Lisa and Bob NYEBOER. To know Kris was to love her. She was an extraordinary young woman who lived her short life to the fullest with grace, humor and love. Cremation with interment Grand Bend Cemetery. A celebration of Kris's life will take place at Oakwood Inn Resort, (Terrace Room) Grand Bend on Saturday, May 10th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Susan MOORE officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to South Huron Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital Lodge or Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Passed away peacefully on Saturday May 24, 2008 at the General and Marine Hospital, Collingwood, in her 86th year. Gladys of Stayner, beloved wife of the late Alvin (1995). Dear sister of the late Roy PATTON, the late Jean HARE and the late Mae WILSON. Aunt of many nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the Carruthers and Davidson Funeral Home, 7313 Highway 26 (Main St.), Stayner (705-428-2637) from 2-4 and 7~9 p.m. on Tuesday May 27, 2008. Funeral Service will be held at the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd, 219 Scott Street, Stayner, on Wednesday May 28, 2008 at 11 o'clock. Interment Creemore Union Cemetery. Jean passed away peacefully at Providence Manor in her 89th year on Friday, May 30, 2008. Beloved wife of the late Captain Arthur HUGHES (Signal Corps, R.C.E.M.E..) Dearly loved mother to Susan PATTON (Dr. Jack PATTON) of Bermuda. Cherished grandmother to Katie DUGUAY (Stéphane), Jessica PATTON (Brad KNECHTEL) and John PATTON. COLLINS, Paul Joseph
Lt. Cdr Royal Canadian Navy (Ret'd)
Peacefully, in Victoria, on Saturday April 26, 2008, after a quiet and inspiring battle with cancer. Loving husband for 55 years of Reneé (neé PATTULLO,) devoted father to Jo-anne (Rick,) Michael (Mary-Ellen) and Siobhan (Dave), and proud 'Papa' to Aisleen, Calum, Laurel, Leah, Rachael, Mariclaire and Caroline. Born in Guelph, Ontario in 1930, Paul's early training on the Speed River led to a career in the Royal Canadian Navy, where he was to dedicate 23 years of his life. Paul began his second career, as a personnel officer and then director, with the British Columbia Ministry of Health in 1974. After retirement from public service, he found time to devote to his grandchildren, drive fast cars and to read selections from his extensive library (mostly Naval). Proud of his family history and Canadian and Irish heritage, Paul is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Ruby, and brother-in-law Fred, and fondly remembered by his sister Marilyn, brother Jerry (Mary), sister-in-law Audrey (Frank) and brother-in-law Bill (Sheri). Thanks are owed to the staff and volunteers at Victoria Hospice for their kind care. A private family service was held. Donations, if desired, may be made to the charity of one's choice.
