He was 77
PARRISH worked at the Collingwood Shipyards for more than 40 years
and was an avid historian.
According to Deputy Mayor Sandra

Former Mayor Terry
GEDDES, who gave the eulogy at
PARRISH's funeral,
said he will be sadly missed.
"When he died, not only did a piece of his family die, but so

John attended Brantford

during the war. After 1945, he returned to Brantford and began
his cabinetmaking career on Richardson Street where he created
his woodworking masterpieces for the next 60 years. Examples
of his superb craftsmanship grace numerous homes and businesses
throughout Brant County. In the summer, when not 'at the shop',
John could be found perfecting his other passion on the local
golf fair ways. He was a formidable opponent, but always a more
generous friend and playing partner - he achieved his treasured
'hole in one' late on in his career at the Burford Golf Links.
John will be loved and remembered by all for his bighearted spirit,
his corny sense of humour, and always 'being there' for family
and Friends. Please join our family in celebrating John's modest,
but still remarkable and exemplary life. If a man's life can
be measured by the firmness and warmth of his handshake, then
John had no equal. Visitation will be held at McCleister Funeral

Tara PARTON, 15, remembered as fighter
Became a spokesperson for Cystic Fibrosis cause
By John EDWARDS,

Tara PARTON lived more than 5,734 days, and lived every one to.
the fullest
said an uncle this week as the family prepared for her funeral
Tuesday.
PARTON, who underwent a double-lung transplant in April 2005,
passed away last Friday morning at her Collingwood home with
her parents Doug and Shannon by her side. She was 15.
Tara▼ was described by her uncle, Jeff
PARTON, as a courageous
individual, a fighter, who never let her health get her down.
Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was three-months-old,
he said she always lived life to the fullest. He said the way
she accepted her mortality really impressed him.
"Her reality of the situation - she knew death was imminent and
she never wanted to go ahead and wallow in self pity" he said.
Jeff said his niece was artistic and an animal lover.
Sarah LAGEER has called Tara a friend since Grade 3 but started
spending a lot more time with her over the last three years.
"I would go see her every day after school," she said.
LAGEER said Tara was a loyal friend and a good listener.
"If I wasn't having a really good day, she would listen to me
and offer advice and it was usually pretty good advice
LAGEER
recalls.
She said some of her favourite times were swimming at the Young
Men's Christian Association or just talking.
"We would have sleepovers and stay up until 2 a.m. just talking
and watching movies," she said.
"She didn't really want (her condition) to take time away that
she could spend with her Friends,"
LAGEER said "She lived life
to the fullest"
Her uncle said the disease took hold over her in the last five
months and over the last several weeks she became ill.
"She struggled forward," he said. In an April 2006 Interview
Tara described herself as the survivor in a trio of young Cystic
Fibrosis patients who became closely bonded during their hospital
stays.
Her "long, hard wait" ended after 18 months on the transplant
list with her lungs down to just 20 per cent capacity.
"We made a pact, the last one here would live to become an old
lady," she recounted then. Her two Friends did not survive.
"I guess that is up to me now and I will do my best," she said.
"I do not know how long I will live, but I am grateful for my
second chance at life."
Tara became an advocate for Cystic Fibrosis and organ donations.
She is survived by her mother Shannon, father Doug, brother Cody
and sister Ashley, grandmother Shirley
PARTON, grandparents Mel
and Eleanor
MATHER and nephew Logan. She was predeceased by her
brother Ryan.
