Edith Mae RUMBLE (HIGGS) was born to Levi and Myrtle HIGGS (CAMPBELL) on June 2, 1920. She married her husband Leighton Frederick RUMBLE (1983) on October 3, 1941. The most important thing in life to Edith and Leighton was their family. She was the proud mother of 5 sons, and grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her boys, her pride and joy, Ted and Brenda RUMBLE, Erie Beach, her special son Timmy (1997,) Tony and Gail RUMBLE, Raglan, Michael and Nancy RUMBLE, Blenheim, and David and Carolyn RUMBLE, Blenheim. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Husband, Dad and Grandpa after a brief and courageous battle against cancer on Saturday April 12th, 2008 at the Brampton Civic Hospital. Brian is survived by his loving wife, Liz, his children, Phoebe (Richard) MURRAY, Jane▼ (Rob▼) RYAN, and John (Jennifer) and his grandchildren Brian, Cara, Erin, Rachael, Maggie, Anna, James and Georgia. Sadly missed also by his dog Benson. Brian was a graduate of Queen's University, Belfast (1955); prior to that he attended MCB and was head boy. He practised in anaesthesia in Northern Ireland prior to coming to Canada, where he continued his career at Peel Memorial Hospital until his retirement in 2002. Native of Margaree, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, daughter of Austen and Marie MURRAY, died at London Health Sciences Centre - Victoria Hospital, London, in her 89th year, on Saturday, April 19, 2008. Married for 62 years, she leaves her beloved husband Alvin "Al" brothers Harry (Betty WHITLEY,) Austen and Ian; children Ron (Zeny GERONIMO,) and Reverend Rob (Carroll TOMEN;) ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and Friends. Predeceased by her daughter Lynn Margaret HOEFLOK (1992) and her sister Anna Marie PAYNE (2007.) After completing High School, Grace applied for and was offered at position with the Federal Income Tax Department in Halifax, Nova Scotia, which she held until a few years after her marriage. In 1951 Grace and Al with infant son Ron, moved to Toronto where Al joined the firm of Lawson and Jones Limited. They lived in Toronto for 20 years, when Al was transferred to head Office of the Company in London, Ontario. After Al's retirement in 1982, they continued to live in London to the present time. Grace and Al have been active members of First-St. Andrew's United Church, London since their arrival in the city. Grace was a choir member for some 20 years. She has been a member of the United Church Women (was recently awarded a Life Membership pin). She was a charter member of the Brush and Pallet Club, and has produced dozens of oil and water-colour paintings. Grace's other hobbies included: her flower garden, outside in season, and a comprehensive display all year around in eight rooms of her home. Over a dozen outside bird-feeding stations, many used all year around. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. On July 22, 2008 in his 89th year. Allan was an Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve rating, an officer in World War 2 and an actuary by profession. His loving partner, Cheryl ROBINSON, survives him. Predeceased by his wives, Lillian and Madeleine and his sister Muriel. He is also survived by his daughter, Anne and her husband Geoffrey MURRAY, his step-son, Warren WOLFENDEN and his wife Lori, and six grandchildren: Willa and Adrian MURRAY, Ethan and Meghan WOLFENDEN and Jessie and Jamie DALTON. He was a special friend to Cheryl's family. Allan was a kind, gentle man who enjoyed travel, Friends and family immensely. His joy of life was shared with many and will be missed by all who have survived him. The family wish to extend our thanks to the trauma team at Victoria Hospital, especially Donna HESCH, who comforted Allan and his family. Grandfather of Jennifer, Jeffrey and Jamie ROUTLEDGE; Matthew, Andrew and David MURRAY. Great-grandfather of Carter ROUTLEDGE. Also remembered by his brother, Doctor Eric MURRAY, and family.
Stan was the Charter President and Life Member of the Canadian Fire Safety Association; Life Member of the National Fire Protection Association; Member for Life of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. He was the founding Coordinator, Fire Protection Technology, Seneca College.
During World War 2, Stan served in General Montgomery's 8th Army in the North African, Sicilian, and Italian Campaigns in the Lanark and Renfrew (42nd) Scottish Regiment; then Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment. He was a Sergeant in the Corps of Military Staff Clerks, and served in 2nd Echelon, Canadian Mediterranean Forces Headquarters, A.F.H.Q.
Friends may call on Thursday, January 31 from 6-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street, Toronto. Service to be held on Friday, February 1 at 11 a.m. at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, 230 St. Clair Avenue West. A reception will be held at the church following the service.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ian STEWARD/STEWART/STUART at the age of 60. Ian passed away peacefully at Penticton Regional Hospital in Penticton, British Columbia with his family at his side, after a brief battle with Leukemia. Ian is survived by his loving wife, Doctor Jacqueline STEWARD/STEWART/STUART, his two sons Trevor STEWARD/STEWART/STUART (daughter-in-law Kelly FREEMAN) of Toronto, Ontario, and Andrew STEWARD/STEWART/STUART of Penticton, and brother Geoffrey MURRAY of Etobicoke, Ontario, and sister-in-law Arlene WOITKIW of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Ian was predeceased by his Mother, Catherine STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and Father Harold R. STEWARD/STEWART/STUART. Ian was born in Fort William (Thunder Bay), Ontario and attended Selkirk Collegiate and Lakehead University. Ian and Jackie married in Thunder Bay then went to Exeter, England to attend Exeter University for post graduate studies. Ian and Jackie moved to Toronto where Jackie attended medical school and lived in Toronto for 26 years and was a long time resident of Fallingbrook Drive in the beaches. The family moved to Penticton, British Columbia in 2004 and Ian loved the spectacular Okanagan Valley. Ian taught courses at Lakehead University before the family moved to Toronto where his wife attended Medical School. He worked several years at Miracle Food Mart while Jackie studied medicine. He also worked for the Federal Government in the Passport Office in Scarborough, Ontario. Subsequently, Ian found what became his passion in life - the Stock Market. He worked independently for a number of years trading stocks. This was the second most important aspect of Ian's life after his family. Ian was very passionate about politics. He ran in a Federal Election for member of Parliament in Thunder Bay at the age of 25. Although he was not successful, he avidly followed everything in politics all of his life. Ian was also very active. He started jogging in his 20's, later got his wife hooked on running and in the last year loved running with his labradoodle, Jack on the KVR trail in Penticton. Ian's favourite sport was baseball and was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Not too many games were missed and his favourite thing to do was go to the games at the Skydome in Toronto. Ian also loved his pets and was very attached to his dog Jack, Tommy the parrot and the late Pigwidgeon the cockatiel. Ian will be profoundly missed by his wife of 36 years, Jackie, sons Trevor (Kelly) and Andrew. Died on February 29, 2008 with his family at his side at the Ian Anderson House in Oakville, Ontario after a short and courageous battle with a brain tumour. Loving husband, friend and soul mate of Tilla, adored father of Andrea (Gerwyn JONES,) Stephanie (Karl MURRAY) and Marcia (Mark WISEMAN) and proud granddad of Alexander and Colin. Bill was predeceased by his dear brother Jim. He will be sadly missed by his brothers Fred and John, his sisters-in-law and their families. Bill had a rewarding medical career as a general surgeon. He was truly committed to his patients and highly respected by his peers. Bill's compassion, warmth and wisdom will continue to guide us all. She was well respected in the health care field, receiving the Order of Ontario in 1989. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, Dad and Grandpa after a brief and courageous battle against cancer on Saturday April 12th, 2008 at the Brampton Civic Hospital. Brian is survived by his loving wife, Liz, his children, Phoebe (Richard) MURRAY, Jane▲▼ (Rob▲) RYAN, and John (Jennifer) and his grandchildren Brian, Cara, Erin, Rachael, Maggie, Anna, James and Georgia. Sadly missed also by his dog Benson. Brian was a graduate of Queen's University, Belfast (1955); prior to that he attended MCB and was head boy. He practised in anaesthesia in Northern Ireland prior to coming to Canada, where he continued his career at Peel Memorial Hospital until his retirement in 2002. Thank you to the staff in the Critical Care Unit and Intensive Care Unit at Brampton Civic Hospital for their care and attention. Visitation will be held at Ward Funeral Home 52 Main St. S. Predeceased by her sister "Ningie" (Alice Mary) YOUNG and brother-in-law James Mason YOUNG. Beloved sister of Doctor William Sutcliffe MacKENZIE (the late S. Ann MacKENZIE.) Dearest aunt of Cynthia J. D'ONOFRIO (George) and Wendy A. MURRAY (John▲) and devoted great-aunt of Andrea N. D'ONOFRIO and David W. D'ONOFRIO. Cousin of Joyce MENARD (Skip) of Montreal. Lifetime career and very valued employee of Confederation Life in Toronto and Employers Mutual Insurance Company of Wassau in the U.S.A. Passed away peacefully on Saturday June 14, 2008 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at the age of 82, surrounded by his 4 loving daughters; Leslie BUSH- HARRISS, Kimberley GOULD, Kerry COOK, Lindsey DRAGONE. Survived by his wife Dorothy and his sons-in-law Hal GOULD, Mike COOK and Nick DRAGONE. Lovingly remembered by his 8 grandchildren, Daniel HARRISS, Hallie and John GOULD, Jordan and Barrett COOK, Frank, Dana and Cole DRAGONE. Also survived by his sisters Audley (George) JACKSON, North Carolina; Beverley MURRAY, Toronto and Linda BRESNAHAN, Massachusetts, and their children.
Born Verdun, Quebec 1925; served as Seaman for R.C.N. and R.N. and on H.M.C.S. Snowberry 1943-45. Member of P.E.O., A.P.P.E.G.A., I.E.E.E., U.N.T.D. (Upper Canada) and Zeta Delta of Sigma Nu.
Ley grew up in Montreal, and maintained ties with Friends, colleagues and family there after he left to enlist in the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 17. His service in the navy on the H.M.C.S. Snowberry, and particularly its role during the preparation stages of D-Day, had a profound effect on his life and he continued his association with the Canadian Naval Association until his death. As a veteran, he attended memorial services held in Canada, Normandy and recently at the 60th anniversary of the V.E. Day celebrations in The Netherlands.
Upon his discharge from the service, Ley travelled to Toronto where he met and married Dorothy MOUNTJOY. He then enrolled at the University of Toronto and obtained his Electrical Engineering Degree. He was passionate about his chosen profession and only retired, reluctantly, in his seventies. His career allowed him to indulge another passion: travel, and he worked on many projects abroad, including Europe, Hong Kong and The Phillippines.
Ley and Dorothy had four daughters in quick succession, who subsequently married and provided him with sons-in-law, and eight grandchildren whom he adored. Poppa was devoted to his grandchildren and has left them all very special memories of family ski trips, evenings at the horseraces, and amusing tales and anecdotes from his childhood.
He will be thoroughly missed and his memory cherished.
Ley passed from this life as he lived it: unfailingly civilized, considerate and dignified. Rest in peace Dad.

At home, surrounded by her family, cherished wife of Peter KEAY, loving and devoted mother to Jennifer (Ken GODMERE,) Alexandra (David MURRAY) and Rebecca (David FIFE,) loving "Gran" to Emma, Andrew, Alexa and Victoria. "Pat" entered the Drama School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto in 1947 and emerged three years later to perform in theatre and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation radio across Ontario and in Bermuda. Her love of books, theatre, art and music were contagious which she shared lovingly with her children and grandchildren whom she adored. The family extends deep appreciation to Doctor Wallace ARCHIBALD of the Russell Medical Clinic, physician and dear friend, and to our exceptional palliative team of Saint Elizabeth Health Care and the Champlain Community Care Access Centre. At Pat's request there will be no visitation. A private, family service will be held at Saint_James' cemetery in Toronto at a later date. Passed away in his 86th year in Toronto on July 7, 2008. Born in Flatlands, New Brunswick to Sarah (FRASER) and William, raised on the beautiful Restigouche River. Devoted husband of 56 years to his loving wife Evelyn (WAKEM) and loving and generous father to Michele and Diane, proud father-in-law to John OSTERHOLM and doting Grampa to Holly, Kevin, Sarah and Rachel. Dear brother to Faye MURRAY (Harold,▲) Shirley MILLER (Chester) and Margaret FEARON (Hibert,) of New Brunswick. Predeceased by his brothers Clifford (Lena), Reid (Ivy), Paul (Opal), Gerald (Clara), and William (Kaye). Affectionately remembered as Uncle Jackie by many nieces, nephews and cousins across Canada. Faithful member of St. Timothy by the Humber Anglican Church, Ashlar St. Clair Masonic Lodge, the Rameses Shriners Temple and The Royal Canadian Legion. Decorated World War 2 Veteran who joined the Armed Forces while underage and saw active duty overseas. Graduated with Honours from Forestry school in New Brunswick, eventually relocated to Ontario and worked in the aircraft industry for many years, including the famed Avro Arrow. Retired from the Ontario Ministry of Corrections to enjoy a life of leisure, travel to Cuba and cooking. Famous far and wide for his homemade cornbread, biscuits and many types of jams and marmalades. A gregarious, kind hearted, fun loving family man who will be sorely missed by his many Friends and family.

Sister Janet died peacefully at Saint_Joseph's Convent, Toronto, on Tuesday, March 11, 2008. She is the daughter of the late Norman MURRAY and Anne WALKE. Her▲ three brothers, Wallace, Fr. Leo and Norman predeceased her. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. Throughout her long life Sr. Janet served as both an educator and a hospital administrator. She was well respected in the health care field, receiving the Order of Ontario in 1989. Her wake will be at Saint_Joseph's Convent, 3377 Bayview Avenue, Willowdale, from 3: 30 p.m. on Thursday, March 13th, with a prayer vigil at 7: 30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, March 14th, at 10: 30 a.m. followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

No immediate service is planned, but a commemoration of Norma's delightful, doughty and enduring spirit will take place in spring, when we'll lay her to rest on the Bruce Peninsula, one of her favourite places.

John passed away on June 18th, peacefully and with his family by his side, as a result of cancer and heart failure. Beloved husband to Anita. Loving father to Norma (Bill), Mike (Adriane) and Rick. Dear Grandpa to Joel, Dean, Marta, Hannah and Andrew. John was a devoted family man who worked hard and lived simply, with honesty and integrity. Throughout his life, John worked with his hands. After many years in the sheet metal and air balance industries, he dedicated himself to a career as a self-taught craftsman and became renowned for his fine hand made briar pipes, which are treasured by collectors throughout the world. John will be remembered by those who knew him best, for his love of family, his talent, modesty, independent spirit, and especially his wry sense of humour. Telemarketers may now rest easier, knowing that John will no longer be answering the phone. The family wishes to most sincerely thank the many dedicated physicians, nurses and others who have treated John, including most recently Drs. BRADE, WAN and Andrea MOLCKOVSKY and the remarkable technicians at Princess Margaret Hospital; Doctors GUPTA, LE FEUVRE, SHARMA, PATEL, McISAAC, KING, TIU and MURTHY at the Trillium Health Centre and our longtime friend and family physician Doctor Bohdan MOLCKOVSKY. The family is saddened to announce the passing of June ORR on March 6, 2008. She passed away peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa surrounded by her family. June was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert (Bob) James ORR on August 28, 1989.
June leaves behind her son David (Lori) of Stony Creek, Ontario, and "her twins" - Pamela of Calgary, Alberta and Paul of Ottawa, Ontario. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Lindsay and Katlyn.
June was born in Orangeville, Ontario on June 28, 1927, the cherished only child of Wilfred and Nettie IRWIN. June graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Toronto General Hospital in 1949 and subsequently married Bob (B. Sc., M. Sc, 1949 - University of Toronto) on June 29, 1950. June and Bob then moved to Sarnia, Ontario where June worked at the Sarnia General Hospital prior to starting her family. Bob started his career as a research chemist with Polymar. They were active members of Central United Church where Bob used to entertain fellow members of the congregation with his stories and jokes at the coffee gatherings held after the service. They then moved to Ottawa in 1971 where June worked as an R.N. at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and from where she retired in 1986. Bob finished his career in Ottawa with the Department of National Defense. They continued to enjoy the camaraderie of Britannia United Church in Ottawa where June remained an active member after Bob's passing.
The family especially wishes to thank Edith MURUNGI for the kind care, compassion and companionship that she provided to our mother in her last years.
Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home 2313 Carling Avenue (West of Carlingwood) Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service Monday in the chapel at 11: 00 a.m. Interment at Pinecrest Cemetery.
