COLTERJOHN, Nigel Roger, M.D., (F.R.C.S.C)
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Dr. Nigel COLTERJOHN, age 47, on March 31, 2008. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Meighan, proud and loving father of Tristan, Nicola, Ainslie and Colin. Born in K.L. Malaysia on May 12, 1960, Nigel is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Libby) COLTERJOHN, mother-in-law, Elsie Ann FOSTER, brothers Michael (Moira), Richard (Angela), sister Shaenie (Graeme), brothers-in-law Kevin and D'Arcy FOSTER (Anne) and David GUY and sister-in-law Franca PERNA. He is pre-deceased by his father, Doctor Duncan COLTERJOHN, and his father-in-law, Hugh FOSTER. Nigel will be fondly remembered by his ten nieces and nephews, Ian, Andrew, Brock, Christine, Rebecca, Brendan, Duncan, Connor, and Annabel and Kiera. Nigel was a highly respected orthopaedic surgeon who specialized in joint replacement and reconstructive oncology, touching many lives in the community in the process. He was also a talented athlete, enjoying cycling, golf, skiing, whitewater kayaking and flyfishing. He was declared Trinity College's Athlete of the Year three times during his undergraduate years. Nigel attended medical school at McGill, completed his residency in Hamilton and completed Fellowship training in Toronto, Boston and Bologna, Italy. His diverse interests included a talent for cooking, a passion for drinking and collecting great wine, and a love of travel and experiencing foreign culture. Nigel's greatest pleasure, however, was his family. In spite of the constant demands of his work, he never failed to set aside time to spend with his wife and children. With our family mourn many Friends and colleagues who will remember his enthusiasm, energy, intellect, integrity and joie de vive. Special thanks to the Intensive Care Unit staff at Hamilton General Hospital for their exceptional and compassionate care. The family will receive all visitors at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Avenue (between Mohawk and Fennell) Hamilton, Ontario, from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 3rd, 2008, and on Friday, April 4th, 2008, from 12-2 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A service and reception for Friends and colleagues will be held on Saturday April 5th, 2008, which will celebrate Nigel's life. After a short, courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 19 in her 61st year. Edie will be sorrowfully missed by her husband Mike, her sister Jean KING (Jim,) her brothers Don MORGENROTH (Donna) and Karl MORGENROTH (Marg,) her sister-in-law Elaine CASE (Dan) and her many nieces and nephews. After receiving her degree from University of Western Ontario, Edith continued to pursue post graduate studies and spent a long and rewarding career at CCI and Wallaceburg District Secondary School. She was proud of all of her students and of the accomplishments they had achieved throughout her career. It gave her great joy to share in their successes and to hear that she had been a major influence in many of their lives. Family Friends and students will deeply miss this dedicated, creative and vital woman who inspired and challenged us all to attain the fullest potential. At Middlesex Terrace Nursing Home, Delaware, on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, Gwendolyn Mae (BECKER) WYLLIE of Glencoe and formerly of Woodstock, after a long and courageous battle with cancer in her 63rd year. Gwen will be sadly missed by her son Wray and Wife Michelle of Sundridge and her daughter and best friend Patty MORIN and her husband John of Glencoe. Gwen was treasured by her grandchildren, Joe and Kaylee WYLLIE, Ariel LAUREL and Aaron LANAWAY. Survived by her sisters, Doreen JOHNSTONE, Rhea BECKER, Elaine BECKER, Evelyn COON and brother Graham BECKER. Gwen will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Very special grandfather to Paul (Cathy) MUSSIO, Grand Bend, John (Annette) MUSSIO, Alan (Jayne) COLLIER, Michelle (Lee) PAWLEY and Nicole (Rob) SOKOL all of Sarnia. Great-grandfather of Emily and Daniel MUSSIO and Corey and Spencer PAWLEY. Paul was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Royal Canadian Naval Association, the Point Edward Ex-Servicemen's Association and the 1st Hussars W.O. and Sergeant's Mess. Of Saint Thomas, passed away on Saturday, April 5th, 2008, at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, peacefully, in her 71st year. Dearly loved wife of Donald J. "Flip" WILSON and much loved mother of Richard D. and his wife Judy WILSON of Saint Thomas and the late Corp. Hugh E.O. WILSON (1982,) Loved grandmother of Jamie Jennifer, Tara Lynn, Kiatlynn and Rikki-Lynn. Special family of David SHERRIT of Saint Thomas. Sadly missed by a number of grand grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister Allie MORLEY. Caroline was born in Saint Thomas on December 1, 1937, the daughter of the late Otto WILSON and Elsie ASHTON and step-daughter of the late Hugh ASHTON. She was the accountant for the Saint Thomas Golf and Country Club for 40 years and was a life member of the Club. Caroline was a long time member of the Sweet Adelines and an associate member of Branch 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion. She had been a member of the Disciples of Christ Church and had sang in the choir and taught Sunday School a number of years. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where funeral service will be held Thursday at 1: 00 p.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. It is with sadness the family announces that Nancy passed away in her 86th year on May 12, 2008 following a long and courageous battle with heart disease. Adored wife of Paul, loving mother of Trish, Vicki and Cath, caring "nannie" to Alex, Paul, Josh, Caitlin, Graham and Matthew, "great nannie" to Angus, Sage and Jonas and dear sister to Norah. Nancy graduated from Victoria College, University of Toronto, in 1943 and enjoyed 24 years of library work at York University while continuing to support Paul, rector at St. Matthew the Apostle, Oriole. She spent her happiest years in retirement with family and Friends on Lake Kawagama, in Dorset, Ontario. "Mum was still mothering us all to the very end". Cremation has taken place and a memorial celebration of her life will be held on Saturday June 7 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Anglican Church, 79 Victoria Street, Aurora, Ontario L4G 1R3. Nelson was still a work in progress when the Lord took him unto Himself. Beloved husband of the late Iris Helena (October 2004) and Willowmine May (May 1989), Nelson leaves the gift of many happy memories in the hearts of his daughter, Starr BELL of R.R.#1, Warsaw, son Gary ALLAN (deceased) of Burlington and his wife Laima. He will live in the hearts of his four grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Tricia (Matt McGUANE, Ben,) Gavin BELL, Shannon (Jim MORREALE, Hannah and Matthew) and Krista (Ray LOYA, Alexander). Nelson, through his marriage to Helen, gained a loving extended family. He will be fondly remembered by her daughter Heather VANDRIE (William) of Brighton, Barbara MATTHEWS (Victor, deceased) of Kingston, and her son Doctor Robert ORR (Sue) of Orangeville. Dear brother of Dorothy (Walter KILBY) of Mount Hope and the late Herb, Alvin, Mildred, Alberta and Helen. Also missed by many nieces and nephews. For 30 years prior to his retirement in 1975, Nelson was the Executive Vice President of the Society of Industrial Cost Accountants of Canada, and for 25 of those years he also served as Secretary Treasurer of The Society of Industrial Cost Accountants of Ontario (now called The Society of Management Accountants). Nelson was also active in a number of community groups such as the Children's Aid Society, the Hamilton District Health Council and the Ontario Research Council. Upon his retirement, he continued his interest in community work. He organized and became the first Manager of DARTS, the first Executive Director of the Saint_Joseph's Hospital Foundation, Treasurer of the Council on Road Trauma, and President of the Alzheimer Society of Hamilton- Wentworth. His memberships included: the Rotary Club of Hamilton, Canadian Club of Hamilton, Probus Club of Burlington and the Burlington Baptist Church. He received many honours including: The Centennial Medal (1967), First-ever Fellow, Society of Management Accountants (1976), The Queen Silver Anniversary Medal (1977), the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award (2000). Cremation has taken place. PLANK, James Wilfred
Heard his name on February 29, 2008. His release from earthly pain was welcome and well prepared as his loved ones were gifted with time to acknowledge and share their love and admiration for this first-class man - a gentleman and a scholar, Jim modeled a life of strong Christian values, solid family ideals, and a deep work ethic. His joy was found in his love of the Lord, his lifelong sweetheart, his family, great literature, and fine works of music. Jim had the ability to inspire those around him to rise to greater heights morally, intellectually and spiritually, challenging us all to follow our own paths. His impact was felt by many after 34 years of teaching - many of these at Herman Collegiate Institute in Windsor. And, he lent comfort to many through his years of Pastoral Care in jails and hospitals, and his Elder work in his churches. His careers included selling subscriptions to Liberty magazine as a young boy, reining in run-away horses on his 2nd job as milkman, teaching and volunteering with the Alzheimer Society. Born on October 29, 1930 in London, Ontario, Jim spent most of his school years there before moving with his parents to a farm in Merlin, Ontario. Jim enjoyed a blessed and rich childhood. He will be dearly missed by his sisters Audrey LUMLEY (John,) and Marion WINDELL. He is predeceased by his parents Laura and Fred PLANK, his sister Helen ZANIER and his brother Fredrick PLANK. Jim takes temporary leave from his wife of 53 years, Mildred PLANK and his four children - Cynthia MORRIS, Grant PLANK (Linda PLANK), Amy ROBINSON (Claude ROBINSON) and Jennifer PLANK (Michael WATTS.) It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frank John CABAK in his 87th year. He died peacefully, with his family by his side at Parkwood Hospital, Complex Care on Friday, March 28, 2008. Frank has gone to join his beloved wife of sixty years, Blanche VAN PRAET (2004.) Leaving to mourn are his cherished son, Donald and his wife Nancy RAYE. Loving brother of Ed and Jeanette SALTARSKI and Joseph SALTARSKI (Gladys) all of London, Ontario. Predeceased by his sister, Stella KOWALESKI and brothers Albert (Helen) and John (Helen) CABAK. Frank will be sadly missed by his brother-in-law Camiel VAN PRAET and his wife Mariea of Sarasota, Florida, and his sister-in-law Frankaileen SCULLY of Wallaceburg, Ontario. Step grandfather of Lisa DUBE (Matthew) and Curtis MORRIS, and step great-grandfather of five. Frank leaves many happy and fond memories with his many nieces and nephews. And so, Dad's chapter in the book of life has come to an end. His was a life well lived, full of hard work, hard play and many many sports. Born in Toronto on September 8, 1920 to Edna MITCHELL and Arnold William MacPHERSON, Bruce died peacefully on January 10, 2008 in the Almonte General Hospital. He is survived by his wife Pauline, his children Michael (Jean,) Sandra (John MERTENS,) Elizabeth (Lars DANIELSSON,) Arnold (Karin,) grandchildren Andrew (Beth,) Matthew (Fiona), Dan, Eric, Henry, Robert, Louisa, and great-grandchild Emily. He is survived also by his four sisters, Joan CRAWFORD, Jean HILL, Mary FLEMING/FLEMMING and Ada MORRIS, and their families. He will be missed by Aunt Pauline's kin, Annalee, Ed and Emma LADOUCEUR, Lisa, Bill, Kelly and Katie RICHARDSON, and Pat and Ken BELBECK and family. Bruce grew up in Saint Thomas Ontario where he met and later married Mary Pauline RICHARDSON. Like his father, Bruce took his medical degree at the University of Toronto, graduating in 1950. He practiced for many years as a family physician in Weston, Ontario and at the Humber Memorial Hospital, and also served as physician for Orenda Engines and at the United Cooperatives of Ontario. He retired in 2000 at age eighty. Bruce served overseas flying Spitfires with Royal Canadian Air Force 412 Squadron first in Britain and later in Europe after D-Day. He flew with Royal Air Force 93 Squadron in North Africa. In 1942 he survived a voyage to Murmansk (PQ 16) as a Hurricat pilot with Merchant Ship Fighter Unit on the Camship Empire Lawrence, and was mentioned in dispatches when she was sunk as a result of enemy action. Bruce was a Prisoner of War for the last few months of the war. He truly appreciated the lifelong Friends he made from his adventures. Bruce demonstrated exceptional grace during his final years, living with Parkinson's. He was a gentleman, genuinely interested in people, forever active and curious about the world, humble about himself, and in Pauline's words, "always so much fun". We shall all miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at her home in Waterloo, Ontario on Monday, January 14, 2008. Daughter of the late John Henry MARTIN and Elsie Florence (SMALL) of Portsmouth, England. Sister to Kenneth MARTIN (deceased) and Marjorie JOWETT of Havant, England. Nesta taught at the Sunshine Home for the Blind, Harrow, England and nursed at the Evalina Hospital for Children, London. She married Peter, a geologist, in 1955 and came to Canada in 1955 where she taught briefly in Montreal and Niagara Falls. As the wife of a geologist she travelled to remote parts of the world where her kindness and good humour won her many Friends. Dear wife of Peter MORRIS. Devoted mother of Martin Vaughan MORRIS of Guelph and Charlotte Louise RYAN and her husband Jerome Xavier RYAN of Toronto. Loved by her only grandchild, Peter Xavier RYAN. She will be missed by her sister Marjorie, her sister-in-law Mary MARTIN of Vancouver, British Columbia, and by many cousins, nephews and nieces, and grand-nephews and grand-nieces. During Nesta's long and painful struggle with cancer, she was sustained by the devoted care of Doctor Donna WARD and Lisa HOLISEK, Community Palliative Nurse, and by Joan, Paula and Sarah of the Palliative Care team. Also by many Friends and neighbours and by the Parkminster United Church congregation. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Nesta's life will be held at Parkminster United Church, Waterloo, Ontario on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 2: 00 p.m. the Reverend John GERTRIDGE officiating. MORRIS, Elwyn John (1921-2008)
Born in Neath, South Wales to William and Mabel Gwendolyn MORRIS. In 1938 he joined Barclays Bank Ltd. in London. In 1940 Elwyn enlisted in the British Army and received his commission in April 1942 into the South Wales Borderers. Following service in India and Burma he was demobilized in 1946 and rejoined Barclays Bank. Elwyn was selected to join Barclays Bank (Canada) and in August 1947 he arrived in Montreal. Due to subsequent amalgamations his career included service with the former Imperial Bank of Canada and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce from where he retired in 1985 as Assistant General Manager at the head Office in Toronto. Elwyn was very proud of his Welsh heritage and treasured the years spent as a member of Dewi Sant Welsh United Church. He will forever lovingly be remembered by his family and Friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Ivy (née MITCHELL) and his sister Margaret. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Nina and daughter Anne of Burnaby, British Columbia. The family will receive Friends at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. E. LLOYD, Doctor Clifford Cooper
Founding President Of George Brown College (Toronto)
Died peacefully in his sleep, January 24th, 2008, at the age of 83. Clifford's journey through life took him from his birthplace on the Gower Coast in Wales, through the battlefields of World War 2 as an officer in the British Army, and then post-war service in Egypt and India before moving to Canada with his wife Joan in 1947. He will be dearly missed by his beloved Joan Margaret, the wind in his sails. Clifford worked as a plumber in Toronto before taking a teaching position in 1952, at the Provincial Institute of Trades where he became Principal ten years later. He was the founding President of George Brown College from 1967 to 1978. Despite his passion for developing a strong viable technical college, Clifford was always very involved in his community serving as President of the West Toronto Kiwanis Club, Chairman of the Miles for Millions walk (77-78) and as Rector's Warden, choir member and lay preacher at St. Theordore's Anglican Church in North York. Doctor LLOYD earned his M.Ed. and PhD at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (U of T). Even a major stroke in 1990 did not deter him; he completed his Masters of Theological Studies at Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Brock University in 2001 at the age of 76. As their father and grandfather provided love, inspiration and support all of their lives, he will be sorely missed by his children, Sian MORRIS (Peter,) Jim LLOYD (Debra,) Chris Lloyd GOTTINGER (Cliff), John LLOYD (Donna), Diane AGNELLI (Larry) and his grandchildren Stephen HARRINGTON (Hilary,) Bryan HARRINGTON (Kathryn), Michael LLOYD (Kavita), Peter LLOYD, Jamie Lloyd GOTTINGER (Jessica), Jessie BUCHANAN (Nathan), Chris LLOYD (Aleita,) Matthew LLOYD, and Tom, Mark and Tony AGNELLI. Clifford had four great-grandchildren: Rhys, Cooper, Declan and Audrey.

Peacefully on March 19, 2008 at Connaught Home in North Hatley, Québec, in his 90th year, son of the late Ruth (née ROSS) and W.A. MORRIS and brother of the late Helen (Peter) KILBURN of Montreal and Knowlton, Québec. Survived by his wife June Richards MORRIS and by her daughter Gale (Howard) RICHARDS of Melbourne Beach, Florida. Also by cousins Althea CARR- HARRIS of Oakville and Greta STETHEM of Montreal and their families, by nephew Peter M. KILBURN (Michèle) of Barnston West, Québec, by niece Susan R. Cremation has taken place and a gathering of family and Friends will take place in July at his beloved Marshall's Bay (Arnprior, Ontario). It is with great sadness that the family announces the death on April 23, 2008 of Barbara MOORE at the Élisabeth Bruyère Health Centre in Ottawa. Barbara was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on February 13, 1930, the daughter of the late John Patrick MOONEY and the late Evelyn Margaret MOONEY (LAWLOR.) Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband of fifty years Raymond Edward MOORE and infant daughter Mary Diane. Surviving are her children Mary E. MOORE (Jean-Claude TANGUAY) of Toronto, Maureen G. MOORE, John L. MOORE, Raymond A. MOORE (Nicole D.) and David P. MOORE, all of Ottawa. Barbara is survived by her grandchildren Philippe C. MOORE, Michel L. MOORE, Rachel G.R. MOORE and Eric D.R. MOORE. Barbara is predeceased by brothers John P. MOONEY (Rosemond I. MOONEY) and Patrick J. MOONEY and by her sister Geraldine M. MOONEY of Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick. Barbara is also survived by her loving sisters M. Kathleen MacDOUGALL (the late Joseph A.,) Constance T. MARR (the late Ralph B.,) Gertrude M. MOONEY all of Saint John, New Brunswick, and Evelyn L. MORRIS (Denis J.), Halifax Nova Scotia. Barbara is also survived by loving sister-in-law Helen M. ROSS (Cyril B.) of Woodstock, New Brunswick. Barbara will be missed by her many relatives, Friends and colleagues. Barbara grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick and graduated from St. Vincent's High School. Barbara received her Bachelor of Science degree at St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia in 1951 and worked for the New Brunswick Department of Health until 1955 when she moved to Ottawa. A long time member of the Dieticians of Canada Barbara taught home economics for many years until her retirement from D'Arcy McGee High School in Gatineau, Québec. MORRIS, The Reverend Doctor J.J. Harrold
Died suddenly on Saturday, June 14, 2008. Born in 1929 in Scotland and raised in Alberta, he was ordained a minister of The Presbyterian Church in Canada in 1957. He was called to congregations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario where he cared for God's people with courageous pastoral heart. His ministry included work on numerous church committees and in 1989 he served as Moderator of the 115th General Assembly of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. He was named Minister Emeritus, Glenview Presbyterian Church, Toronto. A committed church leader, he worked faithfully for denominational strength, ecumenical breadth and community integration. His contribution extended to service organizations. He loved to read, he loved to sing, he loved his family. Harrold was loved by his wife Jeanette MacDONALD; daughters Mary JESSE (Howard) and their children John and Christeen, The Reverend Jean MORRIS (Matthew VYSE,) Jo MORRIS (Graham PELAT) and their son Ian; step-daughters Tracey METHVEN (David NEALE) and their son Timothy, Nicole METHVEN (Paul SMITH) and their children Cameron and Hannah. He is predeceased by his wife Morag MacRAE, and his sisters Jessie MacKAY, Agnes REINHART and Jean WHITT.
