DE MUY, Denise Alice
On Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at her home in London, Ontario, Denise Alice DE MUY passed away after a battle with cancer. Dear sister and friend of Di, Dave and Donna, including Dianne's husband Erich ZEUCH and David's wife Wendy GRANT. Loved and respected aunt of Dianne's children Jill, Kris and Brad, including Jillian's husband Tim HANKEWICH, Kristyne's husband Jan CZEPUTYK and their daughters Anna Mae and Holly, and Bradley's wife Carole; as well as Donna's daughters Nat and Jen, including Natalie's husband Rob MERRICK and Jennifer's husband Kerry NORTH and their daughters Mackenzie and Shay. She will be missed by numerous cousins of the DE MUY and Ferguson families. Predeceased by her parents Doris (FERGUSON) and Chuck DE MUY. She will be fondly remembered by childhood Friends, colleagues from Bell, Friends from the holistic field and Kids on the Block and a multitude of others. Denise worked at Bell for 31 years and influenced many people during that time. At Denise's request there will be no funeral and cremation has taken place. Her final resting place will be in the family plot at Holy Angel's Cemetery in Saint Thomas. When I think of Denise, I think of her eyes and they look out for all of us. I think of her ears and she hears what we have to say. I think of her hands and she reaches out for us. I think of her arms and she hugs us. I think of her heart and she loves us. William▼ " Bill▼" Sykes STEPHENS died on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 after a brief illness at Markdale Hospital. Bill was born in Osprey Township on December 15, 1920. He was the youngest son of Mary and Dougald STEPHENS. In 1943 he married Hazel WILKINSON and they lived in Feversham and Dundalk before moving to the 8th line of Artemesia.
Bill is survived by his wife Hazel, his daughters Helen and her husband Wayne MERRIFIELD and Jean and her husband Lorne McCAULEY. He was a dear grandfather to Scott (Cynthia) MERRIFIELD, Stephen (Vicki) MERRIFIELD, Dale (Kelly MERRIFIELD, Amy (Bob) HOARE and Tom (Sarah) McCAULEY. He will be loved and remembered by his 14 great-grandchildren Sarah, Mitchell, Nathan, Madeline, Mackenzie, Marissa, Brady, Curtis, Jacob and Kirstin MERRIFIELD; Connor and Peyton McCAULEY; Lauren and William HOARE.
Brother-in-law of Dolly STEPHENS and Alice STEPHENS, Florence and Garnet HAMILTON and Dorothy and Ted McCULLOCH. Bill will be missed by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Tom, Lloyd and John.
Bill took an active part in community and church life. He was an electrician with his brother John in Dundalk for several years before moving to the farm where he dairy-farmed with Hazel for 27 years.
Bill was a member of Gentle Shepherd Community Church where a largely attended funeral service took place on Saturday, June 28, 2008. The funeral service was conducted by the Reverend Don PRINCE with tributes by Dale MERRIFIELD, Amy McCAULEY- HOARE, Sarah MERRIFIELD and Reverend Adam NICKEL.
Interment was at Flesherton Cemetery.

My Final Broadcast Peacefully and prayerfully, in my 69th year, after a courageous battle at Alexandra Hospital surrounded by my family on June 2, 2008 our Lord welcomed me home. I leave behind my devoted and adoring wife of 47 years Diane (TREMBLAY,) and my 5 loving children and their spouses. Jerry Jr. and his wife Roxanne (ANTAYA,) Terry and his wife Terryanne (CARROLL,) Mark and his wife Sherri (SMITH,) Michelle and her husband Jim (MERRIFIELD,) Nicole and her husband Dany (JACQUES.) I will continue to watch over my beautiful grandchildren that gave me more joy than I ever thought possible - Jessica and John DANIEL, Kyle and Brittany DANIEL and Brandi and Daniel LEWIS, Tara and Mitchell DANIEL, Mark and Matthew MERRIFIELD and "Peanut" Jacques as well as my sister Pat PROUSE of Ingersoll. I have been reunited with those who went before including my mom Delia (GATES) 1989 and dad Naboth 1996. My life has been full and blessed. I was fortunate to love my chosen career in broadcasting which spanned over 40 years. Starting at CFCO in Chatham, CHOK in Sarnia, SJCS Stratford, CFPL London, and finally CKOT Tillsonburg where I forged many lifelong Friendships. I also derived joy from my many years of DJ work. It is hard to imagine the number of first dance songs I played for newlyweds over the years and the people who knew me by my unique speakers. I express special thanks to our family physician Doctor Kelly SHAUGHNESSEY who was a tremendous support throughout and the loving care given by the Alexandra Hospital staff. In regards to my illness I am indebted to Woodstock Urologist Doctor VOGALIN and excellent medical staff at the London Regional Cancer Centre including Doctor Mary McKENZIE and her assistants Grace and Paul. I appreciated the constant support of John LAMERS, Owner and General Manager of CKOT Easy 101.3, Elaine BELANGER, Kathy BEEMER, Peter BAUMAN/BOWMAN, Lorette CRUNDWELL, George MANTLER, Doug OLTSHER, Pat PROUSE, Dean and Cheryl SHEVALIER, Louie TREMBLAY and Luanne WATT. Community Care Access Centre and their dedicated caring staff allowed me to spend my final days at home with my family where I wanted to be. God Bless You. To measure a Man… Is to sum up his accomplishments in but a few simple phrases. Those whose impact was greatest on family and Friends tend to need fewer songs of praise. Dad always knew there was another chance to change an outcome. Growing up the eldest of 5, with precious few amenities, he learned to effect situations through force of will. Above all else he understood the value of family and revelled in all our accomplishments great and small. He loved talking about his family, a clean car, a good hockey fight, the market and the colour yellow. Always well dressed, he respected others who took care of their first impression shined shoes and well tied ties were a quick gauge to your worth. Setting the tone for any situation he added flair when none existed. When we attended hockey games he refereed we always remembered never to tell the fans our Dad was the referee and we'll never forget the police escorts after junior games in Greenfield Park and St. Lambert. He loved his business and as a Trader his execution was legendary, He knew how to make a pro short a position on his bid and be grateful. He never liked to politic, but knew it so well he taught us to taunt the sharks we swim with in whatever waters we may find ourselves. His greatest accomplishment was that his children assumed their successes without doubt. With great sorrow, much love and admiration he will be deeply missed and always remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years Beverley (née RANDLE,) daughter Deborah; sons Michael and wife Joanne (née VIENS) Randy and wife Deborah (née KREGZDE). Grandad, you will always be close in heart and thought to grandchildren Erin, Lauren, Katherine, Tyler and Jordyn. Predeceased my mother and father John and Kitty (née MERRIFIELD) KEEGAN, and will be sadly missed by brothers Gord and Billy and sister Joan. With grace and dignity, after a long and fruitful life, the family of William Henry UHRIG announce his sudden passing on Sunday, March 30, 2008, in his 90th year, at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton, Ontario. Loving and devoted husband of the late Mabel Lange UHRIG. Much loved father of Sandra REINHARDUS and her husband Carel of Southampton, Bob and his wife Carol Ann of Grand Bend, Bill Jr. and his wife Dana of Milton and Judy MERRITT and her husband Colin of Waterloo. Outstanding grandfather to Keri Leggett DAVIES and her husband Brad of Dorchester, Jodi Merritt BARENDREGT and husband Chris of Ingersoll, David and girlfriend Julie of Guilford, Connecticut and Jessica UHRIG of Kitchener. The best great-grandfather ever to Kai and Annie DAVIES. Survived by brother, Norman of St. Catharines, by sisters, Merle, Mrs. Stan HARROD of Brantford and Marguerite, Mrs. Leslie SMITH of Hamilton, as well as brother-in-law Ernie LANGE of Sault Ste. Marie and sister-in-law Marjorie LANGE of Scarborough and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father John Henry, his mother Lulu Mae, brother Jack and sisters Vida, Mrs. Clarence WARE, Lorraine, Mrs. Wilfred REINHART, Beatrice, Mrs. Russell GIBBONS, and Madeleine, Mrs. Ted WILLIAMS. He is now reunited with his loving wife Mabel and his grand_son Andy UHRIG. He will also be sadly missed by his morning coffee clutch. Born and raised in Southampton, (Little Stratford), with the exception of his service during World War 2, Bill spent his entire life in the town of his birth. He spent 47 years in the furniture trade, working at Fitton Parker Furniture, and retiring in 1983. After retirement, Bill continued his artistic talents by building and selling handcrafted pieces of furniture in his own woodworking shop, while mentoring others interested in the trade. In later years, Bill became an avid collector of bygone era memorabilia. Bill was a private man, who loved a good joke, and who was intensely proud of his family, and mesmerized by his great-grandchildren. Bill was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155, in Southampton, for 62 years. MERRITT, Thomas Rodman III
Passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the age of 82. Beloved husband to Mary Eleanor (KAUFMAN) MERRITT. Proud father of Thomas (Debbie), Heidi (Jerry), Christopher (Debbie), Stephanie (Jeff), Allegra (Vince), Hudson (Janet) and Natalie (Tom) and proud grandfather of 15. Tom's life was a journey full of many great adventures. He served his country during World War 2 as a Naval Officer on HMSC Charlottetown. He then became a teacher at Appleby College shaping young minds and helping his students to become the people they are today. He travelled to the Orient for many years hoping to promote a strong partnership between Canada and Asia. He wrote the letters and made the phone calls because he knew the value of this relationship between the two countries. In retirement, he spent many happy hours perfecting his flower and rock gardens and manicuring his lawns. Thomas was a visionary who thought outside the box and always followed his dreams. We miss you and we love you.

Passed away on April 12, 2008 in her 93rd year in the Aurora home she and her beloved late husband Lees OWRAM built and lived in since their marriage in 1940. Her sense of humour and her kindness to all (people and animals) were only a part of the reason she seemed to gain affection from everyone who knew her. She was always so positive, enjoying her life, family, and her many dear Friends tremendously and planning the next project even in the final weeks of her life.
She is survived by her children Doug and Leesa, her daughter-in-law Deborah, her granddaughter Kristine; her dear friend Peter, and by her siblings Joseph and Lola ROBB and her sister-in-law Elsie OWRAM. She would also have appreciated adding her cat Patches and all the birds and furry creatures who visited her home! She will be missed by all.
The family wishes to thank her wonderful neighbours who supported, provided assistance, Friendship, and care so she could remain in her home. Also, thanks to Doctor Nancy MERROW from Southlake Regional Health Centre, The Community Care Access Centre, and the SRT nurses who made it possible for her to die comfortably at home as she so wished.

Peacefully at Victoria Hospital on April 18, 2008, Mrs. Irene B. SPENCELAYH (MILLS) of London in her 97th year (September 17, 1911-April 18, 2008.) Loving wife of the late Thomas Wm. SPENCELAYH (1961.) Loving mother of Thomas SPENCELAYH (Marnie) of Victoria, British Columbia and Irene MERSEREAU of London. Dear grandmother of Keli, Lisa (Dave), Christopher, Paul (Allie), Rebecca, (Chris) Jennifer (Jeff), Renee, Katie (Cesar), Laura, Sarah and great-grandmother of Kaleb, Kalie, Emily, Megan, Gary, Ryan, Tory, Chloe, Spencer, Michael, Sammy and Sakura. She will be sadly missed by her niece Violet Ann CALVERT and great niece Sandy and great nephews John and Harry. Irene is predeceased by her parents John MILLS (1957,) Bessie MILLS (1975,) Brother John William (1972) and nephews James and Allan SARGENT. Irene was born in Saint Thomas on September 17, 1911 and came to London to train as a nurse at the London Psychiatric Hospital where she graduated in 1933 and became an R.N. in 1934. She performed various nursing practices throughout her career as well as being active with the Nurses Alumni. She was also involved in Girl Guides and was a Brown Owl for 10 years. Irene helped start the Well Baby Clinic in the school system and after retiring volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Visitation will be held in the Needham Funeral Chapel (520 Dundas Street, London) on Sunday from 7-9 pm., where a celebration of life will be held on Monday April 21, 2008 at 1.p.m. Interment Saint Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Sunshine Foundation would be appreciated. To help celebrate Irene's memory please wear blue on Sunday and Monday.

Peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 4th, 2008 in Mississauga at the age 87. Predeceased by his wife Margaret of 63 years. Cherished father of Shayne (Mary), Wyeth (Katia), Kensel (Kathie) and Garna (Bob). Loving grandfather of Megan, Erin, Kristin, Daniel, Sasha, Kyla, Tom, Quinn. Proud great-grandfather of Devon and Taya. Dear brother of Kenneth TRACY, and Gertrude MERSEREAU. Predeceased by his parents Gilbert and Elizabeth TRACY and his brother Herman TRACY. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and Friends. Garnet's great sense of humour and love for music will be sadly missed by all.

Loved by her grandchildren McKenzie, Mitchell, Josh, Sam, Lucas, Emma, Jonah, Logan, Andi, and India. Sister of William JACKSON and wife Sharon of Stratford, Mary MERSWOLKE and husband Paul of Owen Sound, Tim JACKSON of Owen Sound, and Jeff JACKSON and wife Kathy of Waterloo. MacPHERSON, Bruce Edward, M.D.
Born in Toronto on September 8, 1920 to Edna MITCHELL and Arnold William MacPHERSON, Bruce died peacefully on January 10, 2008 in the Almonte General Hospital. He is survived by his wife Pauline, his children Michael (Jean,) Sandra (John MERTENS,) Elizabeth (Lars DANIELSSON,) Arnold (Karin,) grandchildren Andrew (Beth,) Matthew (Fiona), Dan, Eric, Henry, Robert, Louisa, and great-grandchild Emily. He is survived also by his four sisters, Joan CRAWFORD, Jean HILL, Mary FLEMING/FLEMMING and Ada MORRIS, and their families. He will be missed by Aunt Pauline's kin, Annalee, Ed and Emma LADOUCEUR, Lisa, Bill, Kelly and Katie RICHARDSON, and Pat and Ken BELBECK and family. Bruce grew up in Saint Thomas Ontario where he met and later married Mary Pauline RICHARDSON. Like his father, Bruce took his medical degree at the University of Toronto, graduating in 1950. He practiced for many years as a family physician in Weston, Ontario and at the Humber Memorial Hospital, and also served as physician for Orenda Engines and at the United Cooperatives of Ontario. He retired in 2000 at age eighty. Bruce served overseas flying Spitfires with Royal Canadian Air Force 412 Squadron first in Britain and later in Europe after D-Day. He flew with Royal Air Force 93 Squadron in North Africa. In 1942 he survived a voyage to Murmansk (PQ 16) as a Hurricat pilot with Merchant Ship Fighter Unit on the Camship Empire Lawrence, and was mentioned in dispatches when she was sunk as a result of enemy action. Bruce was a Prisoner of War for the last few months of the war. He truly appreciated the lifelong Friends he made from his adventures. Bruce demonstrated exceptional grace during his final years, living with Parkinson's. He was a gentleman, genuinely interested in people, forever active and curious about the world, humble about himself, and in Pauline's words, "always so much fun". We shall all miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Bruce to the Parkinson Society Canada, Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Arthritis Society Canada, or the Almonte General Hospital.

Dear mother of Christine and Tony MERUCCI and Michael BRINTNELL all of London. Predeceased by her parents Jack and Viola HUNSBERGER. Sandra was an employee at London Life for 42 years. In loving memory of Patrick David REID, October 17, 1945 to December 27, 2007.
Pat died peacefully at his home in Winnipeg surrounded by his loving family after a very brave battle against cancer. Although Pat had many interests, one of his favourites was the Manitoulin Deer Hunt and spending time with his family and Friends here. Pat was truly a "wannta be haweater". He is survived by his mother, Gertie ROBINSON of Espanola, his wife Edith (MERVYN,) daughters Sara, Sheila and family and son Arthur and family all of Winnipeg. Funeral service was held January 2, 2008 by Cropo Funeral Home with interment in Winnipeg.
