Marcella 'Mary' Sarah EMPTAGE, beloved wife of Elgin EMPTAGE, formerly of Meaford, passed away peacefully at Georgian Heights in Owen Sound where they had been currently residing, on Monday May 5, 2008, at the age of 91. Born in Trafalgar, Mary was the daughter of the late William and Olive (née JOHNSTONE) McCLURE. She was predeceased by her brother James William McCLURE. Mary will be fondly remembered as a dear sister-in-law by Margaret “Peggy” MARSHALL of Owen Sound, and Pearl EMPTAGE of Blind River and as a dear aunt by her several nieces and their families. Funeral services will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, N4L 1B9 (519-538-1320) on Wednesday May 7 at 3: 30 p.m. with interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Of Guelph suddenly on Thursday February 21, 2008 at the LaPointe-Fisher Nursing Home in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late John Alexander WILLIAMSON (1964) and the late Gordon LECOURTOIS (1993.) Loving mother of Jerry and his wife Jean WILLIAMSON, JoAnn DUNN and Mary Jane and her husband Robert JOHNSTONE. Lovingly remembered by 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dear sister of Bruce CAMPBELL and sister-in-law of Zetta CARTER and Dorothy JEWELL. She was predeceased by brother's John and Alex CAMPBELL and by sisters Helen SIPLE and Etoile STERLING. Gertrude was a longtime resident of Saint Thomas and had recently moved to Guelph. At Middlesex Terrace Nursing Home, Delaware, on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, Gwendolyn Mae (BECKER) WYLLIE of Glencoe and formerly of Woodstock, after a long and courageous battle with cancer in her 63rd year. Gwen will be sadly missed by her son Wray and Wife Michelle of Sundridge and her daughter and best friend Patty MORIN and her husband John of Glencoe. Gwen was treasured by her grandchildren, Joe and Kaylee WYLLIE, Ariel LAUREL and Aaron LANAWAY. Survived by her sisters, Doreen JOHNSTONE, Rhea BECKER, Elaine BECKER, Evelyn COON and brother Graham BECKER. Gwen will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. At her request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 5th at 12 noon at the Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe. Mr. ANDERSON of Port Daniel West, Québec was born in Selkirk, Manitoba, December 2, 1916. He died February 10, 2008 at the Hôpital de Chandler, Québec. Educated in Selkirk schools and Wesley College, University of Manitoba. Survived by his wife of 67 and 1/2 years Lucy Ethel JOHNSTONE and his children Kilby Anderson MacPHERSON and Bryn ANDERSON, of Toronto and Norton ANDERSON Jr., of British Columbia Also his grandchildren Bryn MacPHERSON- WHITE/WHYTE (Andrew), W. James MacPHERSON (Catherine), in the Middle East, and Kristin-Ann MacPHERSON; and his great-grandchildren, Signy, Arabella and Keiller WHITE/WHYTE, of Toronto and his sister-in-law Alice VERMETTE, Ottawa and his nephew Nelson VERMETTE (Sylvie,) Vancouver. Mr. ANDERSON served overseas in World War 2 with the Camerons of Winnipeg, returning to Canada, and in 1944 was appointed Chief Public Relations Officer, the Canadian Army, at Army Headquarters, Ottawa. He was seconded by the Wartime Information Board to be in charge of the Press Corps that accompanied Prime Minister Mackenzie King to San Francisco for the Founding Meeting of the United Nations. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Cremation with no funeral at the request of Mr. ANDERSON. Passed away peacefully at his home in Toronto on May 14, 2008 at the age of 67. Husband of Lynn, former husband of Pam, father of James, C.J., and Kirsten, grandfather to Ainsley, brother to Billy, Jean, May, Senga and Wilma, and uncle to several nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Leith, Scotland to James and Jean (Anne Jane née JOHNSTONE) TAIT/TAITE/TATE. Jim devoted his life to public service, and helped found the Ontario Public Service Employees Union. Although recently retired, Jim still worked under contract at the Ontario Public Service Employees Union head office in Toronto where his skills and experience were highly valued. Friends may call at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd (North of Lawrence) 416-241-4618 on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday June 1 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A private ceremony will be held to place Jim's remains beside his mother at Sanctuary Park Cemetery. A memorial service organized by Ontario Public Service Employees Union is planned for September 19th, 2008.
