HOWELL--In loving memory of a dear son and brother, Austin, who passed
away December 12, 1999.
Beyond our smiles
There lies a tear
For the one we lost
And loved so dear.
Our hearts still ache
For what it meant to lose him.
No one will ever know
There will always be a heartache
And many a silent tear
But always the precious memories
Of the days when you were here.
We hold you close within our hearts
And there you will remain
To walk with us throughout our lives
Until we meet again.
Sadly missed and always remembered by Dad and Sheelah.

HOWELL,
William
Daniel (1915-2008)
Peacefully, with his family by his side, on March 23, 2008, in
his 93rd year. Husband to Marian (predeceased), loving father
to Philip and Brian (predeceased), and doting grandfather to
Gregory, James and Thomas, who will miss him very much. Survived
by his brother Desmond and predeceased by brothers Walter and
David. Bill will be fondly remembered by his daughters-in-law
Margaret, Marya and Karen. Born in Wales in 1915, Bill was the
son of a policeman in a small coal mining village. He studied
geology and mathematics at university. His plans for graduate
school were interrupted by World War 2, when he was recruited
to the British government as part of the team that worked on
the development of Radar. Bill was recognized for this work through
the 1947 Kelvin Premium Award of the Institute of Electrical
Engineers. Married in 1942, Bill and Marian emigrated to Canada
in 1947 when Bill accepted a job with Atomic Energy of Canada
Ltd to work at Chalk River. He was involved initially in the
design of radiation survey instruments in the health physics
field. He later served as a member of the Electronic Component
Research and Development committee of the Defense Research Board,
responsible for promoting the expansion of research and development
capacity in the Canadian electronics industry. In the early sixties,
he pioneered the introduction of integrated circuits at Chalk
River Nuclear Laboratories, and by the time he retired in 1976,
he was the holder of four patents. His retirement years were
spent in Toronto where he did the things he loved to do -- hiking
all over the city, dancing, international travel, bridge, volunteering
with seniors and children's programs at Harbourfront, and spending
much time with his grand_sons. Bill's family are deeply grateful
to Martha, Margaret, Elsa, and the many other staff at Kensington
Gardens for their thoughtful and loving care of Bill during his
residence there, and especially in the last weeks of his life,
when they were also a great support to the family. A private
cremation and family memorial service will be held to remember
Bill. If you wish to make a gesture in his memory, the family
suggests donations to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children, or
to the charity of your choice.

CARROLL,
Earlene (née
LEE) (1936-2008)
Faith, Love, Principle, Intelligence, Humour
This is how we know and remember Earlene Lee
CARROLL, who died
suddenly but peacefully at her home this past week.
She believed greatness and kindness are gifts we need to give
each day; that unconditional love means unconditional; that doing
the right thing is more important than doing the best thing
that we never stop learning and should never stop trying; and
that good outlasts all, especially in a game of bridge.
Cowgirl turned city girl, Earlene trained as a nurse in Alberta,
lived in Ohio and New York, and in 1965 chose Bramalea-Brampton
to settle and raise a family in. She returned to university to
study economics and "Lee" became synonymous with the Brampton-Bramalea
Real Estate Board. She valued her career a fraction of the value
she placed on Friendships she made along her journey.
Earlene sparked radiance everywhere. Her love endures, especially
in her sister Pat
HOWEY
(Calgary,) her children Jim (Texas,)
Lee-Ellen (Ottawa) and Richard (Georgetown), and the lights of
her life - her grandchildren: Sean, Sabrina, Peter, Gabriel,
Quinton, Regan, Muiredach and Jordan.
We thank her for finding us, gracing us, and loving us, 1936-2008.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 10 a.m. at
Scott Funeral Home, 289 Main Street North, Bramption, followed
by a memorial service at 11 a.m. All are welcome. Her remains
will be interred in Edmonton next to her pre-deceased sisters
Donna LEE and Betty
WALLACE, and her parents Earle and Agnes
LEE.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Children's Wish Foundation
would be greatly appreciated.
