Born in London, Ontario on June 29, 1931. Departed on March 03, 2008 resident of London, Ontario. Turner John K. died peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2008 with his wife of 55 years Annie and his family at his side after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his mother Irene Ivy Rose CANE. John is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Annie (née WOLFE,) his son John TURNER (Joan) of Dryden, Ontario, daughter Julia TURNER (Brian GIBB) of Lemington, Ontario; daughter Sandra LUEDI of Zurich, Switzerland; daughter Cheryl WALTHER (Mark CHATTERSON) of Woodstock, Ontario; son Robert TURNER (Roseanna) of London and daughter Marianne TURNER (Cathy WEGLO) of London, Ontario. He is also survived by his many grandchildren who were very dear to him Glenda, Cynthia, Sean, Tiana, Krista, Alicia, Jeremy, Jessie, Gayla, Erich, Holly, Adam, Lauren and Daniel. John was a true family man who cared deeply for his family. His love of his wife, children and grandchildren showed itself in everything that he did in his life. He will never to be forgotten by those who knew and loved him. John worked as a Stationary Engineer, retiring from the Mount Saint_Joseph Motherhouse of London. He will be missed by his many Friends in London with whom he enjoyed good conversation over a cup of coffee. He was particularly interested in anthropology, economics and history. He enjoyed golf and took pride in growing roses. He was a talented artist, providing his children with many hours of enjoyment recreating comic strip characters. Through his sharing of stories of life growing up in the nineteen thirties and forties, he instilled in his children a sense of hard work, responsibility, fairness and a love of family. He was a truly wonderful man who disliked being the center of attention, and needed no acclaim for his accomplishments aside from simply knowing that his family benefited. His family would like to thank family and Friends for the tremendous outpouring of love and support that they and John received while he was in hospital. Also, to the doctors, nurses, and many specialists of the London Health Science Centre, your compassion and encouragement were outstanding. In accordance to his wishes John has been cremated. No funeral or memorial will be observed. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Carolyn MACK (née HELWIG) of Wiarton (formerly of Southampton) died peacefully at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton, on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at the age of 61 years. She will be sorrowfully missed by her husband Robert E. (Bob) MACK. Carolyn is survived by her sister Margaret (Peg) MacLEOD of Kandos, New South Wales, Australia, Winston (Bud) HELWIG and his wife Karen of Elmira, John and his wife Kathryn of Southampton, and Guy HELWIG and his partner Tracey BOOKHAM- SMITH of Southampton. She is also survived by her nieces Lisa MacLEOD and Kristen FITZGERALD in Australia; Cindy, Sherri, Kara and Kristy HELWIG in Ontario and nephew Ian MacLEOD in Botswana. Fondly remembered by Bob's children, Roberta SHORTREED of Elmira and her husband Jason, and Thom MACK of Wiarton and his partner Brenda GIBBINS and all the grandchildren. She will also be missed by her eight great-nieces and nephews. Carolyn was highly regarded for her professionalism and leadership throughout her career as a registered nurse and social worker and was most admired for her personal devotion and care for her patients. She is remembered for the wisdom, humour and generous love she brought to every interaction. Friends may visit at the W. Isabel, who passed away June 21, 2008, was born on April 2, 1934 to Percy and Velma WINTERS of the Gravel Road in Osprey Township. She attended Tryon College in her early years and graduated from Flesherton High School at age 16. On June 18, 1955 she married Murray THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, son of Ernie and Minnie THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON of Duncan, and in 1967 they moved to the THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON Family Farm with their four children, where they resided for many years.
Murray predeceased her in 1987. In 1999 she left the farm and eventually settled in Collingwood where she was proud to be a volunteer at the Collingwood Hospital for the past five years.
Her many interests included Friends, family, church socials, sports, music, mini-trips, card games, and especially her grandchildren Ryan GIBBONS and Kristen LEGGE.
In addition to her grandchildren, Isabel is survived by her children Shelley (Ron) GIBBONS of Ravenna, Ron of Red Deer Alberta, Barb (Dave) BLAIR of Brampton, and Debbie (Kacey) LEGGE of Feversham. She is also survived by her sister Evelyn (late Ross) PORTEOUS of North Bay, her brothers Ken (Marion) WINTERS and Jack (Margaret) WINTERS of Singhampton and was predeceased by her sister Lilllan (late Francis) EDWARDS. In addition she is survived by her in-laws Lois (late Goldie) PATTERSON of Owen Sound, Bessie (Marshall) SAUNDERS of Meaford, Joan (late Gary) THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON of Markdale and Ken (Anne) THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON of Guelph, along with her many nieces, nephews and their extended families.

With grace and dignity, after a long and fruitful life, the family of William Henry UHRIG announce his sudden passing on Sunday, March 30, 2008, in his 90th year, at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton, Ontario. Loving and devoted husband of the late Mabel Lange UHRIG. Much loved father of Sandra REINHARDUS and her husband Carel of Southampton, Bob and his wife Carol Ann of Grand Bend, Bill Jr. and his wife Dana of Milton and Judy MERRITT and her husband Colin of Waterloo. Outstanding grandfather to Keri Leggett DAVIES and her husband Brad of Dorchester, Jodi Merritt BARENDREGT and husband Chris of Ingersoll, David and girlfriend Julie of Guilford, Connecticut and Jessica UHRIG of Kitchener. The best great-grandfather ever to Kai and Annie DAVIES. Survived by brother, Norman of St. Catharines, by sisters, Merle, Mrs. Stan HARROD of Brantford and Marguerite, Mrs. Leslie SMITH of Hamilton, as well as brother-in-law Ernie LANGE of Sault Ste. Born and raised in Southampton, (Little Stratford), with the exception of his service during World War 2, Bill spent his entire life in the town of his birth. He spent 47 years in the furniture trade, working at Fitton Parker Furniture, and retiring in 1983. After retirement, Bill continued his artistic talents by building and selling handcrafted pieces of furniture in his own woodworking shop, while mentoring others interested in the trade. In later years, Bill became an avid collector of bygone era memorabilia. Bill was a private man, who loved a good joke, and who was intensely proud of his family, and mesmerized by his great-grandchildren. Bill was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155, in Southampton, for 62 years. Passed peacefully at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton, Friday, June 27, 2008 with his wife and his children at his bedside, in his 81st year. Orland VENNARD of Port Elgin, loving husband of 56 years to Jean VENNARD (CAMPBELL,) cherished father and mentor to Rob of Port Elgin, Jamie (Tracy) and Mari all of Kitchener and Lanny (Jack) BINGHAM of Port Elgin. He will be deeply missed for his sense of humour by his 8 grandchildren; Rachel and Daniel VENNARD, Nyssa FINDLAY and Carter VENNARD, Brooke, Bailey, Brie and Ken BINGHAM. Beloved little brother of Margaret GIBBONS of Owen Sound. Predeceased by his sisters Dorothy McKILLOP and Grace WILLIAMSON. Died suddenly in hospital of cancer, February 4, 2008, in Portland, Oregon, U.S.A. Jay was born in Toronto, son of the late Doctor F.R. WILKINSON and the late poet and writer Anne (GIBBONS) WILKINSON. He leaves behind his brother Alan G. of Inglesham House, Swinden, Wiltshire, United Kingdom his sister Heather KONTAXOPOULOS and family George, Robert, Katherine of Vancouver.
In 1976 while living in Vancouver he met his beloved and caring Vivian HOLSTROM later to be married in Portland, Oregon to the great happiness of his immediate family, cousins and close Friends. Jay continued to persue his avid interest in photography and music (cello) while living a quiet life in Portland shared always with his endearing family pets. He continued to maintain his connections with Nora (EGUIDI) WILKINSON of Ottawa, mother of his niece Anna MacCHI (Francesco and 4 children) of Galliate, Milano, Italy.
Jay was always willing to share his happy memories of family, cousins and cottage-Lake Simcoe life and wished to return home for burial. To that end a private family interment will take place sometime in mid-summer at Christ Church, Roches Point, Lake Simcoe with reception to follow. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Humane Society would be appreciated.

BLASER, Lorenz Paul

23 days into his 93rd year
Our dear Lorrie died quietly at his home on Thursday March 6. son of Pioneers and a pioneer himself, Lorenz Paul (Lorrie) BLASER was born at his parents' homestead in Saskatchewan where they farmed after immigrating to Canada in the 1890's. Growing up, his family realized that, while he wouldn't make a good farmer, Lorenz loved mathematics, so they found the money to send him to high school and university in Saskatoon where he became a Chemical Engineer
first of his family ever to attend university. He began working with British American Oil Company, digging ditches in the Calgary refinery, rising through the engineering ranks to management. B.A. Oil became Gulf Oil Canada and he ended his career as President of the Gulf Canada Products Company.
Lorrie felt himself very lucky to have won the love of two wonderful women: Marjorie ORR of Calgary his wife for 52 years until her passing in 1993, and his second wife Dorothy LIVEY who enriched his last 8 years with love and devoted care.
His children, Lynn (John VAN OGTROP), Paula (John WETTLAUFER) and David, with the grandchildren Brian and Stephen WETTLAUFER, Jordan, Kyle and Logan BLASER will miss their dear Papa immensely but are grateful for his generous and constant love, and the fine example he set for them.
Also mourning his loss are Dorothy's children: John and Cheryl LIVEY, Gordon and Jovita LIVEY, Janet DALE and grandchildren Alison (Gareth GIBBONS,) Andrew and Christopher. Lorrie was the last of his family, leaving in-laws in Calgary, Kelowna and Saskatchewan and many nieces and nephews across Canada.
Thanks to the wonderful people who helped us care for Dad and keep him in his own home: Trevor, Rosie, George, Margaret, Peggie, Stacey, Beverley and so many more.
Visiting on Friday, March 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Northlea United Church, 125 Brentcliffe Road. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2: 30 p.m. at Northlea with visiting one hour prior to service.

BURR, Allena Jean
89, left this earthly life in the early hours of Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital, Petrolia, Ontario. Born on the family farm in the hamlet of Waubuno, Ontario on May 11, 1919, she was the daughter of John Francis BURR and Cathern Ann LESTER. She later resided in Sarnia and Point Edward and, since 1994, in Brigden at Brigden Park Place. In September 1942, she enlisted with the Canadian Women's Army Corps Basic Training Centre in Kitchener, Ontario. She served with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps Unit in London, Ontario until the end of the war. She later worked in the Dietary Department of the Sarnia General Hospital from 1948 until her retirement in 1981. She worked at the hospital with her sister, Kathleen (Kay) BURR, who was employed in the Housekeeping Department. Apart from Allena's time serving with the Canadian Women's Army Corps, she and Kay shared a home throughout their lives and enjoyed working, shopping and travelling together. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert Andrew (Andy) BURR, Thomas (Tom) William BURR, and sisters, Annie Jane BURR, Helen Jennetta (Fred) FOURNIE and Kathleen BURR. Beloved aunt of Cathy (FOURNIE) and Jay LETHBRIDGE of Anten Mills, Ontario and their children Mike and Jessica; and Laurie (FOURNIE) and Ian MASON of Brigden, who regarded Allena affectionately as another mother. Special aunt of Caroline (Bob) BOURGET and their son, Greg, of Sarnia; and Carole (late Joe) DEDECKER of Port Lambton. Peacefully passed away on Saturday January 26, 2008 at the Tyndall Nursing Home in his 83rd year. Survived by Barbara, loving wife of 60 years; daughters Susan SANSOM and Patricia (Gordon) WILSON grandchildren April (Paolo) VIOLA, Timothy (Renee) WILSON and Kelly (Alex) GIBBS; great-grandchildren Emily, Hannah, Piper, Quinn, Vaughn. Dear brother of Helen and Bill and brother-in-law of June COSBURN. Predeceased by sister Jean. James served proudly in World War 2 as a member of the Canadian Navy. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by many family and Friends.
