was an accomplished athlete excelling particularly in track.
He was the All-Ontario junior champion in the 100 yard dash in
1938, and is a member of the Woodstock Sports Hall of Fame. He
was a veteran of World War 2, serving in the Royal Canadian Air
Force in England. Mervyn retired from the Royal Bank of Canada
after over 40 years of service. He was an active member of South
Gate Centre and a long-time member of College Avenue Church.

Murray served overseas with the R.C.R. He worked at Canada Vetrified
and was a sewer and water contractor. He is a 50 year member
of Branch 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Sgt. Mess and
The Old Elgin Band and First Yarmouth (Plains) Baptist Church.
Murray was born at Enniskillen, Lambton County on December 29,
1917, the son of the late Charles Henry and Lillian

He was predeceased by a brother Melvin. Also survived by several

until 1965, then worked with Woodstock Apple Factory until 1983.
His love of horses earned him a position with Millard Farms where
he remained as a valued employee until 2001. Wes enjoyed his
association with the Men's Club of College Ave. Church, Woodstock.

A talented woman who loved and excelled in sports, the Boulevard
Club was her home away from home since 1932 (known then as the
Parkdale Canoe Club) when she married and moved to Toronto. Fern
enjoyed both work and play, and from her early days as a teacher
in a one-room schoolhouse, through a variety of careers, Fern
returned to work as a curling pro when her husband died in 1965 and
continued working until she was 85. Living independently in her
Parkdale apartment, bridge, curling, oil painting, bowling, travel
and her family occupied her years in retirement until at the
age of 97 she moved to Chester Village following a stroke. She
will rest at the home of her daughter at 74 Riverdale Avenue,
Toronto on Wednesday 20 February 2008 and Friends are invited
to call between 2: 00 and 8:00 p.m. Her funeral will take place
at the Wycliffe College Chapel, 5 Hoskin Avenue, Toronto at 11: 00 a.m.
on Thursday 21 February 2008. She will be interred with Grant
at the Erie Cemetery, Wheatley, Ontario. Fern loved flowers,
but would also appreciate contributions to The Heart and Stroke
Foundation in her memory.

with diversified experience in both the public and private sectors
for over 30 years. His B.A. from McGill, law degree from Dalhousie
and a PhD in computer law from the University of Texas were just
stepping stones in his life long thirst for knowledge. Internment
will take place this thanksgiving weekend in Georgeville, Quebec,
where he will rest in peace at the place closest to his heart.
A memorial service will be held at Eglinton St. George's United
Church (35 Lytton Blvd.) on Sunday, March 30th at 2 p.m. Reception

Ross WATERS. He was diagnosed with cancer in October 2004 and
with a positive attitude, fought the good fight. He died at home
in the care of his family and a wonderful nursing staff. Gary
was the cherished husband of Suzanne, the loving father of Ellen

Born in Willowdale,
Ontario, Gary came to St. Catharines at the age of 21 to manage
a menswear business at the Pen Centre. He found he had a passion
for the business and ran Gary Waters Ltd., for 45 years. His
Friends and customers alike supported him as he built the store
from 3200 sq. feet to 6500 sq. feet, modeling and remodeling
as styles and tastes changed over the years. Gary was driven
to accomplish and he enjoyed his relationships with his customers
and his suppliers. He retired at the age of 65, and he and his
wife Suzanne renewed their love of travel. Gary served on the
board of the Pen Centre, was invited to be come a member of the
American Men's Retail Association, acted as chairman of the Show
Advisory Board for Fashion North, and was the president of Gary
Waters Ltd. In 1990, Gary was nominated one of the top ten Canadian
Men's Retailers of the Year by his peers. Following Gary's wishes
cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family
on Friday April 4, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the James L. Pedlar
Funeral Home, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill. A celebration of
Gary's life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday
April 5, 2008 at 11: 30 a.m. followed by the uniting of his Friends
and family for a further celebration following the service. In

Suddenly on March 11th. A World War 2 Veteran, with the Argyll
and Sutherland Highlanders, Bill
DUNCAN was always proud that
he was one of the first military officers to arrive in Holland
for their liberation. He remained a member of the Militia after
the war, and was responsible for hiring staff at Sunnybrook Hospital
upon returning home. A McMaster graduate from Hamilton, he worked
for the Federal Civil Service and the Post Office until retiring
at 60. He leaves his beloved wife of 69 years, Annabel
DUNCAN,
