The family of the late Mavis DILLMAN would like to thank our family, Friends and neighbours for their support during our time of sorrow; for prayers, cards, flowers, donations, phone calls, visits and food. A very special thank you to Doctor Gord WILLANS, the F-Wing nurses and the Cancer Clinic nurses at Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville for their excellent medical care of our mother during her struggle with cancer. We are grateful for the comforting words and spiritual guidance of Rev. Janet ERIKSEN the assistance of Norm JACK and staff at McMillan and Jack Funeral Home; the memorial service music by Maxine COPELAND, the Dundalk United Church for use of the lower hall to visit with family and Friends and the Dundalk United Church Women for preparing and serving lunch and following the memorial service. Joe, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 12, 2008 at People Care, Tavistock. Loving father of Helen and Gord McDONALD, Josephine and Stewart DAVIS, Bob WHITTAKER and friend Sheila, David and Bonnie WHITTAKER, Chuck and Leanne LONGHURST, Shawn LONGHURST, Don and Lis LONGHURST, Trevor and Linda LONGHURST. Sadly missed by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Loving companion of the late Betty LONGHURST who predeceased him on October 26, 2007. He was also predeceased by his grandson Randy DAVIS on January 13, 1985, parents George and Emily, sisters Gladys, Mabel, Myrtle, Ethel, Florence and brothers Garnet, John and Alex. Joe was a longtime crib league member. He also enjoyed Friday nights at the Culliton hockey games and was often found sitting and cheering at National Stadium. In his 86th year, surrounded by his family, went to join the Lord on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008. Beloved husband to Geraldine (née REINHART) for over 50 years. Loving father of Diane, Shirley (Terry) DAVIS, Sandra PETRIE, David (Brenda) and Gord. Cherished grandfather of Jeremy, Brianna, Stacey, Joshua, Katherine, David, Erica, Ashley, Trudy and Tyler and great-grandfather of Tristen. Survived by his sister Doris McCORMICK and his brother Jimmy MacDONALD. He was born in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton Island on October 29, 1922. He worked in the coal mines before coming to Ontario. He is known for his love of music and his ability to play the guitar and many other instruments. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Visitors will be received at the John T. Of Saint Thomas, passed away at his late residence, on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008, in his 82nd year. Dearly loved husband of over 55 years of Norma Luella CRAIG and dear brother-in-law of Betty DAVIS of Daytona, Ontario and Edna DAVIS of Mississauga. Predeceased by 3 brothers Donald, Frank Jr. and Bill. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Jack was born in Saint Thomas on October 24, 1926, the son of the late Frank and Maude Louise (KING) DAVIS. He was retired from Charterways Transportation after 25 years. Jack served in the Merchant Marine during World War 2 and also served in the Korean War with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry 2nd Battalion. He was a member of Branch 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion and a former member of the Elgin Regiment. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where funeral service will be held Saturday at 11: 00 a.m. Cremation to follow, with burial of the ashes in the Soldiers Section at South Park Cemetery. Surrounded▼ by his loving family, Philip Julius LINDEN died peacefully on July 7, 2008, at University Hospital, in his ninetieth year. Cremation has taken place. Philip was the cherished husband of Alice Mary WATEROUS for nearly 54 years, and the proud father of Matthew LINDEN (Dominique), Anna LINDEN- FRASER (Brian), and David LINDEN (Diane,▼) all of Oakville. 'Gaga' will be remembered fondly by the grandchildren he treasured: Laura, Ross, Andrew, Simon, Paul, Kate and Ben. Philip was predeceased by his sister, Mrs. Peggy DAVIS, and brother, Doctor Jack LINDEN, both of London, England. Born in England, Philip served with the British Army throughout World War Two. After coming to this country he was appointed captain in the Canadian Army and served in militia units of Royal Canadian Signals, receiving the Canada Decoration. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario, he taught secondary school in London, later becoming a founding member of the English department, Faculty of Education, Althouse College, University of Western Ontario. The funeral will take place on Friday July 11th at the Church of Saint_John the Divine, Arva, Highway 4 at Medway Road. Family and Friends will be received beginning at 1.00 P.M., with the service at 2: 00. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Burial will take place in Saint_John's cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. The family wish to offer their grateful thanks to the medical and nursing staff of the Neurology and Family Medicine-Palliative Care Departments of University Hospital, London, for their compassion and professionalism.

Peacefully at the Dearness Home, London on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 Jean Elsie (JOHNSTON) DAVIS of London and formerly of Lucan in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Richard (Dick) DAVIS (1992.) Best Mom in the world to Carole and Tim ALCE and Steve DAVIS and his friend Sandy all of London, Norma and Doug GALLOWAY of Flesherton, Sherrie and Hugh GARTON of Bayfield, Debbie DAVIS and her friend John of London. LUNAU, Gillian (née SHIELDS) (1970-2008)
It is with profound sadness that the family of Gillian LUNAU (née SHIELDS) announces her tragic passing as a result of an accident while vacationing in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on Wednesday, January 2, 2008. Gillian is survived by her beloved husband Scott of 10 years and her two beautiful angels Kate and Gavin. She was the cherished youngest daughter of Jane and James SHIELDS, adored sister of Debbie and John MICELI, Phyllis PALMER and Jeff DAVIS. Will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews Courtney, Emily and Conner MICELI, Taylor and Holly PALMER. Also survived by her grandparents Annie and Ian MURDOCH, and will never be forgotten by her aunts, uncles and cousins both in Scotland and Canada. Beloved daughter-in-law of Douglas and Anne LUNAU. Dear sister-in-law of Annie KATSIRIS (née LUNAU) and Suzanne LUNAU. She will be sadly missed by her nieces Zoe and Alexandra KATSIRIS. Gillian was the girl who had it all, beautiful, a quick wit, engaging personality, positive outlook, determination, and a real zest for life. She held close to her heart her beloved Scottish heritage and her commitment to her family. In her all too short life, Gillian's accomplishments stand out. She and Scott co-owned and operated Albion Orchards, Caledon East, a successful establishment, with a retail shop, pumpkin patch and ever popular school tours in the fall season. KARFILIS, James " Jim"
Peacefully passed away with dignity aged 81, on February 13, 2008, after a lengthy struggle with cancer. A husband of 61 years to his loving wife, Elsie, Jim was laid to rest in a private family ceremony on February 16th, 2008 at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto. In addition to Elsie, family attendees included his son Richard and his wife Karen GUTHRIE and their two sons James and Dylan, who both attend Malvern Collegiate Institute in Toronto. Also in attendance was his daughter Nancy and her husband Bob DAVIS, of New York City and their daughter, Kate, who is attending the University of California-Santa Barbara. His grandson, Christopher WAHL, his wife Ashley and Jim's first great-grandchild Charlie also attended the graveside ceremony. Jim is also survived by two other daughters, Jane and Peggy, and two other grandchildren, Lucas and Heidi. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Hospital for Sick Children in Jim's name.

Loving father of Brian (Kim) and Nora (Michael WEEDON) and predeceased by his infant son Paul (1954). Dear grandfather of Paul (Ruth), Sean and Melissa DALE; Christopher, Ryan, Robert and John WEEDON. Proud great-grandfather of Victoria and Sarah. Bill attended school in Brampton and was in the No. II army course. He studied metallurgical engineering and worked for Inco in Coppercliffe. After Osgoode Hall he was rehired by Inco in New York City. After six wonderful years he returned to Mississauga and worked the remaining years of his law career with Ridout and Maybee. Bill was active with Christ Church United, Clarkson and was president of the Rotary Club of Toronto. DIRKS, Wilhelmina G.E. (VAN STEENBERGEN)
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of the matriarch of our family on April 5, 2008.
Willy or Oma, as she was known to all, was born in Semarang on the island of Java in Indonesia. She was the only child of Dirk Th. W. VAN STEENBERGEN and Wilhelmina LE GEU. Her early years were spent on a sugar plantation managed by her father. At the age of 17 she was sent to The Netherlands to live with an aunt and uncle while she continued her education at secondary and post secondary school. She married the love of her life, Adriaan (Ad) DIRKS, on December 06, 1939. Together they had three daughters, Anke, Elsje and Luke. Their lives were impacted by the dark years of the German occupation during World War 2. Willy spent many kms. on the road, on a bicycle with no tires, trading wedding presents for food for her family. During this time Willy worried about her parents who were imprisoned in a Japanese concentration camp on the island of Java.
Determined to find a better life, Willy, Ad and the girls moved to the island of Curacao in the Netherlands Antilles and then 5 years later to Canada. As a trained bookkeeper, Willy who spoke 6 languages, first worked alongside her husband in his insurance business. However, after the girls were educated and married, Willy started Wellington Way Travel agency with offices in Markham, Ontario and Unionville, Ontario. In 1976 she retired from the business world, moved to North Eastern Ontario, to be close to her family. Unfortunately her health failed and Oma, as she was known then, moved to Northview Nursing Home in Englehart, Ontario.
Willy was predeceased by her parents, her husband Adriaan (1972), her daughter Elisabeth LOGAN (1982) and son-in-law William LOGAN She is survived by her daughters and spouses Anne and Ronald BAILEY and Lucy and Lawrence DUKE all of Thornloe, Ontario. Also by her 8 grandchildren and their spouses David BAILEY and Susan DAVIS- BAILEY, Jennifer BAILEY and David BAERG, Christopher DUKE and Elise ROBITAILLE, Andrea and Hugh HAMILTON, Matthew and Carol DUKE, Ian and Lisa LOGAN, Robert and Susan LOGAN and Jodi and Michael HARKER as well as 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received at McDonalds Funeral Home on Tues. April 8th, a funeral Mass will follow on Wed. April 9th at Holy Trinity Church both location are in Englehart, Ontario.

BRAY, David Frederick
Peacefully, after a short illness, in St. Catherine's General Hospital, April 12, 2008, at the age of 76. David is survived by his close and loving family: his wife Marilyn (JACKSON;) daughters, Elizabeth McCAY, son-in-law Warren and Carolyn HICKS, son-in-law Murray; grandchildren, Emily and Thomas McCAY; nephew, Grant GUENTHER and niece, Georgia GUENTHER. Predeceased by his parents Frederick BRAY and Emily BRAY (DAVIS) and his sister Beverley GUENTHER (BRAY.)
David obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Guelph, followed by an M.Sc. and a PhD in population genetics at Purdue University. In the fall of 1959 David joined the University of British Columbia as Assistant Professor of Poultry Genetics, followed by two years at the Animal Research Institute in Ottawa. In 1963 he was appointed Associate Professor of Genetics at McGill University. The remainder of his career was spent with the Federal Government in Ottawa, first with the Department of Health and Welfare and later at Statistics Canada. While Director of Health Statistics, David led the development of one of Statistics Canada's flagship publications 'Health Reports'. During this time he earned a Masters in Public Administration at Harvard University. David was also involved in the formation of the Statistical Society of Canada, of which he was elected the first President in 1978. From 1984 to 1992 David was Managing Editor of the Canadian Journal of Statistics.
After retirement from the Federal Public Service in 1991, David took on a year as Interim Director of Health Policy, Research and Evaluation at Queen's University, remaining associated with Queen's for a further three years. David and Marilyn have spent a very enjoyable retirement, living in Niagara-On-The-Lake and at the family cottage, as well as deriving pleasure from travelling during those years. Volunteer activities included membership on the Niagara Health System, Research Ethics Board. Throughout David's life with Marilyn, family was always an important source of happiness and pride. He especially enjoyed nurturing the growth of his two grandchildren, Emily and Thomas. Private family service and interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery at a later date.

Passed away peacefully on May 8, 2008 at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in his 91st year. Beloved husband of the late Mary LANGFORD (née McCORVIE.) Father of Kenneth W. LANGFORD and his wife Elizabeth DAVIS. Grandfather of Margaret and Martha. son of the late George B. and Hazel West LANGFORD. Ken was the former Managing Director of the Canadian Paraplegic Association Member of the Lyndhurst Hospital Board; Former Chairman of the National Council of Veteran's Association; Honorary Member of the Sir Arthur Pearson Association of War Blinded. He was also an Honorary citizen of Trinidad and Tobago, a country he loved to visit. Sybil May DARNELL (née MAHON) died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, Mothers Day, May 11th in Chester, Nova Scotia. Her son Peter was at her side. Children were central to Sybil's life. As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she respected and supported her children and their ways in the world. Sybil's support and respect for children extended beyond the family. As a young adult she taught at Balfour Technical School in Regina. Later she was a school trustee on the North York Board for several terms. Many times she helped students overlooked by the system. Sybil was also the national president of United Nations Children's Fund Canada and later, with other development activists, founded PUEBLITO, a non-governmental organization that provides housing in developing countries. As a much loved member of Parkwoods United Church, her door opened many times to young and old from around the world looking for shelter for a few weeks or a few years. Sybil's efforts for a better life for all, was an example and inspiration to many women. Her work lead her to found the Osteoporosis Foundation. In 2003, she was recognized with the Governor General's Caring Canadian award. Sybil was born May 18, 1915 in Ottawa, grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan and in 1950 moved to Toronto. She was predeceased by her husband, William Lewis DARNELL, her brother Clarence MAHON, and sisters Myrtle GRUER, Louise GRUER, and Hazel ROBINSON. She will be missed by her children and their partners, Bill DARNELL and Phyllis BEARDSLEY, Peter DARNELL and Barbara DAVIS and Laurel DARNELL and Reid CAMPBELL as well as her grandchildren Simon, Jesse, Lindsay, Tommy, Zack (Jennifer), Eli (Eileen), Vida, Gwyneth and Linden and great-grandchildren Colin and Madelyn. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews, including John (Gail), Jim, Neil, Sheila (Larry) and Allan (Peggy). Surrounded▲ by his loving family, Philip Julius LINDEN died peacefully on July 7, 2008, at University Hospital, in his ninetieth year. Cremation has taken place. Philip was the cherished husband of Alice Mary WATEROUS for nearly 54 years, and the proud father of Matthew LINDEN (Dominique), Anna LINDEN- FRASER (Brian), and David LINDEN (Diane,▲) all of Oakville. 'Gaga' will be remembered fondly by the grandchildren he treasured: Laura, Ross, Andrew, Simon, Paul, Kate and Ben. Philip was predeceased by his sister, Mrs. Peggy DAVIS, and brother, Doctor Jack LINDEN, both of London, England.
Born in England, Philip served with the British Army throughout World War Two. After coming to this country he was appointed captain in the Canadian Army and served in militia units of Royal Canadian Signals, receiving the Canada Decoration. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario, he taught secondary school in London, later becoming a founding member of the English department, Faculty of Education, Althouse College, University of Western Ontario.
The funeral will take place on Friday July 11th at the Church of Saint_John the Divine, Arva, Highway 4 at Medway Road. Family and Friends will be received beginning at 1.00 P.M., with the service at 2: 00. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Burial will take place in Saint_John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
