enthusiasm and he was greatly loved, and will be deeply missed,
by his many adopted families, earned during a lifetime of devotion

CORLESS was an active priest in
the Archdiocese of Toronto for 49 years. He was ordained on June 3,
1950 and served as Associate Pastor at Saint_James Parish, Toronto,
Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish, Toronto, St. Leo's Parish, Etobicoke
and Saint Mary's Parish, Toronto and
as Pastor of Saint Mary's Parish,
Victoria Harbour, Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Etobicoke, Saint Paul's
Basilica, Toronto and Saint Maria Goretti Parish, Scarborough.
He served as Spiritual Director at Serra House from 1995 until
1999, when he retired. Father was a friend of L'Arche from its
beginning in North America and was also deeply involved in Faith
and Light, Young Christian Workers and the Catholic Children's
Aid Society. His compassion and kindness knew no depths and are
the greatest gifts he leaves to all those who knew him, and many
who didn't. Many thanks to the staff at the Houses of Providence,
the Archdiocese of Toronto and especially to Donna Peniston for
the loving care provided to him. Resting at R.S. Kane Funeral
Home, 6150 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario, on Tuesday, February 5
from 2: 00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at L'Arche Daybreak,
11339 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill, Ontario from 7: 00 to 9:00 p.m.
on Wednesday, February 6. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated

years, Mary was especially delighted by visits from her great-grandchildren

was the daughter of the late Rev. Robert
SMITH and Dora (nee
FIELDS) and was predeceased by her sisters Dora and Jenny and
her brothers Herbert and Arthur. Growing up she lived in many
small towns in the Eastern townships and Quebec and then attended
McGill University and
MacDonald Normal School in Montreal. After
teaching for one year, she enrolled in the Canadian Women's Army
Corps and while serving in London, England met and married Harold.
Mary was a spirited, independent and intelligent woman. While
raising her family, she returned to teaching and continued her
education, graduating from Queen's University (1971) and qualifying
as a primary educational specialist and teaching librarian. She
was instrumental in designing and establishing elementary school
libraries in Owen Sound. The young children loved story time
with Mrs. COTTON and she had many devoted library helpers over
the years. Mary had many varied interests (reading, music (piano),
travel, knitting, bridge, rocks) and like her husband Harold,
continued to learn and take on new challenges. Mary and Harold
were tremendous role models for their children, students and
Friends. Sincere appreciation is expressed to the staff of the
Saint Thomas Elgin General Hospital for the loving care provided
to Mary. Visitation will be held at the George Funeral Home,
430 Mary Street, Wiarton on Sunday, June 29, 2008 from 7: 00 to
9: 00 p.m. and
on Monday, June 30th from 12:30 p.m. until the
time of the service at 2: 00 p.m. Interment Bayview Cemetery.

Sarnia. Born in 1932 in Saint Thomas, Ontario, Jim was a graduate
(1952) of the University of Western Ontario (Philosophy) and
an Associate (1950) of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
From 1955 to 1974 he taught History and Music at his beloved
Pelham District High School in Fenwick Ontario, and until his
retirement in 1988 was a member of the History Department at
E.L. Crossley Secondary School near Fonthill. Jim loved to read
and write, and authored a manuscript, 'Our Living Past', an extensive
survey of world history centering on mankind's intellectual and
artistic achievements, that was used by thousands of his students.
Music was ever present in Jim's life and he was active in many
musical events as a solo performer (piano and harpsichord) and
choir member, and felt privileged to have been a student of harpsichordist
Wanda Landowska. He was a strong supporter of the Niagara Symphony
Orchestra, having served on the Board from 1979 to 1992, and
was recognized with a Life-Time Achievement award in 2002. Besides
attending with Audrey hundreds of sporting and other events involving
his children and grandchildren for close to fifty years, Jim
was an avid collector of rare books and manuscripts, with particular
emphasis on philosophical and theological works of the Renaissance.
Visitation will be at the James L. Pedlar Funeral Home, 1292 Pelham
Street, Fonthill, Ontario on Tuesday, July 8th and Wednesday
July 9th 2008, from 2: 00 pm-4:00 p.m. and 7:00 pm-9:00 p.m. To
honour Jim, a celebration of Jim's life will be held in the chapel
of James L. Pedlar Funeral Home, Fonthill, on Thursday July 10th
