Sarnia. Born in 1932 in Saint Thomas, Ontario, Jim was a graduate
(1952) of the University of Western Ontario (Philosophy) and
an Associate (1950) of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
From 1955 to 1974 he taught History and Music at his beloved
Pelham District High School in Fenwick Ontario, and until his
retirement in 1988 was a member of the History Department at
E.L. Crossley Secondary School near Fonthill. Jim loved to read
and write, and authored a manuscript, 'Our Living Past', an extensive
survey of world history centering on mankind's intellectual and
artistic achievements, that was used by thousands of his students.
Music was ever present in Jim's life and he was active in many
musical events as a solo performer (piano and harpsichord) and
choir member, and felt privileged to have been a student of harpsichordist
Wanda Landowska. He was a strong supporter of the Niagara Symphony
Orchestra, having served on the Board from 1979 to 1992, and
was recognized with a Life-Time Achievement award in 2002. Besides
attending with Audrey hundreds of sporting and other events involving
his children and grandchildren for close to fifty years, Jim
was an avid collector of rare books and manuscripts, with particular
emphasis on philosophical and theological works of the Renaissance.
Visitation will be at the James L. Pedlar Funeral Home, 1292 Pelham
Street, Fonthill, Ontario on Tuesday, July 8th and Wednesday
July 9th 2008, from 2: 00 pm-4:00 p.m. and 7:00 pm-9:00 p.m. To
honour Jim, a celebration of Jim's life will be held in the chapel
of James L. Pedlar Funeral Home, Fonthill, on Thursday July 10th

great pride for Doug and they will all miss their 'Papa' terribly.
Predeceased by his brother Don (Hélène) and his sister Patsy

Doug is also survived by his sister Peggy (Don
KEMP) as well as many nieces and nephews. After attending University
of Toronto Schools, Doug earned an engineering degree from the
University of Toronto in 1945. While in university, Doug was
the Engineering Class President in his junior year, a member
of the Engineers' Gold Key Society, the university heavyweight
boxing champion, and was involved in many other sports and activities.
Doug also served in the Canadian Army from May, 1944 until September,
1945. During this period, Doug was enlisted with the Royal Canadian
Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and was accepted as an officer
in training prior to his discharge. After the war, Doug went
on to enjoy a successful business career in Montreal with stops
at Alcan, Dominion Bridge and Pratt and Whitney. Following his
retirement, Doug was able to devote more time to sailing his
yacht 'Windlark' with family members and he rekindled his boyhood
interest in building and flying remote-controlled model airplanes.
The family expresses warm appreciation to the staff of the McCall
Continuing Care Centre and, in particular, the fourth-floor nurses
and caregivers for their goodhumoured and big-hearted care in
Doug's final days. There will be a short service and a celebration
of Doug's life for Friends and family members at 3: 00 p.m. on
Sunday, February 3, 2008 at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles
Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East).

growing up in Seaforth, Ontario, Bill served in the Royal Canadian
Navy and fought in the Korean War. Soon after he married Barb
and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force allowing them to enjoy
traveling the world. After retiring from his 33 years of duty
with the Canadian Armed Forces, Bill and Barb settled in London.
Here Bill enjoyed working for General Motors until his retirement.
Bill and Barb enjoyed spending summers in Florida and California.
Bill was a proud member of the Legion, the Masons and most of
all a loyal fan of the Leafs. Bill will be fondly remembered
by all his neighbours and Friends. Now in passing Bill has been
reunited with Barb where they can continue their adventure. Special
thanks to the staff of University Hospital. Cremation has taken

variety of interests and enjoyed travelling, animals and playing
bridge. Despite numerous physical difficulties in her later years,
she continued to participate fully in life.
She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Val was born in Kingston and lived
in Ottawa, Halifax, Vancouver and Toronto. She attended Havergal
College and spent her summers in Metis Beach. In 1943, Val joined
the Canadian Red Cross as an ambulance driver and served overseas
in England during the war. After returning and marrying Jim,
Val began her volunteer career which spanned five decades. Her
volunteerism included the Junior League, the Children's Aid Society,
the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Canadian Friends of Museums.
Val was also actively involved with the Havergal College and
the Toronto Golf Club. She always gave generously of herself
both to her family and volunteer activities. A special thank
you to the wonderful staff at Bradgate Arms and to the caregivers
in Vancouver who cared for Mum over the last few years and made
her days much brighter as she coped with Parkinson's disease.
Visitation will be at Humphrey Funeral Home, 1403 Bayview Ave
on Thursday April 17th from 4: 00 to 8:00 p.m. A service will
be held on Friday April 18th at 11: 00 a.m. at St. Clements Church.
