July 29th, 2008 at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Sudbury at the age of 56. Nancy
was born and raised in Little Current on the Manitoulin Island. She took
great pride in her home town and being a Haweater. Nancy and her family
moved to North Bay, where she attended Chippewa Secondary School and
North Bay Teachers College. Nancy enjoyed being a primary teacher for
several years before becoming an insurance broker, working at Martins
Insurance and Knox Insurance. Nancy was at her happiest when spending
time with family and Friends. She was the heart of our family and her
home has long been the family gathering place for special occasions,
holidays and summer vacations. Nancy's many Friends also meant so much to
her and brought her great joy and laughter. Nancy always looked forward
to her annual and sometimes biannual trips to Mexico with family and
Friends, where they enjoyed fun, sun, food and drinks. Nancy cherished a
recent week in July in the company of family and Friends sharing stories,
laughter, food and drink. Nancy was vivacious, generous and caring. She
had great inner strength and grace with which she faced her final
challenge. Nancy will be forever remembered by her children Chris
(Kaelin) and Julie (Randi), her mother Sheila, her sisters Peggy (David)
and Lynn (Joel) and brother Rob (Anne), her nieces and nephews Steven,
Jason, Viet, Japhy, Zachary, Hannah, Elizabeth, Michael and Katie and the
Pigden family. Nancy will also be missed by her beloved dog Cowper.
Funeral services were held in the Martyn Funeral Chapel, 464 Wyld Street,
North Bay on Saturday August 2nd at 11: 00 am. Interment followed in
