Passed away peacefully, at General and Marine Hospital, Collingwood, on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, in his 91st year. Born in Rob Roy, son of the late Joseph and Cicely. LAIER, Brenda (née CHAPMAN)
Was known by all as the most generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend, passed away in the presence and love of her family and Friends on Sunday morning at 11: 30. Brenda was born 63 years ago in Toronto to her mother Lorna (RUSSELL) CHAPMAN of Chatham and her father, the late Stanley CHAPMAN (1976.) She is survived by her loving husband Bill LAIER and together, he and Brenda were in their 35th year of marriage. A marriage that became even stronger as Bill supported Brenda's courageous two-and-a-half year battle with cancer. Brenda will be sadly missed by her children Michelle HARE of Blenheim, Kevin LAIER of Dorchester, Lori REED (Dale) of Calgary, Lisa ENGELAGE (Jim) of British Columbia and Dan LAIER of Merlin. Grandmother will be missed by nine grandchildren Jason, Scott, Tina, Nicole, Danielle, John, Duncan, Natalie, Jennifer. Brenda was also a special niece to Leona and Mel HENRY of Dundalk, and she was the proud Auntie of Jeff CHAPMAN, Shelby GILBERT (Pete) and Paul CHAPMAN. She is predeceased by her brother Don CHAPMAN (1996.) Brenda had a generous heart and gave freely of her time to the Blenheim United Church U.C.W., Randolph Churchill Chapter Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire, Meals on Wheels and in keeping with her playful spirit, she was also a member of the Red Hat Society, "Classie Lassie" Chapter. Brenda always enjoyed her time living out by St. Clair Bush. From her backyard she could always watch the birds feed and the rabbits play. She always had a great love for animals and was known for bringing in any stray cat or dog that needed a warm and loving home. Family records indicate that at one point in time, there were seven cats and two dogs that made Brenda's home their home too. Visitation was held at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home, 60 Stanley Street, Blenheim on Tuesday January 29, 2008. A Funeral Service celebrating Brenda's life was held from the Blenheim United Church, on Wednesday January 30, 2008. Officiating was Rev. Bruce COOK of the Blenheim United Church. Interment followed in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Friends wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Brenda's life are asked to consider either the Cancer Society's Blenheim "Relay for Life", Ontario Society For The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (O.S.P.C.A.), or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. She was predeceased in 1977 by her husband Danard Alexander COOK of Meaford and formerly of Rocklyn. She will be remembered as the loving mother of Keith COOK (Sheila▼) of Brantford, Douglas COOK (Pat) of Collingwood, and Sandra McDOUGALL (Tom) of R.R.#5 Owen Sound. Thelma passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services in Meaford at the age of 84, on Saturday May 3, 2008, after a brief illness. Born in Euphrasia Township on April 9, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harman and Clara (née HINDMAN) COOK. Thelma married Arthur Herbert TAILOR/TAYLOR on October 26, 1946. The couple enjoyed working together in the family orchards in Clarksburg for many years. Bird watching, quilting, gardening and baking apple pies were some of Thelma's many interests. Thelma will be remembered for her ever present smile and quiet manner. She was committed not only to her family but also to her church and community. She will be forever remembered as a loving mother by her daughter Bonnie and her husband Brian McCOLGAN of Meaford, son Ted TAILOR/TAYLOR and his wife Sonia of Chatham, and daughter Joyce GAUCI of Meaford. Thelma was predeceased by her beloved husband Art in February 1994 and by her daughter Linda THOMS of Craigleith in August 2004. Thelma was the cherished mother-in-law of Brenda TAILOR/TAYLOR of Clarksburg and Stewart THOMS of Craigleith. Thelma will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Taylor and Kelly; Michelle (Kevin), Michael (Anna), Meghan (Mike), Joey and Jessie; Erin (Blue); Dustin and Josh and by her great-granddaughters; Caitlin, Keira and Kendra. She▲ was predeceased by her brother, Beverley COOK of Rocklyn, in September 2000 and is warmly remembered by her sister-in-law Eileen COOK of Owen Sound. It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our Mom, Edna Mary BOTHWELL, in her 94th year, at the Grey Bruce Health Services-Owen Sound, on June 1st, 2008. Born May 18th, 1915, she was the only daughter of the late Bob and Sadie (COOK) BOYD. Mom will have endless stories to tell our Dad, Allan (May 23, 1959). Most importantly that two teenagers and a toddler, Mayme, Marie and Alvena increased the family to include sons-in-law, Bill HILLIS, Doug ORMSBY and Tom MARTIN; also five grandchildren and six great-granchildren. Several nieces and nephews survive, as well as special friend, Marg RADBOURNE, sister-in-law Viola (Mrs. Gordon BOTHWELL,) and Friends at the Parkway Apartments, where she thoroughly enjoyed “calling home” for the past thirty-one years. Mr. REIDY was a Veteran of World War 2, enlisted in 1939, served overseas from 1940 in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany and returned to Canada in 1945. He is a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Wiarton and the Kiwanis “Golden K”, Owen Sound. He is a descendent of one of the oldest Irish families of London. The most important thing in life to Edith and Leighton was their family. She was the proud mother of 5 sons, and grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. On Saturday, May 10, 2008 at L.H.S.C. Wendy Verline (COOK) GOWAN, in her 63rd year, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Wendy is predeceased by her parents Stan and Julia COOK. Surviving are her brother Calvin (Bernadette) of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia and sister Mary COOK of London. She will be sadly missed by her children Perry (Lisa) McMILLAN of Dutton, Lisa NEWMAN (Randy OSSELL) of Eagle, Les (Tonia) CAMPBELL of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Laura CAMPBELL (Trevor ALVIS) of Boissevain, Manitoba and grandchildren Jamie and Alicia McMILLAN, Adam and Clarissa NEWMAN, Randy OSSEL Jr., Brice and Jenna CAMPBELL, Delaney ALVIS and great-grand_son Trent NEWMAN. CLARK, Alexander Barry " Arch"
On Wednesday, July 2, 2008, Barry succumbed to a 12 month battle with lung and brain cancer which was diagnosed in June of 2007 in Victoria, British Columbia. He was 62 years of age. Since September of 2007 when he was able to return to Saint Thomas, he has been a patient at the Saint Thomas Elgin General Hospital. The wonderful team of Doctor Joel KEENLEYSIDE, Doctor Paula DONAHUE and the exceptional nurses on Units C and D prolonged his life and he was able to enjoy memorable times with family, former teachers and school chums. The family sincerely thanks the afore-mentioned and those who brightened his days with visits and outings. Barry was born in 1933 while his parents, the late Stanley and Agnes (McCALLUM) CLARK, lived in Dutton, Ontario. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Saint Thomas where Barry attended Scott Street School and later excelled in academia, basketball and volleyball at CECI and Saint Thomas Collegiate Institute. He was fortunate to be able to attend University of Toronto on a full scholarship and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He entered the computer field at an exciting time and most of his career as an analyst was spent with International Business Machines Corporation - in Toronto, Montreal, Saint_John, Winnipeg and Calgary. Laterally, he spent his life in beautiful Victoria. He was an avid reader, a lover of jazz and he always kept fit by working out in the gym. Barry's older siblings will hold his memory close to their hearts - Bob (Mary Ellen) CLARK of the Philadephia area, Barb (Ken) TUFF of Saint Thomas, Bill (Patti) CLARK of Toronto and Newfoundland, and Bevin CLARK of Brockville. A special cousin, Doris (Stride) ROULSTON of London, will also hold him dear. Barry's nieces and nephews will always remember him for his quiet, gentle and caring nature - Meri-Sue, Mike (Hollie,) Mark and Margaret (John CONWAY) CLARK; Paul (Karen,) Jane (Bill IDSARDI) and Peter (Shelley) TUFF, Melanie CLARK- HANSEN and Jamie CLARK. Eleanor (McCALLUM) and Don BRANCHFLOWER of Glencoe and Alice (CLARK) COOK of London are his only surviving aunts and uncle. Barry bore his illness with great stoicism and determination. Cremation has taken place (Needham Funeral Service in London) and his ashes will be interred in Cowal Cemetery with his parents and many other family relatives and ancestors, all of whom originally came to the area from Argyleshire, Scotland. Born in Greenock, Scotland, he maintained a deep love for Scotland and his Scottish family. Gordon loved the open water and sailing. In World War 2, he served with the Royal Canadian Navy on Atlantic/North Sea duty. Graduated in 1948 from University of Toronto (Mechanical Engineering). After working for Union Gas and Trans Mountain Pipeline companies, in 1956 he established G.I. Russell and Company Limited, his consulting professional engineering practice. He founded Interprovincial Corrosion Control Ltd. and Isoionics. As a pioneer in promoting corrosion prevention for steel integrity maintenance, he conducted R and D, designing and applying cutting edge and innovative solutions, aiming to ensure public safety and optimal corrosion prevention. Gordon was Founding Chair, Southern Ontario Committee on Electrolytes, Founding Chair, National Association of Corrosion Engineers (Canadian Division) and Principal, Walter W. Smeltzer Corrosion Laboratory at McMaster University.
Close to his heart were his family, many Friends and time spent enjoying Ellie, Cairn and Muskoka.

Born in London, England in 1925, died peacefully at home on Tuesday March 25, 2008. Beloved husband of Nancy Elizabeth (née COUILLARD.) Dear father of Judy WOOD, David and the late Bruce (1980.) Dear father-in-law of Lawrence ONISTO, Margaret COOK, Edith HEYCK and the late Ted WOOD (1990.) Loving grandfather of Kathleen, Bruce and Matthew WOOD and Rachel, Robin and Erica COOK. He will be sadly missed by his devoted sister Peggy (Margaret) COOK of Sussex, England. John was a loving uncle, brother-in-law and cousin to an extended family both here and in England. John was a peaceful, gentle and artistic man who enjoyed his family, a good pipe, walking his dogs, reading and building models. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 29 2008 at 1 p.m. at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 1513 Dixie Road, Mississauga, Ontario. A reception in the church hall will follow. HENRY, Edna Georgina (née McINTYRE)
Edna Georgina HENRY (née McINTYRE) passed away peacefully on Sunday April 13, 2008 at the Peter Lougheed Centre. Edna is survived by her daughters Catherine MOSHER (Hugh) and Sheila COOK (Pierre LEBEL) and granddaughters Nicole and Megan COOK. Edna was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) HENRY in July 1994, sisters-in-laws Betty HENRY and Eleanor HENRY in 1995, and her sister Isabel JOHNSTON in 1996.
Born in Collingwood, Ontario on October 9, 1923, Edna grew up in Collingwood later moving to Toronto where she met and married Bill in 1955. Immediately after the wedding she and Bill moved to Calgary where Catherine and Sheila were born. Edna returned to Toronto in 1966 with Bill's transfer and lived there until 1997 when she moved back to Calgary to be closer to her family.
A very active member of the Presbyterian Church she spent many years serving the Church in a variety of capacities, the most recent of which was with the Board of World Missions. Edna was a longstanding member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (Calgary), Iona Presbyterian Church (Toronto) and Glenview Presbyterian Church (Toronto) where she served as an elder.
Edna was a resident of the Forest Grove Care Centre at the time of her passing and her family would like to thank Forest Grove for their care of and attention to Edna for the past 18 months.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11: 00 a.m. on Thursday April 24, 2008 at Glenview Presbyterian Church, 1 Glenview Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M4R 1P5.

Marjorie passed away surrounded by her family at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket on April 26, 2008. Survived by her loving companion Don NEWTON. Cherished mother of Janine McQUEEN (Norman,) Trevor COOK, Lynn COOK (Ken COMRIE), Kathi HALL (David), Karen SALCEDO (Alfredo), Donna WITLOX (née NEWTON) (Herman), Al NEWTON (Lori). Sadly missed by her 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life to be held at Cardinal Golf Club, 2740 Hwy. 9, Kettleby, Ontario (Hwy. 9, east of 400), from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2008. On Saturday, June 7, 2008 in his 60th year at York Central Hospital with his family by his side. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife Janice and his sons Christopher and Mark. Predeceased by his parents Howard and Gloria. Dear brother of Paul (Julie) and Diane (John HOWEY.) Son-in-law of Kent and Vivian DAVIS. Brother-in-law of Brian McLAUGHLIN (Shari), David McLAUGHLIN (Rosemary), John DAVIS (deceased), Laura COOK (Jim), Julie CARROLL (Paul,) Virginia DYMOTT (Peter,) and Nancy JONES. Veteran World War 2, Royal Canadian Navy
Passed away peacefully on Saturday June 14, 2008 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at the age of 82, surrounded by his 4 loving daughters; Leslie BUSH- HARRISS, Kimberley GOULD, Kerry COOK, Lindsey DRAGONE. Survived by his wife Dorothy and his sons-in-law Hal GOULD, Mike COOK and Nick DRAGONE. Lovingly remembered by his 8 grandchildren, Daniel HARRISS, Hallie and John GOULD, Jordan and Barrett COOK, Frank,▲ Dana▲ and Cole DRAGONE. Also survived by his sisters Audley (George) JACKSON, North Carolina; Beverley MURRAY, Toronto and Linda BRESNAHAN, Massachusetts, and their children.
Born Verdun, Quebec 1925; served as Seaman for R.C.N. and R.N. and on H.M.C.S. Snowberry 1943-45. Member of P.E.O., A.P.P.E.G.A., I.E.E.E., U.N.T.D. (Upper Canada) and Zeta Delta of Sigma Nu.
Ley grew up in Montreal, and maintained ties with Friends, colleagues and family there after he left to enlist in the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 17. His service in the navy on the H.M.C.S. Snowberry, and particularly its role during the preparation stages of D-Day, had a profound effect on his life and he continued his association with the Canadian Naval Association until his death. As a veteran, he attended memorial services held in Canada, Normandy and recently at the 60th anniversary of the V.E. Day celebrations in The Netherlands.
Upon his discharge from the service, Ley travelled to Toronto where he met and married Dorothy MOUNTJOY. He then enrolled at the University of Toronto and obtained his Electrical Engineering Degree. He was passionate about his chosen profession and only retired, reluctantly, in his seventies. His career allowed him to indulge another passion: travel, and he worked on many projects abroad, including Europe, Hong Kong and The Phillippines.
Ley and Dorothy had four daughters in quick succession, who subsequently married and provided him with sons-in-law, and eight grandchildren whom he adored. Poppa was devoted to his grandchildren and has left them all very special memories of family ski trips, evenings at the horseraces, and amusing tales and anecdotes from his childhood.
He will be thoroughly missed and his memory cherished.
Ley passed from this life as he lived it: unfailingly civilized, considerate and dignified. Rest in peace Dad.

It is with great sadness the family announces the death of Mary URQUHART on Saturday, July 12, 2008. Predeceased by her beloved husband Douglas William (1985). Loving mother to Ian and Jean (Brian COOK.) Grandmother of Graham COOK and sister of Eleanor LLOYD, all of St. Catharines. Sister-in-law of the late Malcolm C. URQUHART and his wife Elizabeth of Kingston. Mary will be missed by her nephew Elliot URQUHART, wife Geraldine and their family, all from Calgary, and Jamie LLOYD and his family from Bolton. Her optimism and caring will be missed by all who knew her. She took great pride in keeping her mind alert and active as an avid reader, by playing bridge and completing crossword puzzles. Mary had a keen interest in everything and everyone.
