Peacefully at home in Seaforth, with her loving family at her side, on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, Mary Jane Leone FINLAYSON in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Arthur FINLAYSON (2001.) Dearly loved mother of Gail (Bill) UHLER, Diane (Stephen) MARCH, Jim (Marian) FINLAYSON, Brad (Teresa) FINLAYSON, Brenda (Ken) EMPEY, and Brett (Janice) FINLAYSON. Loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Survived by brother Bill (Norma) COLEMAN, Kippen and sister Shirley (Cliff) DELL, Belleville. Predeceased by a granddaughter Jamie FINLAYSON, in infancy and sisters Annie (Hugh) MORENZ and Sadie COLEMAN. Mary was active in many community activities and a of Northside United Church. She cherished time spent with her family, grandchildren and Friends. Over the years she enjoyed lawn bowling and reporting club news. Her love of gardening, cooking and quilting was evident by her successes at the Fall Fair. Will be missed by his sisters Nancy THOMAS, Mary Jane TAVENER, brother-in-law Ian (Julia,) best friend for 44 years Bob (Diane) WILKINSON, niece April and nephew Lance and missed by extended family and Friends. Dearly loved partner of Jerry COLEMAN and loved daughter of Janet (McNAUGHTON) BUCHAN of Elgin Manor and the late Donald BUCHAN. Dear step-mother of Damian and his wife Daniele COLEMAN of Saint Thomas, Julie and her husband Craig KENNEY of Toronto and Melissa and her husband Colin DUFFY of London. Dear sister of Jane BUCHAN of Saint Thomas and Kenneth BUCHAN of Woodstock. Sadly missed by four grandchildren. Catherine was born in London April 24th, 1949. She worked over 25 years for the C.I.B.C. and has worked for the Credit Unit at the Saint Thomas Psychiatric Hospital the past four years. Passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Strathmere Lodge, in her 89th year. Harriet Jean Kendall (PARKER) was the beloved wife of Loren GAST for over 70 years, mother of Roger (Ruth) of Strathroy, David (Sharon) of London, and Karl (Linda) of Alvinston. She leaves behind eight grandchildren - Paul (Laurie) GAST, Bryan (Kathy) GAST, Rob (Carina) GAST, Marty (Holly) GAST, Kent (Norma) COLEMAN, Karrie (Mark) BROWN, Josh GAST, and Janene GAST, and fourteen great-grandchildren - Jeffrey, Jillian and Victoria GAST, Zachary, Mathew and Grace GAST, Amanda and Kayleigh GAST, Kendra and Jackson COLEMAN, and Jasmine, Desyrea, Deante and Keearra BROWN. Jean will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews and will be sadly missed by her family and many Friends. Jean was predeceased by son Paul Stephen, who was taken in a fire which destroyed the family home in 1952, another son in infancy, four sisters - Islay SHAW, Mildred PARKER, Hope HOLT, Jessie THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, four brothers - Robert, Gordon, Rupert and Douglas PARKER, and three brothers who died in infancy - Bruce, Jamie and Scott. KELSEY, Mary Thelma (née WHITMAN)
Age 84, of Sidney, British Columbia, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2008, at Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Thelma was born on December 11, 1923 in Pictou, Nova Scotia, to Minnie LAURA and Arthur WHITMAN. She grew up with her younger sisters, Faye and Shirley, and graduated from Pictou Academy in 1941. In January, 1942, she boarded a train for Montreal and the Royal Victoria Hospital, where she obtained her R.N. In 1946, at a time when Flight Attendants had to be nurses, she joined Trans-Canada Airlines (Air Canada). While working at Trans-Canada Airlines, she met and married then First Officer Whitey KELSEY in July, 1947. In May, 1949, the couple moved to Hudson, Quebec, and raised their three children. They left Hudson for Toronto in 1976. Many years were enjoyed 'snowbirding' in Ft. Myers, Florida. Thelma settled in Sidney, British Columbia in the mid-nineties. Thelma traveled the world extensively, frequently returning with culinary recipes which she passionately shared with family and Friends. Thelma is survived by her husband, Whitey, and her dear friend Bob Young, both of Sidney; her three children, Brian, and Marilyn JESPERSEN (Kent,) all of Calgary, and Murray (MaryAnn), of Maple Ridge; her grandchildren, Jill and Jenny KELSEY of Edmonton, Blake JESPERSEN (Linda) and great-grandchild Maddie of Toronto, Lindsey MacINNES (Philippe,) of Port Moody, British Columbia, and Brent JESPERSEN of Calgary and Conor and Jake KELSEY of Maple Ridge; her sister Shirley COLEMAN (Bub,) of Halifax and her nephews, Peter, Rob and Michael COLEMAN. ANDREW, Sadie (née COLEMAN)
On Saturday, May 17th, 2008, after a mercifully short and remarkably stoic battle with cancer, Sadie passed away peacefully. She was the adored wife of Archie for almost 64 years; loving mother to Don (Barbara Ann), Brian (Sylvie) and Barbara; and a irrepressible grandmother to Benjamin, Samuel, Jessica and Ross. Sister to Jim COLEMAN of Bangor, N. Ireland (deceased,) Betty McCONNELL of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and June PIDUTTI of Pignano, Italy. Sadie was born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland. During the war she was a sergeant in the Auxiliary Territorial Service, the women's branch of the British Army. She and Archie had a wartime romance and wedding; five days later, he was on a troop ship to Bombay. Not to be outdone, Sadie volunteered for overseas service and finished out the war in Egypt and Kenya. After the war, with Don only a year old, she joined Archie for new adventures in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). They spent 15 years in that beautiful country and Brian and Barbara were born there. With civil war looming, the intrepid pair left Africa and moved to Canada; first to Montreal and then Mississauga, where they have lived for the past 43 years. Sadie worked for many years as a secretary with the Peel Board of Education, running her school with trademark efficiency and good humour. Sadie was happiest when surrounded by family and Friends. She always liked 'something going on' and adored getting together for fun and conversation. She was an expert teller of tales and her quick wit usually left her listeners helpless with laughter. The lights shone brighter when Sadie was around. A special thanks to the exceptional staff at Beechwood Court and Beechwood Place for their extraordinary care and compassion. The concern, respect and heartfelt feelings they displayed to Sadie and her family leavened this difficult journey. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Applewood United Church, 2067 Stanfield Road, Mississauga, Ontario. Reception follows at the church. On Friday, May 30th, 2008, surrounded by family, following a courageous fight awaiting a liver transplant, at the age of 69 years. He will be dearly missed by wife Joan (TAILOR/TAYLOR) and children Andrew (Jeannie), Jonathan (Eileen) and Mary Caroline. Dearly loved Pa of grand_sons Declan and Ben PERKINS and granddaughter Amelia PERKINS. Beloved son to Joseph and Doris (TAGGART) PERKINS, both deceased, and son-in-law to Anna (Taylor) COLEMAN. Loyal and loving brother to Sherle PERKINS and Harry PERKINS (deceased,) and brother-in-law to Liz WEBSTER. Passed away peacefully at her home in Toronto on Wednesday, June 11, 2008. Born in Montreal in 1927, Eleanor was the daughter of the late William and Jean COLEMAN (née NEESON.) She will be sadly missed be her sister Eileen and husband Daniel RELATION. Also survived by sister-in-law Maxine COLEMAN and several nieces, nephews and a dear friend Dawn Bray. Eleanor was pre-deceased by her mother, father and a brother William COLEMAN. Eleanor had a long and successful career with British Petroleum and Petro Canada, and was greatly respected for her spirit and professionalism. Eleanor had many cherished Friends as a result of working for BP Canada. It is with great sadness we announce the very sudden passing of Mike in his 66th year on March 2, 2008 at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital. His family by his side, his love will forever be in our hearts. Dear brother of Romaine FISHER of Peterborough and the late Petra BAINES. Dolph was born in London, Ontario on August 9th, 1933 the son of the late Dolph and Hazel (COLES) COATES. He lived all his life in London and Port Stanley. Dolph was retired from Canada Trust. He was a member of Saint Mark's Masonic Lodge, Port Stanley, the Shrine, Mocha Temple Guard Unit, the Saint Thomas Golden "K" Kiwanis Club and the Saint Thomas Duplicate Bridge Club. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, mentor, friend, son and brother, Frederic Charles COLES, on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the age of 64 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Fred spent 36 years as a Petroleum Engineer in the Calgary Oil and Gas Industry significantly contributing to the development of GLJ Petroleum Consultants Ltd. and to the growth of several Junior Oil and Gas Corporations, Trusts, and Capital Corporations through his contributions as a member of their Boards of Directors. Fred has touched many individuals through his endless ability to give of himself, a trait that will be sorely missed by so many. Besides his friend Joyce McKinney, Fred is survived by children, Warren (Nicole LIBOIRON- COLES) and Karin (Stephen KELBA;) his grandchildren, Richard KELBA, Alexander KELBA, Jackson COLES and Rhianna KELBA. Fred is also survived by his mother Marjorie, brother Ron, sister Shirley PENNER and former wife Sharon THOMAS. In 1974, Fred was predeceased by his father, Charles Louis COLES. Over the past eleven years Fred worked tirelessly as the chair and cochair of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre Annual Charity Golf Classic and he would like to thank all of the dedicated staff and doctors at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for their commitment and devotion. Fred also made significant efforts towards the Save The Family Foundation of Arizona over the past five years. The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for their care and compassion over the past eleven years. RUMBALL, Doris Elizabeth, B.Sc.N.
Doris was a dedicated nursing teacher and professional, initially of Hamilton General Hospital and subsequently Mohawk College School of Nursing. Over the course of Doris' life and career she inspired many others through her cheerful dedication and deep generosity. She worked tirelessly for many years at First-Pilgrim United Church, where she also developed lifelong Friendships which were very important to her. Doris was also an award-winning gardener, and deeply loved and cared for birds and all of nature. A loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Doris' sweet smile and quick wit remained to the end, and will be missed by many. Doris was born January 7th, 1924, and died March 3rd, 2008, aged 84. Daughter of the late Alvira (née COLGAN) and Carl RUMBALL, of Hamilton and earlier Brantford. Much loved sister of John K. RUMBALL (deceased) and of sister-in-law Daphne A. RUMBALL (nee MILLER) of Ancaster, Ontario and now Victoria, British Columbia. Beloved aunt of the late Michael RUMBALL (Susan,) niece Jan (RUMBALL) GARNETT, and nephew Chris RUMBALL (Ruth) and their families, all now of British Columbia. Doris was also predeceased by her two very close Friends and nursing colleagues, Wilda PINKNEY and Barbara BROWN. Doris' family and Friends gratefully acknowledge the faithful love and late-life caring of two of her wonderful Friends, the Rev. Allison HAYNES and Mary Lou COLLETT, and are grateful for the gentle care that she received in her final years at Saint_Joseph's Villa, Dundas.
