Peacefully and surrounded by family, in his 72nd year, Ralph BLAAUW passed away at Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 after a brief but courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Born August 5th, 1935 in Groningen, Holland. Cherished husband and best friend of Donalda (née ALLARD) for 45 years. Beloved father of John and Jennifer (née MILLIKEN.) Dear grandfather of Samantha and Lucas. Ralph is predeceased by his parents Jannes and Jantje and his brother Jan. Survived by his brother Henk and sisters Geesje and Dinie. Also sadly missed by all of his brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Ralph the Barber will be fondly remembered by all his customers of the past 49 years. Special thanks to those who provided so much support during his battle. We would also like to thank the staff of Critical Care Trauma Centre for their care and compassion. Passed away at Grey Gables, Markdale on Saturday February 23, 2008, Frances Theresa HALEY of Markdale in her 71st year. Daughter of the late Wilbert and Elizabeth HALEY (McGRATH.) Loving sister of Bernard HALEY (Pat) of North York, Elizabeth CHITTENDEN (Chuck) of Richmond Hill and Bernice CHITTENDEN (late Bruce) of Markdale. Sadly missed and loved by her nieces, nephews, extended family and Friends. The family received Friends at the May Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon and evening, where Vigil Prayers were held at 9 o'clock in the evening. Father Leszek SZCZYGIEL officiated at a Mass of Christian Burial held at Saint_Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Markdale on Wednesday February 27 at 11: 30 a.m. Altar servers were Bradley BLACK, Daniel,▼ Sebastian and Simon GALLAGHER. Music for the mass was provided by the Black family and included the hymns "Prayer of St. Frances", "Queen of The Heavens", "Come Follow Me" and "Lord of The Dance". Annette, Kristen and Danielle CHITTENDEN provided readings. Timothy INSLEY, Paul MacMILLAN, Patrick, Michael, Brian and Chad CHITTENDEN served as pall bearers Daniel and Francine CHITTENDEN served as honorary pall bearers. Following the mass, Friends and relatives joined the family at Annesley Fellowship Hall for a time of sharing memories, along with musical accompaniment on the violin and piano by the Black family. A delicious luncheon was served by the Catholic Women's League. Spring interment in Saint_John's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Glenelg Centre. Memorial donations were directed to Grey Gables Resident's Council and the Arthritis Society.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Margaret "Peggy" DAVIES (née CAHILL,) in her 85th year. Peggy passed peacefully in the loving arms of her husband, John Marshall DAVIES on Saturday, March 15th, 2008. Peggy was born in Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland on December 7th, 1923. "It's a long way to Tipperary" but Peggy was surrounded by her loving family from Halifax, Nova Scotia to various locations throughout Ontario. She is survived by her children, who brought her great joy: Patricia BLACKMAN (Jim), Ann DAVIES, Marguerite AZIZ (Robert), Shaun DAVIES (Nicole), James DAVIES (Jennifer,) Rosalind SWEENEY (Michael.) FORSYTH, Peter▼ Allan,▼ M.A., Ph.D., F.R.S.A., F.C.A.S.I., F.I.A.G., F.R.S.C., Professor Emeritus, University of Western Ontario
Passed away in his 87th year. Survived by his wife Lucille, daughter Leslie BLACK and her husband Bob of Edmonton, his son Peter and his wife Margaret of Waterloo. Also missed by his grand_sons Peter and Scott. Peter was born in 1922 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan., attended the Royal Military College, the University of Saskatchewan and McGill. During World War 2 he served overseas as an officer in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve, on loan to the British Fleet Air Arm. After the war, he worked for the Defence Research Board where he became Superintendent of the Radio Physics Lab. He was a professor at the University of Saskatchewan and came to the University of Western Ontario as head of the Physics Department. Later, he was Director of the Centre for Radio Science at University of Western Ontario and Director of the Space Science Co-ordination Office, National Research Council, Ottawa. He considered himself fortunate to have participated in the launching of the Canadian Space Science Program and to have spent more than thirty years involved in international space activities. During his retirement, Peter and Lucille spent many happy years at their converted schoolhouse near Londesboro, where he pursued a lifetime interest in sculpting in his hobby barn. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family one hour prior (1: 00-2:00 pm) to a memorial service being conducted in the chapel of the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, on Tuesday May 27th, 2008 at 2: 00 p.m. with Reverend Michael STOL officiating. Only son of Edward and Allie (EDGAR) HIGGINS, passed away at his home in the arms of his wife on June 20th, 2008. Beloved husband of Anelda (BLACK) HIGGINS for 52 years. Loving father of Lori-Ann (Philip) McNALLY and infant daughter Lee-Ann HIGGINS (1960). He dearly loved his grandchildren Marty, Kristy-Ann and Kyle McNALLY as well as precious little great-grand_son Brock Bruce McNALLY. Bruce is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Helena and Keith DAWSON, Leona LEBLANC and Gail and Eldon BLACK. Predeceased▼ by his brother in-law Gerald BLACK. Bruce is also remembered by his long time friend and business partner Kenneth MORGAN (Morgan and Higgins Fuels.) Also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his loving sister Susan CHOLOD, his brother-in-law and friend, Murray, his niece and nephew Julia and Erik CHOLOD and his half brother Richard CARTWRIGHT. Stephen was predeceased by his mother Shirley CARTWRIGHT. Stephen was blessed with many wonderful Friends and colleagues who will miss him greatly.

Professor Emeritus, University of Western Ontario has passed away in his 87th year. Survived by his wife Lucille, daughter Leslie BLACK and her husband Bob of Edmonton, his son Peter and his wife Margaret of Waterloo. Also missed by his grand_sons Peter and Scott. Peter was born in 1922 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, attended the Royal Military College, the University of Saskatchewan and McGill. During World War 2 he served overseas as an officer in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve, on loan to the British Fleet Air Arm. After the war, he worked for the Defence Research Board where he became Superintendent of the Radio Physics Lab. He was a professor at the University of Saskatchewan and came to the University of Western Ontario as head of the Physics Department. Later, he was Director of the Centre for Radio Science at University of Western Ontario and Director of the Space Science Co-ordination Office, National Research Council, Ottawa. He considered himself fortunate to have participated in the launching of the Canadian Space Science Program and to have spent more than thirty years involved in international space activities. During his retirement, Peter and Lucille spent many happy years at their converted schoolhouse near Londesboro, where he pursued a lifetime interest in sculpting in his hobby barn. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family one hour prior (1: 00-2:00 pm) to a memorial service being conducted in the chapel of the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, on Tuesday May 27th, 2008 at 2: 00 p.m. with Reverend Michael STOL officiating. Passed away at Princess Gardens Retirement Home, Peterborough, on Thursday, June 12, 2008. Margaret HENWOOD of Peterborough in her 95th year. Wife of the late Edwin James HENWOOD. Margaret will be sadly missed by children Derek (Cheryl) and Robert (Judy). Also missed by 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and brother Lorne BLACK. Predeceased▲ by her parents Alexiena and Alexander BLACK, sisters Violet BLACK, Pearl COPELAND and grand_son Shawn. A private family interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Lakefield. Died surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 15, 2008. Paul BLACK, devoted and loving husband of Joyce (née FOSTNER.) Loving father of Gregory (Linda), John (Amanda), the late Raymund, Paul (Sheelagh), Stephanie (Gordon HYNDFORD), Catherine (Andrew JOHNSTON.) Beloved grandfather of Devin, Alec, Justin, Samantha, Jane, Emma, and Cheyenne. Dear brother of Peter (Elsie). Predeceased by parents John and Violet BLACK. Greatly respected by his peers and many Friends, he will be remembered as a consummate gentleman who lived a life of honour, integrity, courage and deep love for his family.
Friends and family will be received at Lynett Funeral Home, 3299 Dundas St. West (one block east of Runnymede) Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 20, 2008, at 11: 00 o'clock, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3055 Bloor St. West (at Royal York). Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Military Institute, 426 University Ave. (on west side, between Dundas and Queen), Toronto.

In Victoria on July 10, 2008. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Vye PARMINTER, father of Martha (Paul HUTNER) and Elizabeth (Stephen CLARKE,) brother of Frances (Birdie) LOVE, Norman FERGUSON, and the late Jack FERGUSON.
Born at Castlefinn, County Donegal, Ireland on November 4, 1910. Emigrated as a child with his parents to New Westminster, British Columbia. Formerly with the Bank of Nova Scotia in New Westminster, Vancouver, Toronto, Stratford and Guelph. Captain in the Pay Corps at Camp Borden during World War 2.
Member of the Victoria Golf Club and a lifelong golfer who had his last hole-in-one at the age of ninety-three.
The family thanks the staff at Somerset House in Victoria, where James leaves many Friends, and the caring staff of the Orthopaedic Floor at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. At his request, there will be no memorial service.
He kept his head down and followed through.

Dear grandmother of Stephanie, William, Oliver, Jordan, and Luke. Predeceased by her sister Kathleen Sarah WARD (nee BLACK).
