Dear mother of Norma QUEE (Ken BUSTIN) of R.R.#2 Priceville and Audrey BENNIE of Guelph. Loving grandmother of Will of Montreal and Patrick of R.R.#2 Priceville. Will be sadly missed by her sister Violet ARNOLD of Malton. Predeceased by a son-in-law Doug BENNIE, a sister Frances LYONS, and brothers Sidney, Fred and Henry CRIPPS. Rested at the McMillan and Jack Funeral Home, Dundalk. Services were held in the chapel on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 1 p.m. Interment in Dundalk Cemetery. Dear grandmother of Jennifer and Jim BENNIE, Nicholas and Nathan VANDER GULIK. Also survived by her brother, James M. CHAPLOW (Kathryn.) Dear step-mother of Sheila and John TIERNEY, Paul and Lucille OKE, late Laura and Dan WELCH, Authur OKE. Several step grandchildren also survive. Grace graduated in 1950 from the School of Nursing at the Memorial Hospital in Saint Thomas and enjoyed many years in her profession. She retired from Four Counties Health Services, Newbury as Director of Nursing. She was a Life member of Saint Thomas Elgin General Hospital and Four Counties Health Services Auxiliary. ALTON, Frederick " Fred" George
Lifelong Markdale resident and respected community leader Frederick (Fred) George ALTON passed away on March 12, 2008 at the age of 78. Visitation was held on March 14 at the May Funeral Home in Markdale. Fred's humour and passion for life were celebrated on Saturday, March 15 at Annesley United Church in Markdale. Rev. Mark R. WAUGH officiated the funeral service. He remembered Fred as a loyal member of the congregation who had the ability to spread laughter throughout the church. David FRIES acted as the Director of Music. Eulogies were given by Fred's daughter Mary Anne, his grandchildren Jackie BURNS, Gracie ALTON, and Sam McKEE, as well as his longtime friend and fellow Rotarian Jerry BARTLEY. Pallbearers were Stan BAKER, Jerry BARTLEY, Carl BENNINGER, Oscar BURNSIDE, Ernie NICHOLLS and Don PLETSCH as well as honourary pallbearers Paul HANERBACH, Erling PEDERSEN and Lloyd SEWELL. Grandchildren Gracie ALTON, Jackie BURNS, Anthony DURKACZ and Sam McKEE acted as flower bearers. Interment followed at Markdale Cemetery. Family and Friends shared their memories of Fred and enjoyed refreshments served by the Annesley Women's Ministry Network in the Annesley Fellowship Hall. Fred was the longest-serving member of the Markdale Rotary Club (49 years) and owned and operated Alton Pontiac Buick for 36 years before retiring in 1998. Fred acted as volunteer firefighter and fire chief for the Markdale Fire Department and attended every Markdale Street Frolic since 1938. Fred was married to his beloved wife Glenora McGEE for 55 years. He was the loving father of Mary Anne ALTON and Andy McKEE of Owen Sound, Glenn and Donna ALTON of Florida and Robert ALTON of Owen Sound. He was a special grandfather of Jackie BURNS and her husband Anthony DURKACZ, Sam McKEE and Gracie ALTON and great-grandfather of Nate DURKACZ. He was predeceased by parents Cecil ALTON and Annie STAPLES, brother Cecil (Sandy) ALTON and sisters Florence PORTER and Ruth BURNSIDE. Donations were made to the Centre Grey Health Services Foundation and Annesley United Church Memorial Fund.

"Truly I say, today you will be with me in paradise." (Luke 23: 39-43).
On Good Friday, March 21, 2008, Rose BENNINGHOFF went to that promised paradise to be with our Lord Jesus and her beloved husband of over 45 years, Benny BENNINGHOFF. Born in England, Rose and Benny came to Canada in 1952 where they spent their married life. They are now together forever. Missed by many, Rose will be forever remembered as a loving "Mum", loving and devoted wife and "The World's Greatest Grandma!" A caregiver to so many, she gave of herself unselfishly to all in need. Rose was an avid gardener, with beautiful gardens that spoke to all who passed her home. She worked for Shaw's Bakery for 17 years and knew every customer in a loving way. Cookies and doughnuts always found their way into little children's hands. Rose had an unbelievable talent for knitting and crocheting, creating hats, mitts, and baby sets for numerous years for the Guardian Angels, and so many beautiful treasures for her family and Friends. Anyone whoever stopped by the house would always find her with knitting needles in hand. Rose was also an accomplished pianist who also loved to play the organ. On many occasions she could be heard enjoying her music at either instrument. A lifetime of devotion to family leaves behind so many beautiful cherished memories as only Rose could fashion. We love you "Mum", and we will miss you with all our hearts, but we know we'll meet again in that promised paradise. Too well loved to ever be forgotten by her son Paul, his wife Cindy and their son John (her special baby). Also survived by many wonderful and loving family members in England. A memorial service to celebrate Rose's life will be held for family and Friends on Wednesday, March 26th at 1: 00 p.m. at Port Stanley United Church. Flowers gratefully declined. Born in Rodney, son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (LAIRD) DEGRAW. Beloved husband of the late Lena (BENO) DEGRAW (2003) Brother of the late Flossie GILLON, Teresa HANSEN, Clarence, Mac, Roy, Jim, and Allen DEGRAW. Survived by his sister-in-law Elva DEGRAW of Dutton. He is also survived by a son Lloyd, daughter Dorothy, and many nieces and nephews. Duncan farmed until his retirement in 1969. He was a member of Blenheim Baptist Church where he had served as an Usher and as a Trustee for many years. He was also involved with the Blenheim Senior's Centre, and the Blenheim Men's Senior Bowling League. It is with sadness that we announce the death of a loving husband, father and grandfather. William died in Burlington on February 7, 2008 at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Teresa and his children Sean and Jan HOURIGAN, Michele and Joe AGOSTINO, Denyse and Doug SERRE, AnneMarie and Geoffrey SHAW, Lisa and Blake PAPSIN, Kelly HOURIGAN, Danielle HOURIGAN, William and Mairi HOURIGAN, and Jacqueline HOURIGAN and Andrew FENTON. Left to remember him are the pride of his life, his grandchildren, Rénee, Greg, Carly, Katie and Jason, Ashley, Dan and Tim, Brack and Tanner, Brooke, Cullen, Brigid, Emily and Isaac, Jeremy and Maddison, Abby and Jack and Spencer. Also left to mourn are his brother-in-law John BENOIT and his sisters-in-law Rose BENOIT, Mary HOURIGAN and Barb HOURIGAN. He was predeceased by his son Danny (1963) and his granddaughter, Alexandra (1994), as well as, his brothers Gerald, James, Joseph and Jack and his sister, Marion COLLEY. Bill was born in Hamilton in 1925 the son of William and Emily Cullen HOURIGAN. He attended Cathedral High School and upon graduation served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada, England and Germany from 1943-1946. On his return from the Air Force, he entered Saint Michael's College, University of Toronto, graduating in 1948. In 1951, he received his LLB from Osgoode Hall, was appointed Q.C. in 1961 and practiced law in Burlington. He served as Councillor and as Reeve for the Town of Burlington and was a founding Board Member of Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital and the Burlington Braves Football Club. Bill also served for a number of years on the Halton Regional Police Commission and was a member of the Burlington Rotary Club. Later moving to Beach O'Pines in Grand Bend, he worked in real estate, as well as being a lay minister at Saint_John's By-The-Lake Anglican Church. Music was always a big part of John's life, celebrated with many celebrities in his home. BENSON, Robert (September 22, 1934-December 30, 2007)
Robert surprised us all by dying quietly while enjoying a pre-dinner nap on Sunday, December 30. His health had been compromised in several ways during the last few years, and happily he is now free of any and all related concerns. Born and educated in the U.S.A., Robert left his indelible mark as an actor on theatre stages there and in his adopted Canada, most notably at the Stratford and Shaw Festivals. He is survived by his partner of 23 years, Roger PERKINS of Niagara-on-the-Lake, American cousins Kate McCloy BENSON and Peter BENSON, and Friends and colleagues from near and far. Cremation has taken place, as was his wish. A Celebration of the Life of Robert BENSON will be held on Monday, March 10, at 7: 30 p.m., at the Royal George Theatre in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and all are invited to attend. Passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on Tuesday, April 29, 2008. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Marion (Robert) of Calgary and by her nieces, Carol HALL of Calgary, Wendy (Bob) BENSON of Calgary and Kelly (Michael) CLARKE of Toronto great-nieces and nephews, Dionne LORENZ, David (Nikki) BENSON, Paul and Katie CLARKE and great-greatnieces and nephews, Connor, Willow and Colby LORENZ, Kayla and Reagan BENSON as well as other relatives in Canada and abroad. She was predeceased by her parents, Amy and Robert HALL; brothers, Robert and John HALL and nephew Robert HALL. Margaret spent her early years in Winnipeg, but the family relocated to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1933, when her father Robert HALL Sr. became a manager with Eatons Department store. During World War 2, Margaret worked for the Royal Canadian Air Force for over three years in Saskatoon. She joined Canada Department of External Affairs, serving in Ottawa, London and Canberra. Margaret worked in Canada House in Trafalgar Square and in Human Resources in the private sector after leaving public service. She was the past President of the Calgary Woman's Canadian Club. Margaret enjoyed walking, painting, gardening, swimming and in earlier years, climbing. The family extends a special acknowledgement to Wayne Neal, Dale and Barbara McLaren and family, Iqbal Rahman, Donna Neufeld and Susan and Rob Way. Margaret truly valued their Friendship and support throughout her life.
