McLAUGHLIN, Kathleen Agnes Mudge "Kay"
Died February 24, 2008. She was 92. After a long life, well-lived, our Mother was and always will be loved for her joy, her inspiration, her faith, her relentless optimism and her unconditional love. Her darling Maurice, our Father, died in 1985. Since that time, she depended on and cherished her five daughters, one son and their families: Anne Kathleen McLAUGHLIN (GSIC,) Mary McLAUGHLIN, Margaret McLAUGHLIN, Patricia▲ McLAUGHLIN and her children Matthew and Kate VAUTHIER, Kathy▲ FRAUMENI and her husband John and their children, Colleen and her husband Karl, Mary Kate, Christopher and John Paul, and Ted McLAUGHLIN and his wife Wendy▲ and their children, Tara, Jim and Sean. She will be loved and missed by her New Brunswick family including her brother Vincent and her sister Madelon. Our Aunt Helen BROWN, Mom's▲ dearest eldest sister died in 2004. Their children and grandchildren will miss and mourn their Aunt Kay. Mom attended Normal School in New Brunswick. Soon after, she married Maurice, in 1940. His work took him from New Brunswick to several cities in Ontario, finally to London in 1967 where Mom returned to teaching, having raised her six children. Mom taught in a number of elementary Catholic schools in London. She treasured her students, many of whom continued to visit her after she retired. Her love of children and their education led her to become a Trustee of the London Catholic School Board where she served three terms. Throughout her life she demonstrated leadership whenever and wherever she became involved. At various times and places she served as President of the Catholic Women's League, the Rotary Anns and the Parent-Teacher Association. In her latter years she was the Southwestern Ontario scribe for the International Harvester Retirees Newsletter, a labour of love she continued until age 90. She will be remembered by her Friends as a woman full of laughter who was unstoppable at a Bridge game, never without an opinion, always armed with a good story, and famous for her hats. Friends will be welcomed by the family at Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street, at King Street, London, on Tuesday February 26 from 2-4 and 7-9. Father Michael BECHARD will celebrate a funeral Mass of thanksgiving for our Mother's life at The Chapel, Windermere on the Mount, Richmond Street North at Windermere, on Wednesday, February 27, at 1pm., followed by interment at Saint Peter's Cemetery. Donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society where our father volunteered for many years, would be appreciated.

Passed away peacefully, February 28, 2008 at London Health Sciences Centre-University Hospital with her daughter Penny at her side. A strong will, tenacity and quick wit served her well into her 96th year. Loving mother of the late Gerry STILSON (Loretta,) Jim STILSON (late Joan), Marni ROGERS (Frank), Penny McGREGOR (Ron,) and Liz BECHARD. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Ted (Tanya), Ken, Leanne (Bill), Kelly (Scott), Patti (Ian), Debbie (Andrew), Jim (Kathy), Mary (Steve), John (Janet), Charlie, Andy (Dawn), Laura, Amy (Matt), and Anne Marie (John). Proud great-grandmother of Dylan, Mathew, Brittany, Michael, Gerri, Jessica, Sean, Amy, Aaron, Chelsea, Zhoe, Jenna, Celeste, Seth, Emily, Sarah, Sydney and Danielle and great-great-grandmother of Sitara. Of Saint Thomas passed away on Saturday, March 29th, 2008, at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of the late Pauline COMRIE (1984) and dear father of Georgina GIBSON of Alberta, Elaine COMRIE of Saint Thomas, and Elizabeth COMRIE of Edmonton. Dear brother of Georgina BECHARD and the late Ruby COMRIE and Lorna PEEG. Sadly missed by 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, Shawn and Krystal. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Robert was born in London on June 25th, 1926 the son of the late Robert and Margaret (STEWARD/STEWART/STUART) SCOTT. He retired in 1965 from the Canadian Armed Forces (Stationed in Halifax), where he served from 1943-1965. Robert worked for a number of years with the Gould Manufacturing Co., and Corp. of Commissionaires at Westminster Hospital. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #41 Saint Thomas. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas, where funeral service will take place on Tuesday, at 11: 00 a.m. Cremation to follow with interment of ashes in Holy Angels' Cemetery. Died peacefully at her residence at London, Ontario, May 6, 2008, after a decade-long courageous and tenacious fight against breast cancer. Jane was the dearly beloved daughter of the late A. Dixon and the late Janet Allan Nelson ACRES, and deeply devoted sister to Bill. Hers is eternal peace with her Lord. Jane is survived by a huge number of family and Friends. She was a source of inspiration and delight to all who knew her, as hers was a character impossible not to love. The Bridge By Leopold Staff I didn't believe, standing on the bank, of a river which was wide and swift, that I would cross that bridge. Plaited from thin fragile reeds fastened with baste, I walked delicately as a butterfly and heavily as an elephant, I walked surely as a dancer and waivered like a blind man. I didn't believe I would cross that bridge, and now that I am standing on the other side, I don't believe I crossed it. Miss you forever, love you for always. MERIFIELD, Helen Margaret (née KYDD) (1917-2008)
It is with sadness that we announce Helen passed away peacefully on February 11th. Beloved wife of 61 years to the late Russell Roy MERIFIELD. Cherished mother of Russell, Elizabeth (Dario GALINDO) and Thomas (Linda.) Proud grandmother of Marion and step-grand_son, Simon. Loving sister of Elizabeth SHARPE and the late Sam KYDD, and sister-in-law to Doctor Jeanne BECK. Helen was born on July 26, 1917 in Campbellford, Ontario and attended schools in Orillia, Port Colborne and Ottawa before entering McGill University, where she graduated with a B.A. and High School Teaching Diploma in 1939. At McGill, she was President of her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, and was President of the McGill Glee Club. She taught at Montreal West High School during World War 2, before retiring to become a mother and full time homemaker. In Montreal, her altruistic activities included Town of Mount Royal Presbyterian Church, University Settlement, Montreal Rehabilitation Institute and Royal Victoria Hospital. Moving with her husband to Toronto in 1967, she became an active member of Glenview Presbyterian Church, Goodwill Industries and the North York University Women's Club. Her gracious, friendly manner endeared her to all who met her, and she fitted easily into associations with persons in all walks of life. An eternal optimist, she saw the best in every situation and was seldom disappointed. Friends may call at the Trull 'North Toronto' Funeral Home, 2704 Yonge St. (5 blocks south of Lawrence) on Thursday, February 14th from 2: 00 p.m. to 4: 00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Glenview Presbyterian Church, 1 Glenview Avenue (3 blocks south of Lawrence, west of Yonge) on Friday, February 15th at 11: 00 a.m. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband near their summer home in Magog, Quebec. Paul REYNOLDS (b. 1926) died peacefully, 4 March 2008. In 1945, he took over a small family business and over the next 50 years built this into a highly successful mechanical contracting company (Reynolds Bros. Mechanical, later Doughty and Darling). Paul married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley WILKINS; they raised four children and shared wonderful times at Craigleith Ski Club and the cottage at Dudley Bay, Bala. Pleasure in retirement was cut short by Shirley's sudden death in 1994. Paul's subsequent marriage to Flora HENRY greatly enlivened his later years with shared travel and skiing adventures. Paul was a brother to Bill (d. 2007), Bud, and Patricia. His children, Carolynne BERRY (Reginald,▼) Lynda MONTIS (Phil,▼) John▼ and Steven, will miss him profoundly. He lived to see six grandchildren (Andrea (Rob BECK,) Christine,▼ Jenny and Laura MONTIS, Anthea▼ and Aidan BERRY) and two great-grandchildren (Hardin and Wesley BECK.) MORRISON, Marguerite Frances (née MILLER) (1924-2008)
On Monday June 2, 2008 at Saint Michael's Hospital in Toronto. Wife of the late Paul Joseph MORRISON (1972,) loving mother who will be dearly missed by her sons Ross (Gayle), Paul (Janet), Claude (Victor), her daughter Marg Anne, her grandchildren Drew and Brendan, and last but not least Snoozer, her faithful canine companion. She was in the warm embrace of her family when the moment came to leave, peacefully and comfortably. Predeceased by her siblings Mary, Bill and John, she is also survived by her brother Fred (Anne-Marie,) and her sister Emily BECK (Ralph,) and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Marguerite graduated from Saint Michael's nursing program and was on the staff there for over thirty years, specializing in orthopaedics. She gave birth to all her children there, so she felt at home, in familiar surroundings. A former President of the Sinawik Club of Toronto (Kiwanis), Marguerite was also a talented artist, and an avid bowler and curler at the Granite Club for many years, and she had a smile that could light up a room. But her primary focus was her children. She was our mother first, last and always. Special thanks to Lisa Nonan for her constant support, and to the caring and sensitive staff at Saint Michael's Hospital. BURGESS, Reverend Harold N., B.A., B.Div. (1915-2008)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on July 20, in hospital, of a very special man who met all of life's challenges in a positive way. He was a caring husband, father and grandfather who gave generously of his time and energy. In his ministry, he contributed greatly to society as he counselled, encouraged and comforted his parishioners. Harold played a pivotal role in the establishment of blood donor clinics in Ontario in the early '50s. He quickly became a regular blood donor himself and encouraged others to donate too. He was a pioneer in religious radio and television. In later years, he served on the religious advisory board at CTV. He will join his beloved wife of 61 years, V. Gwendolyn (2003, née BECKEL) and leaves behind his loving daughters, Joan VAN HOUTEN and Elizabeth SCHUERMANN and her husband John. Harold was a proud and cherished Grandpa to Kirsten VAN HOUTEN and Kristofor SCHUERMANN and his wife Elaine. He leaves his brothers Gordon (Laurel) and Doug. He is predeceased by his sister Kathryn. Harold was born in Giles, Ontario. He served the United Church for 44 years, with charges in Cressy, Oak Lake (Man.), Thomasburg, Athens (Ont.), Cornwall, Toronto and Etobicoke. Harold had a great wit and sense of humour. He spent many happy hours on curling rinks and golf courses. He thoroughly enjoyed performing marriage ceremonies and did so until the age of 92, first in his churches and then in the chapel at Mississauga City Hall. Harold was an avid reader, preferring a good mystery above all else. He will be greatly missed. Friends may call at the Turner and Porter 'Peel' Chapel 2, 180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga (Hwy 10 North of Queen Elizabeth Way) from 12 noon until the time of the service at 1 o'clock on Friday July 25, 2008. William John GLASSER, beloved husband of the former Melva HOLLAND of Neustadt, passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Walkerton on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at the age of 89 years.
He is survived by a brother, Helmuth GLASSER of Neustadt, brother- and sisters-in-law Isobel and Harvey HOLLAND of Hanover, Florence GLASSER of Neustadt and Gertie ZIMMERMAN of Hanover. Also a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and Friends. Predeceased by two sisters, Edna WALTER and Marjorie MEPHAM, and two brothers, Leon and Norman GLASSER.
Friends were received at the Garrett Funeral Chapel in Neustadt until the morning of Friday, January 18, 2008 then to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Neustadt for funeral services at 11: 00 a.m. Interment Hanover Cemetery. Reverend David WUNDERLICH officiated.

Gwen will be sadly missed by her son Wray and Wife Michelle of Sundridge and her daughter and best friend Patty MORIN and her husband John of Glencoe. Gwen was treasured by her grandchildren, Joe and Kaylee WYLLIE, Ariel LAUREL and Aaron LANAWAY.
