McAVOY, Mary Carmel (née CAVANAUGH)
Peacefully at Providence Care Centre, Kingston on Thursday, June 28, 2007 in her 104th year. Mary Carmel McAVOY, predeceased by her loving husband Doctor James Ross McAVOY (1987) and by her son Joseph (1957.) Loving mother of Margaret Mary MOONEY (the late Orville) of Brockville, Rev. Paul McAVOY of Kingston and Peter W. McAVOY (Di) of Ottawa. Dearly remembered by many nieces and nephews. The youngest child of nine and daughter of the late Peter CAVANAUGH and Euphemia DONEGAN, Carmel was raised in Perth on the basin where her father kept his boats, later moving to Smiths Falls with her family. Carmel worked in the Bank of Commerce and continued to do so in the Brockville area and it was there that she met her future husband Doctor J.R. McAVOY. The family will receive Friends at the Township Chapel of the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes, 435 Davis Drive (Centennial and Taylor Kidd Blvd.), Kingston, on Tuesday, July 3rd between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Days Road, Kingston on Wednesday, July 4th, 2007 at 11 a.m. Rite of Committal with prayers in Old St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Brockville, Ontario. No flowers please. Memorial donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Church or the U.H.K.F. (Providence Continuing Care Centre) would be appreciated by her family. In the care of Gordon F. BREWER, John " Jack" Bernard
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Jack BREWER on August 22nd at Saint Michael's Hospital in his 62nd year. son of Elizabeth McAVOY and Carl BREWER Sr., brother of Shirley (Howie), Roy, Frank (Anne) and Carl, uncle to Mark, Todd, Roy, Carla, Chris, Janet, Michael, Anna-Lisa, and Cathy. Born in Toronto, Jack went on to play professional hockey in Muskegon (Michigan), Austria and Norway. Well known owner and personality of the popular Chick n'Deli Restaurant. Generosity towards Friends and family will be greatly missed. A private gathering of family and Friends to celebrate Jack's life will take place on Mon. August 27th from 4 p.m. till… at the Chick n'Deli, 744 Mt. Pleasant Road. Special thanks to Kathleen BREWER, Marc and David RAMSDEN and the Coronary Care Unit at Saint Michael's Hospital for their outstanding care and support.
