Peacefully, on Sunday, June 3, 2007, at Grove Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus, in his 81st year. Loving husband to Frances for 56 years. Devoted and caring father to Robert, Kevin and the late David. Dear brother of Betty WASHER of Mississauga, James WASHER of Athens, and Geraldine BOOTH of Deep River. Loving son to the late Gladys and Thomas. He will be dearly missed by his nieces, nephews, family, Friends, colleagues and former students. Thomas graduated from The University of Toronto (University College) in 1950, and was involved in Education for 38 years with the Etobicoke School Board of Education as a teacher, vice-principal, principal and superintendent. Born September 8, 1940, passed away November 21, 2007 in her 68th year. Cherished wife of Thomas Alfred HICKEY. Loving mother of Thomas Andrew (Drew) HICKEY and his wife Deborah, Pamela Alice HICKEY, Peter Grant HICKEY and wife Wendy RINELLA. Loving grandmother of Jessica Louise HICKEY and Grant Andrew HICKEY. Survived by her dear mother Ruth Alexandria HEENAN and predeceased by her father Wilbrod (Wib) John HEENAN. Survived by her sister Heather Ruth HEENAN and brothers Peter Walter HEENAN and John Stuart HEENAN and their spouses and their children. Survived by her sister-in-law Mary Ann HICKEY and her children. Also, survived by uncles Stuart, Grant and Frank LESLIE. Our thanks go out to the exceptional team at McMaster Medical Centre 3ZN as well as a special thanks to Doctor P. WASI and the staff and nurses for their wonderful care and compassion. In keeping with Leslie's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place in Grove Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of Leslie's life on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 1: 00 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 23 Melville Street, Dundas. STONE, Carl Abraham
Passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on Saturday, October 13th, 2007 in his 84th year. Carl STONE, loving husband of Arlene. Carl was the proud and caring father of Janet and Doctor Stephen WASSERMAN, Nancy and Bobby COHEN, and Billy and Robin STONE. He got such gleeful enjoyment from his grandchildren and will be so missed and remembered by Daniel, Marni, Erin, Josh, Charlie, Harrison, and Casey. He was especially thankful for his caregiver Ana Szyjewicz, affectionately called Mrs. Asher. Carl was known for his humour, loyalty, legal prowess, love of language and unique, funny views on life and all its quirks, which he willingly shared with family and Friends. Nothing was more important to Carl than his family and he always took great pleasure in declaiming his feelings at family gatherings and special occasions. A man of simple needs and complex love, we celebrate his life and the wisdoms he shared with us. NEUMAN, Shirley (formerly SHAEN, née WASSERMAN)
On October 31, 2007 passed away peacefully after complications from a recent illness surrounded by her loving family. In addition to her wide and loving circle of Friends, Shirley will leave a painful void in the life of her husband, Mel NEUMAN, with whom she enjoyed the best 19 years of her life. The indescribable loss will also be felt by her two children, Michael SHAEN (Anita MacKEY) and Debbie SHAEN (David WALKER.) Shirley will also be dearly missed by Mel's children, Debbie BELLAN (Phil BELLAN,) Jody ADELMAN (David ADELMAN) and Ralph NEUMAN (Miriam NEUMAN). Shirley was also a much-loved grandmother. 'Bobbie' Shirley will be missed by her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Andrew, Emma, Rachel, Laura, Marnie, Jamey, Lane (Kate), Cara, Lauren, Ruel and Jenna. Anyone and everyone who knew Shirley were immediately captured by her infectious enthusiasm, energy and joy for life. These qualities will be missed by all. Her capacity for love, Friendship and compassion will endure forever. Cherished father of Al and his partner Rhonda KEESO and daughters Cailyn and Lauryn, of Collingwood Ken and his partner Jan CAMERON and daughter Lyric, and Rob, all of Wiarton. Dear brother of Ben (late Betty), and Susie (Stan ARROWSMITH,) both of Winnipeg; Agatha (Abe WOLFE,) of Tourond, Minnesota; and Mary (Don ANDERSON,) of Vancouver, British Columbia. Passed away with his loving family at his side, after a courageous struggle with cancer at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, Niagara Falls, on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the age of 47. Beloved husband of 14 years to Cheryl (PRIDDLE) WASYLUK. Cherished and devoted father of Michael, Ryan, Paige, Keeley and the late Hillary (1995). Loving son of Doreen and the late Morris WASYLUK and son-in-law of Lavern and Vera PRIDDLE. Dearly loved brother of Wayne WASYLUK and his wife Suzanne and special uncle to Stefanie and Jaclyn. Dear brother-in-law of Stephen PRIDDLE. Brian was an accomplished electrician by trade and he owned and operated BCW Electric. Most recently he had worked as a master electrician for Strabag Corporation on the Niagara hydro tunnel project. He was an active, faithful member of Bethany Community Church in St. Catharines and he was an avid sportsman and hockey player. ROSENBERG, Murray (August 17, 1917-September 10, 2007)
Murray, aged 90, passed away suddenly and peacefully at home. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Theresa, son Lewis and his wife Doctor Fran STEINBERG and son Ken and his wife Caryl MARCELLUS. Devoted Grandfather to Jason, Seth, Raffie, and Taya. He was predeceased by his daughters Cecil, and Roberta. He was still vital and active in the community and in the business he co-founded over 50 years ago, Apex Realty.
Murray was one of 6 children, born on a farm in Edenbridge, Saskatchewan and later moved to Brooksby, Saskatchewan. He graduated from Queens College with a degree in Business Administration. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939 and served 7 years including 2 years overseas. In 1946 he was honorably discharged as a Warrant Officer First Class and moved to Winnipeg. He joined with partner Bill GOLDBERG to found Apex Realty and developed many buildings in Winnipeg and was a Certified Property Manager.
Murray was past President of the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, one of the founders of the Winnipeg Jewish Foundation, past chairman of B'nai Brith Camp, past member of the Red Shield Board of the Salvation Army, and had a lifelong commitment to Israel and the Winnipeg community. He supported many charities including the Canadian Cancer Society, Salvation Army, Mary Mount and was a proud and active member of the Canadian Legion. His interests included politics, current events, literature and sports. Murray will be missed by his Friends, associates, and co-workers.
His funeral was held Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue and burial followed at the Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park. We thank the Royal Canadian Legion for attending and providing a Colour Guard and Last Post. We would also like to thank the Pallbearers: Jason ROSENBERG, Seth ROSENBERG, Bruce ROSENBERG, Matthew SEGAL, Bob SILVER, Neal NEP, Bill BURNETT and Lorne BELLAN and Honourary Pallbearers: Norman VICKAR, Harry VICKAR, Ike VICKAR, Bob WASYLUK, Lawson INGLIS, and Ernie DANZKER.
