At Errinrung Residence in Thornbury on Tuesday, June 12, 2007. Clara LONDRY, daughter of the late John and Harriett (TUCK) BOYCE, in her 91st year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Clarence LONDRY in 1971. Loved mother of Patricia and her husband Harvey DINSMORE of Kimberley, Joan and her husband Don ROSZMANN of Penetang, Shirley and her husband Terry MURPHY of Barry's Bay, and William “Bill” LONDRY and his wife Ruth of Red Lake. Sadly missed grandmother and great-grandmother of Dale and Gayle DINSMORE of Woodford and their children Curtis and Jordan, Todd and Donna DINSMORE of Hawkestone and their children Ayla, Jesse and Charlie, Colin and Sharon DINSMORE of Thornbury and their children Claire, Olivia and Cole, Kelly and Dustin SOULLIERE of Amherstberg and their children Nolan and Gavin, Kimberley Ann and Dave QUESNELLE of Penetang and their children Kylie and Matthew, Saundra and Doug COSANTINI of Oakville and their children Madison and Kayla, Richard MURPHY of Red Lake, Kristin MURPHY of Kitchener, Evan and Nichole LONDRY of London and their daughter Madelyn, and Eric and Joelle LONDRY of Revelstoke, British Columbia Predeceased by sisters Edith WILSON, Mabel CROFT, Beatrice McKEE, Florence TURVILLE, Mildred FISHER and Louise SLATER and by brothers Clarence, Calvin, Eddie, Lewis, Russell, Melville and George BOYCE and by Arthur, Cecil and Myrtle in infancy. Dear sister-in-law of Fred TURVILLE of Toronto and Ethel BOYCE of Eugenia and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. Family will receive Friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home, The Valley Chapel, 20 Alice Street East in Thornbury on Thursday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service officiated by Reverend Canon Ben BURRY will be conducted at St. George's Anglican Church in Clarksburg on Friday June 15 at 11: 00 a.m. with interment to follow at Thornbury-Clarksburg Union Cemetery. Passed away at the General and Marine Hospital, Collingwood on Tuesday, July 17, 2007. Dave SMITH of Wasaga Beach, In his 71st year. Beloved husband of Shirley (née TUCK.) Dear father of David (Kim) of Barrie, Sonya (Dave) of Collingwood, Christine (Mark) of Bright and Mark (Amy) of Nottawa. Loving grandfather of Paula, Sabrina, Bradley (B.J.), Ashlee, Karla, Kyle, Lucas, Graydon and Gavin and great-grandfather of Chantelle, Brooklyn and Julianna. Brother of Viola (Lorne) RANCE, Norma DICCECO, Doreen CARTER, Marjorie SLOANE and the late Thelma COLUMBUS, Audrey MAW and Edward SMITH. BRAILEY, Moira Joyce (July 18, 1919-June 3, 2007)
Died peacefully at West Park Long Term Care Centre. Joyce suffered for many years with a debilitating heart condition and osteoporosis. She always managed, however, to be cheerful and interested in all her family. Her husband, George died in 2003. Joyce leaves two daughters, Seonaid BRAILEY and Moira MacRAE (Garth.) She was a truly wonderful Nana to Justin MacRAE, Krista BRAILEY, Gail MacRAE (Allan LAURENT), and Heather MacRAE (Chris O'CONNOR). Joyce had a very special relationship with her great-granddaughter, Jordan TUCKER- MacRAE and great-grandchildren, Sam and Leigha BRETT, Haley MacRAE, Finlay and Emma O'CONNOR and Philippe GIGUERE. Joyce was born in Scotland, the youngest of 5 girls. She had a degree in Art and always enjoyed costume design. She spent her career as a teacher and found her happiest and most memorable time at Bialik Hebrew Day School, where the students, staff and families became long standing Friends. Joyce lived at West Park Long Term Care Centre for her last 5 years. She and her family appreciated the help and support provided by the dedicated staff, who treated her with kindness and dignity. In her 82nd year Ruth passed away at Sunrise Senior Living Home Saturday June 16th, 2007. Loving Aunt to Barbara and Kevin GIBSON of Peterborough, Nancy and Brian GUENTHER of Pickering and Donna and Kevin PLUMPTON of Kemptville. Great Aunt to Heather, Katie and Peter GIBSON, John and Cameron GUENTHER and Derek, Megan and Dylan PLUMPTON. Sister of the late Peter CHAPMAN. Sister-in-law to Beth (CHAPMAN) MURPHY. MacKINNON, Kenneth Joseph Chisholm, M.D., F.R.C.S.C.
Mahoney's Beach, Antigonish County, died peacefully at age 86 on October 8, 2007 surrounded by his family at Saint Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, of prostate cancer. A man of deep faith, humility, compassion and intellectual curiosity, he touched and changed many lives. His many interests included fly-fishing, gardening, meditation and his property at Mahoney's Beach. Born in Antigonish in 1921, he was the son of Doctor William Francis and Mary (CHISHOLM) MacKINNON. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier University and Dalhousie Medical School. After his marriage to Ann Frances MEECH in 1945, he practiced medicine with his father in Antigonish and his father-in-law Doctor Lloyd MEECH in North Sydney before moving to Montreal. They resided there for over 30 years where they raised their nine children. He is survived by his second wife Beryl MacINTOSH; children: Sheilagh (William HUDON), Southside Harbour, Nova Scotia and Denver, Colorado Jo Ann (Chris MURPHY), Halifax; Doctor David (Geraldine), Tappan, New York; Mairi (Sasha MANACAS), Montreal; Doctor Susan (Bruce TUCKER), Highland Park, New Jersey; Kenneth (Laura SANTINI), Montreal Dr. Laura (George CAWKWELL), Kingston, Ontario; Kathryn (John METCALF,) Halifax; daughter-in-law Diane, St. Andrew's, Nova Scotia. He is also survived by his sisters Maureen MacGILLIVRAY and Patricia MacNEIL and brother Rev. Gregory MacKINNON of Antigonish 24 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Ann, son Wm. Lloyd of St. Andrew's, Nova Scotia; 5 siblings, 2 in adulthood (brothers William and John of Antigonish.) Doctor MacKINNON received his postgraduate medical training at McGill University, joining the staff of the Royal Victoria Hospital and McGill University in 1953. He was appointed Urologist in Chief at the Royal Victoria Hospital in 1959 and Professor of Surgery and Chairman of the Division of Urology at McGill University in 1969. In his latter years at the Royal Victoria Hospital, he was Chairman of the Medical Board and Director of Professional Services. In 1958, he was a key member of the transplant team which performed one of the first successful kidney transplants in the world. He held visiting professorships at 13 medical centres in Canada, the U.S. and Israel. In 1979, he and Ann moved to Nairobi, Kenya where he was Executive Director of the Aga Khan Hospital. They returned to Nova Scotia in 1982 where he became Chief of Staff at the Halifax Infirmary and Adjunct Professor of Urology at Dalhousie University. H Eng established a Palliative Care Unit at the Halifax Infirmary. He and Ann moved to Antigonish and in semi-retirement, he directed the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Martha's Hospital and helped establish others around the province. Among many honours, Doctor MacKINNON was awarded Doctor of Laws by Dalhousie University and St. Francis Xavier University and received the Canadian Urological Association Achievement Award. He served as President of the Canadian Urological Association and the Canadian Academy of Urological Surgeons. He loved and lived life with passion. Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be in St. Ninian's Cathedral on Friday at 11: 00 a.m. Burial in the parish cemetery.
