It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen
Stanley SULEWSKI, on July 19, 2007. Born on February 2, 1930
in Toronto, raised on the family farm and attended high school
in Dunnville. Graduating from the Ryerson Institute of Technology
in May 1952, Steve immediately joined the Canadian Broadcasting
Corporation. In his own words, he was at the"right place at the
right time". He worked his way up through the ranks from camera
operator to the position of Manager, Technical Services for the
Toronto Region.
Steve is survived by the love of his life and best friend Elizabeth
Mary SULEWSKI (née
MacCORMACK) affectionately known as Mac. He
is very much loved by his children, Kevin (Marsha), Kathleen
(Michael), Susan (Brendon), and Silvy (Andrew). His grandchildren
Nicole, Michelle, Morgan, Tyler, Samantha, Zach, Jaid, Isabella
and Matthew loved him, his garage sale finds, his spirit of life,
his inspiration, and his meatballs. Friends will be received
at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. East (East of Kennedy
Rd) on Tuesday from 6: 00 to 9:00 p.m. A service will be held
on Wednesday at 11: 00 a.m. at St. Timothy's Anglican Church,
4125 Sheppard Ave. E. (east of Kennedy Rd.) In lieu of flowers,
donations to the Mount Sinai Hospital (Neonatal Intensive Care

Steve was a great husband, father, grandfather, builder, thinker,
conversationalist, fighter and a survivor. We will all miss his

Women's League. She was an avid reader and a member of Markland
Wood Country Club, and a past Captain of the ladies section.

Marion was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and graduated from the
University of Alberta in 1927 with a degree in math and chemistry.
She later completed her M.Sc. in chemistry at the University
of Washington. Marion taught secondary school mathematics for
many years in Sudbury, Ontario and Guelph, Ontario. She was a
long term active member of the University Women's Club, the Imperial
Order of the Daughters of the Empire and St. George's Church.
She was a devoted bridge player with several groups. She kept
current with the Globe crossword puzzle and enjoyed following
the stock market on her computer. Her love of the north was exemplified
by her annual trips for over 60 years to the family camp on Lake
Ramsay in Sudbury.
In keeping with her wishes, we will celebrate her 100th birthday
with an Open House at the Guelph Country Club on Thursday, August
30th at 2 p.m. Her many Friends are invited to join the family
in our celebration of her life. Cremation has taken place and
a private family service is planned. Donations to the charity

M.D. Gail attended Middlebury College and received her M.B.A.
(Finance) degree from McGill University. She was born in Long
Island, New York and resided all of her married life in Canada,
the last thirty-six years on Heath Street West in Toronto. She
was generous with those who were in need wherever they might
be in the world and she dedicated her life to the care of her
family. As a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, she worked
quietly and diligently to help bring the churches in her community
closer together through events like the Good Friday Walk. As
her children grew up, Gail developed a passion for the investment
business and economics. She became a stockbroker, then a teacher
(Investing for Women; Branksome Hall) and later took up writing
for newspapers in Montreal and Toronto, latterly becoming a free-lance
reporter for the Report on Business in the Globe and Mail. She
was passionate about her garden, flowers and plants. She adored
her pets, cats in early years (Johnny and Fluffy) and Labrador
Retrievers in later years (Anna, Lucy and Holly). She loved walking
with her dogs, and spending parts of her summers on Lake Huron
(Grand Bend) and Lake Simcoe (Shanty Bay). She was delighted
by the Opera Atelier and attending the theatre. She cherished
entertaining family and getting together with old Friends. Gail
was uncomplaining and encouraging to those around her as she
faced a difficult and debilitating challenge over the last months.
A private service was held for the immediate family after her
death and a celebration of her life will take place in October
(details of the arrangements for this event will appear in these
columns in late September/ early October). In lieu of flowers,
donations in Gail's memory for the general maintenance of the
G5 roof-top garden at the Toronto East General Hospital are welcome

paid tribute yesterday to slain Detective Constable Robert
PLUNKETT,
who was remembered at his funeral service as a dedicated family
man with a personal motto of: "Go big or go home."
Det. Constable
PLUNKETT, 43, a 22-year veteran of York Regional
Police, was killed last week when he was struck by a car while
attempting to make an arrest.
Officers in dress uniform were marshalled on a grass-covered
slope before marching into the complex in this city north of
Toronto, followed by a solemn stream of mourners.
The complex's 3,500 seats were filled, as was an overflow room.
Some 1,500 other mourners - many of them uniformed police officers
- listened to the ceremony from the parking lot in 30-degree
temperatures.

he said set the officer apart from others in his rookie year.

valued his ability to bring levity to a situation with a practical
joke, often at the expense of an unsuspecting supervisor.
He recalled how "Plunk" and a few accomplices were once caught
carrying a colleague's Austin Mini Cooper across a parking lot
on their way to hiding it in a corn field.
Glenn MacDONNELL, president of Special Olympics Ontario, said

PLUNKETT's love of sport - and his belief that
policing is more than just law and order - prompted the enthusiastic
officer to throw himself into organizing events for the group,
including acting as chair for the Special Olympic Spring Games
in 2000.

PLUNKETT received a number of accolades throughout
his career, including one in February, 1998, when he was recognized
for bravery in assisting in rescuing an elderly woman from the
freezing waters of Swan Lake in nearby Markham.
He is survived by his wife Sonja and three children, Amanda,
Matthew and Jeffrey.
The funeral comes one day after a charge against a suspect in
Det. Constable

from manslaughter to first-degree murder. Baseer

faces at least four lesser charges. Both suspects appeared in
a Newmarket courtroom yesterday and will return to court later

current Royal York Hotel. She started her career as a legal secretary,
then became a homemaker and later, general secretary. A feisty,
determined woman, she was a resident of Randolph Road (Leaside),
since 1943. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, August
18 at 1600 hours at Leaside United Church, 822 Millwood Road,
East York. Cremation has taken place, and her ashes will be entered
beside Bill's at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. If desired, memorial
donations may be made to Leaside United Church or the Alzheimer
Society.

and 'the Ex', to late night hamburgers, donuts and Night Sky Gazing-101,
he provided a dimension and substance that will never fade from
memory. 'Unc' sustained a unique presence in each person's life.
A natural master of mathematics and education, 'Mr.
SULLIVAN'
created a special bond with his many students at Sutton and Milton
District High Schools during his more than 35 years as a teacher.
His one-of-a-kind personality, colourful wardrobe and love of
hockey and its uniforms brought joy and laughter to his classroom.
John will be intensely missed by those whose lives he touched
and to whom he brought brilliant and unforgettable colour. Who
could forget: the man wearing the orange shirt walking from Orillia
to Toronto; the slideshows that chronicle the events of his life
his pictures of the great structures of the world; and his drawings
of his own personal army of paper hockey and football players.
John's passion was exploring his surroundings and sharing the
joy of his experiences with those he loved. John carved a special
path for himself through this world. He was irrepressible, and
is, irreplaceable. Friends may call at the Trull Funeral Home and
Cremation Centre, 2704 Yonge Street (5 blocks south of Lawrence),
on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church (Yonge Street,
south of Lawrence) on Thursday morning at 11 o'clock. Following
the Mass a reception will be held at the church. Internment Mount
