GOODERHAM, James Buchanan
Born April 26, 1917, James passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington on August 28, 2007 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Angelene (née BASILII) GOODERHAM and former husband of Margaret GOODERHAM. Loving father of Ann Elizabeth GOODERHAM- SAMAKESE (Joseph SAMAKESE) of Burlington, David Leys GOODERHAM (Kathryn) of Oakville and Sandra Gooderham TERRY (Stephen TERRY) of Whitby. Cherished grandfather of Holly-Ann and Joseph James GOODERHAM- SAMAKESE, Christopher and Mark GOODERHAM, Stuart Gooderham SMITH (Alexandra), Jennifer Smith SILLS (Chad SILLS) and great-grandfather of Ethan SMITH and Morgan, Braiden, Victoria, Brooklyn and Owen SILLS. son of the late John Leys GOODERHAM and Beryl Olive BUCHANAN, Jim is also predeceased by his brother Peter Buchanan GOODERHAM and his wife Mary, all of Toronto. He is also survived by his brothers- and sisters-in-law; Olvido BASILII (Lou), the late Lena BASILII, Domenic "Nick" BASILII (Verda), Rinaldo "Ron" BASILII (Jacqui), Jose DUMONT (Claude), Ida FITZPATRICK (the late John,) Gina SECA (Johnny) and Deno BASILLII. Jim also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Smith's Funeral Home, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), Burlington (905-632-3333) on Saturday, September 29, 2007 from 12 noon until time of the Service of Remembrance in the Chapel at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the charity of your choice. www.smithsfh.com

COOPER, Grant " Tim" Ashton
On Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007, in his 91st year. Loving husband of M. Isabel COOPER, father to Donald Ashton, Susan Ruth and Wendy Louise COOPER. Predeceased by sister Ruth SECCOMBE. Born in Toronto, December 3rd, 1916. Graduate of U.T.S. and the University of Toronto. He served overseas in World War 2 as a Captain in the Signal Corps of the Canadian Army. He had a distinguished career as a Professional Electrical Engineer with Ferranti Packard Ltd. His interest included astronomy (Past president of the Royal Astronomical Society of Ontario), portrait and landscape painting, classical music and canoeing in Algonquin Park. He was respected and loved for his wisdom and kindness and will be sorely missed by family and Friends. Friends may call at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles), on Saturday, October 27th, 2007 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 o'clock. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

FITZPATRICK, Joan Elizabeth (née COWIE)
Born in 1920, died peacefully on December 12th, 2007 at Mount Sinai Hospital of pulmonary fibrosis. She was the beloved wife of the late Honourable John James FITZPATRICK, Q.C. and will be greatly missed by her family and Friends.
Joan graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1939 at age nineteen, was an officer in Navy Intelligence in the Second World War, then married and moved to Toronto where she raised her family of eight children. Joan was an avid student throughout her life, especially interested in Chinese history and culture. She lead a group from the Royal Ontario Museum to China in 1975, joined the Board of the Royal Ontario Museum in 1995, and was honored as one of the 'Three Joans,' for her dedicated service to the Museum in 2005. Joan was curious, resourceful and undertook her projects with indomitable energy and determination. Later in her life, she became a volunteer and supporter of the Friends of Schizophrenia. She had a wonderful ability to look beyond her own problems and engage with Friends, ideas and the larger community.
She will be mourned and missed by her children, Kathleen (David SECCOMBE), John FITZPATRICK, Margaret Ann (Charles HANLY), Moira (Bob MacDONALD), Janet (Paul MORRISON), Sheila (Ed STEVENS), Jim (Suzanne Brown FITZPATRICK), Joan (Pim ROMCOLTHOFF), and by her twelve grandchildren, Will, Roger, Jenny, Kaeli, Michael, Drew, Brendan, Elizabeth, Katie, Patrick, Carl and Teija, to whom she was a loving and attentive grandmother
The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, December 15th. Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 78 Clifton Road at 10: 00 a.m. on Monday, December 17th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Schizophrenia Society Of Ontario, 130 Spadina Avenue, Suite #302, Toronto, M5V 2L4. LYNN, Gwen Margaret (1932-2007)
Passed away peacefully on June 4th, 2007 in Belleville. Gwen spent her last week in comfort visiting with family in her Belleville home. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who knew her: family, Friends and bridge colleagues. Gwen is survived by her children: Gord COLE and spouse Nicky DENNYS of Parry Sound, Steve COLE of Parry Sound, Cynthia COLE and spouse Gilles RIOUX of Ottawa. Her beloved grandchildren: Miranda COLE of Parry Sound and Mitchell RIOUX of Ottawa. Her siblings Douglass and Yvonne LYNN, Doreen SECKER, Marion LYNN, Carole ALLORE and Beverly NAVEAU. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Predeceased by parents Tom and Irene LYNN of Tweed and sister Shirley LYNN.
Gwen lived life to the fullest, as an adventure on her own path right to the end. She passed away at peace on her own terms after spending a good day at home with her loved ones. Her one regret was not seeing her grandchildren grow up.

In loving memory of Murray Myles PATTERSON, January 18, 1941 to January 17, 2007.
Myles was a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge, Gore Bay, and died at the Mindemoya Hospital on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the age of 65 years.
He was born in Burpee Township, son of the late John and Mary (CAMPBELL) PATTERSON.
Myles will be missed by family and Friends. Husband of Gail (BAILEY) PATTERSON. Loving and loved father of Jerry of Mills, Debbie (Rod) of Spring Bay, and Karen (Robert) of Gordon. Dear brother of Colin (MaryLou) of Providence Bay, Elaine (Morley) LANKTREE of Tara, Sylvia (Jack) CLARKE of Honora, Velda (Bob) SECORD of Little Current and Bev (Lorne) of Sudbury. Predeceased by brothers Lloyd (1929), Weldon (1936), Ken (1990), Marvin (2005) and sisters Leola (1939) and Lois (1945). Also survived by 8 grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place with a graveside service in the spring. Peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Wednesday December 26, 2007 at the age of 76. Loving husband of Jan (née SECORD) for 54 years. Proud and devoted father of Neil STEWARD/STEWART/STUART, Diane STEWARD/STEWART/STUART- ROSE (Robert), Doctor Laura STEWARD/STEWART/STUART- DAVIS (Michael), and Andrew STEWARD/STEWART/STUART (Assunta). Cherished grandfather (Bubba) of Jessie and Riley STEWARD/STEWART/STUART, Cameron and Stewart ROSE, Ian, Allison and Connor DAVIS, and Amanda and Kyle STEWARD/STEWART/STUART. Dear brother of Ann McFARLAND (Robert) of Colorado. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout Canada and the U.S. Donald spent the early years of his life in Montreal before settling with his young family in Toronto in the early 1960's. He was a graduate of the University of Toronto, a member of the Beekeepers Association of Ontario, a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal, and an elder of the United Church of Canada. Donald also traveled extensively and will be remembered for his love of Canada, all things Canadian, and his skill as a storyteller. A memorial service will be held at Kingsway Lambton United Church in Toronto at a later date. Special thanks to the staff of the Intensive care Unit of the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their care and support. FRANCIS, Captain Jefferson Clifford
On 04 July 2007, Captain Jefferson Clifford FRANCIS, 36, died while serving with the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan when his armored vehicle was destroyed by a large land mine. He will be greatly missed by his wife Sylvie SECOURS, son Ry Logan SECOURS- FRANCIS (8 months;) mother Marion MURRAY, father Russ FRANCIS, sister Mica FRANCIS and brother-in-law Aaron MacDONALD; aunts Marilyn MURRAY and husband Mike WILLIAMS of Cambridge Narrows, New Brunswick Melanie MURRAY and sons Damian and Gabriel of Kelowna, British Columbia; great-aunts Pearl CHARMAN and Florence WAUGH of Wallace and Malagash, Nova Scotia; grandfather Herbert FRANCIS, aunt Peggy FRANCIS, uncles Butch, Rocky and David FRANCIS of Chilliwack, British Columbia and many cousins; mother and father-in-law Diane and Gaetan SECOURS and brother-in-law Marc and nephew Dakota of Ottawa. Jeff obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication, a Masters of Arts in Canadian Studies, and was pursuing a PhD at Carleton University when he was drawn to the Army in 2001. He was a serious student of world and military history, pop culture, philosophy and art history. Jeff loved participating in sports and physical challenges, especially the Army Mountain Man Competition and martial arts, Jujitsu and Grappling. Jeff loved his wife, son and family preferring to spend vacations with them in the Maritimes. Jeff had many military and civilian Friends across Canada who will also miss him. His deep humanitarian beliefs inspired his commitment to provide the security needed to improve the lives of the people of Afghanistan. A trust fund in the name of Ry Logan Secours-Francis is being established with Scotiabank and contributions can be made at any Scotiabank Branch. Jeff was an Airborne Artillery Officer with 1 Royal Canadian Horse Artillery based at Canadian Forces Base Shilo. A private funeral with family and close Friends is planned.
