ALLEN, Raymond William
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond William ALLEN on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital at the age of 79. Ray was known to all as someone who loved great company and the festivities that went along with it. Never one to turn down a chance to share a drink and some laughs with family and Friends, he welcomed all who dropped by. Ray worked many years for Canada Packers and later for Quality Meat Packers as the Purchasing Manager. His various co-workers meant a lot to him and always spoke fondly of the relationships he formed over the years. As an avid boat lover, Ray spent many happy days tending to his various wooden Chris Craft cruisers and watching the goings on at the Marina. For someone who couldn't swim he always loved the water and dreamed of the next boat he might have. Apart from boats, cars were his next love. You never saw a bigger smile on his face then when he was looking at a freshly washed Cadillac parked in his driveway or cruising down the road. Although hampered by poor hearing, it never stopped him showing his quick wit and much love for his family and good Friends. He always very kind and ensured everyone was taken care of. After living in Etobicoke most of their lives, Ray and Jessie were residents of the Regency Retirement home in Port Credit for the past 5 years. Ray caught the eye of several of the staff, other residents, and people in the community. Ray greatly appreciated everyone's effort and Friendship. A life time of memories are treasured by his beloved Jessie, who was always by his side, his children and their spouses, Lorne and Regina ALLEN, Gord and Linda ALLEN, Trish and Allan KNIGHT. He will be missed by his six grandchildren, Kristen ALLEN, Jennifer SAINT_DENIS, Stephen ALLEN, Gord ALLEN, Jacqueline PEPPER, Cody KNIGHT and four great-grandchildren, Hayley PEPPER, Tricia ALLEN, Benjamin and Brandon SAINT_DENIS. A memorial service and gathering of family and Friends will be held on Sunday, November 25th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Port Credit Yacht Club, located at 115 Lakefront Promenade, Mississauga (E. of Cawthra) 905-278-5578. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.

SAINT_JACQUES, Margot (1913-2007)
Margot SAINT_JACQUES passed December 8, 2007 in Kensington Gardens, Toronto, in the presence of Friends. She was born in Austria on March 6, 1913 and would have been 95 on her next birthday. An extraordinary woman, who was fluent in 4 languages, German, French, Italian and English, Margot had lived in Europe, Africa and Canada, and throughout her life had traveled widely to India, Australia, Russia, Tibet, Mongolia, China, South America, Australia, Europe, and many other lands. Her last trip was to Tobago when she was 90 with a group from the Esther Myers Yoga Studio. Margot studied and practiced yoga for over 35 years, but never wanted to teach professionally. Occasionally she would teach a private student in her home. She was interested particularly in Iyengar yoga and in the yoga practice of Vanda Scaravelli whom she has met and studied with. Margot, along with several other participants including the actor Terence Stamp, was one of the subjects/models of a book, Yoga Over 50 by Mary Stewart. A learned and thoughtful person, Margot read deeply across many fields including, spirituality, eastern and western religions, medicine, travel, art, history and politics. In her life, she worked as a translator, and for several decades before she retired, in the book trade at the University of Toronto Press and Bookstore. She practiced Buddhist and vipassana meditation daily and frequently attended both the Hong Fa Temple (Buddhist Association of Canada) and Catholic services in her neighborhood. She was completely non-partisan. A person of great independence and a seeker, Margot showed much kindness and generosity to all those she met, especially young people. She leaves behind her many Friends all over the world who will never forget her. Thanks are extended to the wonderful care she received at Kensington Gardens Health Centre and for the arrangements of Bedford Morley Funeral Services. As per Margot's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial will be held for Margot SAINT_JACQUES on Sunday, January 20, 2008, 1: 30 p.m. at Esther Myers Yoga Studio, 390 Dupont Street, Toronto, Ontario M5R 1V9, 416-944-0838, or contact 519-534-1417.
