McLENNAN, John L. " Jock"
Jock passed away on the evening of December 20, 2007. His memory will be cherished by Helen, his wife of 61 years, by his daughter Marian and son-in-law Trygve John RINGEREIDE, his son Ian and partner M. Antoinette and by his niece Helen and extended family in Australia. Jock was born in Montreal on August 8, 1919, the only son of Guy S. McLENNAN, M.C. and Marjorie Fetherstonhaugh McLENNAN. He attended Selwyn House School in Montreal and Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario. During the Second World War Jock served with the Royal Highland Regiment The Black Watch, 1st Battalion, 5th Brigade, 2nd Division. He was wounded in Normandy in July 1944. The majority of Jock's working career was spent in various capacities with the Bank of Montreal, in Montreal. In 1971 he moved to Winnipeg as head of the Real Estate Department for the Prairie Region. In mid-life Jock's artistic sensibilities found expression at the potter's wheel. Many of his creations have given lasting pleasure to family and Friends. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred in the McLennan plot in Mount Royal Cemetery, Montreal. If desired, a donation in Jock's memory to the Salvation Army would honour his lifelong respect for an institution he felt served the Canadian Forces so admirably during the Second War. A gathering will take place at a later date to allow family and Friends an opportunity to celebrate Jock's dry wit and gentle spirit. Neil Bardal Inc. 204-949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca

RINK, Alex
In memory of Alex, father and grandfather, whom we honour on this day, the anniversary of his death, December 31, 1998.
Gone is the face we loved so dear,
Silent is the voice we loved to hear,
Too far away for sight or speech,
But not too far for thought to reach,
This day is remembered and quietly kept,
No words are needed...
We'll never forget.
- Love always, Tanja, Tex, Kory and Kayla.

KORTE, Johan Eljas Kalervo (April 8, 1924-January 3, 2007)
After making a valiant 3 month effort to recover from the effects of a raumatic ruptured aneurism, John passed gently into his own 'good night' on January 3rd. He is survived by his harem beloved wife and partner of 52 years Adele (VOGEL,) daughters Johanne (Richard GREGORY) of Vancouver, Nancie LEE, Lu (Susan KING) and Karen all of Ottawa and Heidi (Robert McKEE) of Toronto. Ever the proud grandfather, 'Grampuns' will be sorely missed by Ryan, Keli, Lian and Derek GREGORY, Makena, Hayden and Lake KORTE- MOORE, Quincy and Jesse KORTE- KING and Kayla and Kieran McKEE. Predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Helvi and Eino RINTA, father Paavo KORTE and brother Matti KORTE. Born in Finland and raised in Montreal, John developed a love for the Laurentians and the ski crowd that taught him early on how to 'let 'em run' a phrase he'd enthusiastically repeat many times to young and old in his ski-obsessed family. John spent 42 years working for Bell Canada forging a successful career that began on Baffin Island and ended with 5 fascinating years spent in Saudi Arabia, before retiring to Ottawa. He was one of those fortunate few who loved every minute of his working life and considered it enriched by the experiences and colleagues who coloured his journey. John was a man who read widely, entertained graciously and was humbly grateful for the gifts of Friendship and family that meant so much to him. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that you take the time to sit down with an old friend and share a story or two… remembering that the chances to do so pass us by all too soon. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (Ottawa), on Sunday, January 7th, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, January 8th, 2007 at 2: 30 p.m. Condolences may be sent to korte.nomad@gmail.com
