HARPER, Lois Marjorie
Age 77, of Agincourt, Ontario. On Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Centenary Hospital, Toronto. She was the daughter of the late Gordon HARPER and Laura Harper EDWORTHY. She will be sorely missed by her sister and brother-in-law Eleanor and Norman TAILOR/TAYLOR, her longtime friend and companion Elaine Conner, nieces Laurie LEADBETTER and Laurel PRYDE, nephews David TAILOR/TAYLOR, Norman and Brian SHORE and their families.
A graduate of McMaster University and University of British Columbia School of Library Science. Lois taught school in Hamilton and Scarborough an then became Assistant to the Co-ordinator of Learning Resources for the Scarborough Board of Education. As a teacher and librarian, she avidly promoted Canadian literature for which she was honoured at her retirement.
Lois served her church and community in various capacities, active in Knox Presbyterian Church, Agincourt as an elder and choir member. She also volunteered teaching English as a second language to new Canadians. As a member of the Markham-Stouffville Parkinson Support Group, she lead a campaign to update Parkinson material in public libraries in the Markham and Scarborough areas, She also gave generously to Parkinson Community Outreach projects and research.
Friends will be received at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. East, Agincourt (east of Kennedy Rd.), from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Knox Presbyterian Church, 4156 Sheppard Ave. East, Agincourt. Interment in Grove Cemetery, Dundas, Ontario at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Society of Canada or a preferred charity.

Suddenly at Sunnybrook Health Centre on Tuesday, July 23, 2007 in her 81st year. Beloved wife and best friend of 54 years of Dr. Robert B. MEIKLEJOHN. Loving mother of Catherine Jane (Robert MORRISON,) John Alexander MEIKLEJOHN (Wendy.) Cherished grandmother of Kevin and Brian MORRISON, and Courtney and Scott MEIKLEJOHN. Fondly remembered by her sister Margaret COOPER. Predeceased by her brother Robert PRYER (1971.) Visitation will be held at the Trull "North Toronto" Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 2704 Yonge Street (5 blocks south of Lawrence), on Thursday, July 26, 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church (24 Cheritan Avenue), on Friday, July 27 at 11 a.m. Burial to take place in the family plot in Harriston, Ontario at a later date.

At Errinrung Residence in Thornbury on Thursday August 23, 2007 at the age of 75. The former Norene SHOWELL, predeceased by her beloved husband Henry SALOMON (January 21, 2005.) Loved mother of Vicki of Toronto, Peter of Thornbury, Jim of Wasaga Beach and Charlie of Oakville. Sadly missed Grandma of Bart and Holly. Dear sister of Heather PRYMA of Brampton and sister-in-law of Eva SALOMON of Austria and predeceased by a brother Jim SHOWELL of Clarksburg and fondly remembered by their families. Died peacefully at the California Veterans Homes, Yountville, California on Friday, November 9, 2007. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis, children Peter, Robin, Shannon and Scott, and three grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his sisters Mary Lou PRYOR, Eleanor DAVIS and brother David RENNICKS. Predeceased by his parents James and Elizabeth RENNICKS, brother John RENNICKS and sister Ruth NOLAND.
