Eugene
Eugene OAKANEE, (B.Sc.1992, University of Saskatchewan,) LL.B.
(1998, University of Toronto) passed away at the Toronto General
Hospital on November 18th, in his 39th year, shortly after undergoing
surgery. Eugene was a member of Thunderchild First Nation in
Saskatchewan, but practiced criminal law in Toronto for the last
10 years, after clerking at Saskatchewan's Court of Appeal. He
was predeceased by his father, William (1978), his brothers,
Howard (2000) and Gary (1952), and is survived by his mother,
Nancy (Allan), siblings Jerry (Lorna), Eldon (Laura), Pauline,
Linda and Karen (Gary), and a large extended family. Eugene will
be missed by his family, by many members of the legal community
across Canada, and
by Toronto's Aboriginal community, which he
served and represented with dedication, skill, and passion. Eugene's
funeral was held at Thunderchild First Nation on November 23,
2007. A memorial will be held at the University of Toronto, Faculty
of Law, Flavelle House (Solarium) on Saturday, December 8, 2007
at 2: 00 p.m.

on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 in his 84th year.

Friends called at the Garrett Funeral Chapel, Neustadt on Saturday
from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service was held
at the Neustadt Baptist Church on Sunday, July 29, at 3: 00 p.m.
with Rev. Dean
OAKES officiating.

November 28, 2007 in Toronto. She is lovingly remembered by her
