Peacefully in his eighty third year with his family by his side.
Beloved husband to Freida for 60 years. Adored brother to Anne
Marie; father and grandfather to John and Renee; Karen, Bob and
their children Taren, Jamie and Kirby; Susan, Alan and their
children Rebecca, Jennifer and Kristabel; Pamela and her children
Kirsten and Hana. He was a loving and dedicated family man who
will always be remembered for his strength, tenacity and passionate
commitment to the people and community he loved. He was a pioneer
in plastic and reconstructive surgery in the Hamilton area who
practiced from 1956 to 1988. He touched the lives of many grateful
patients and assisted in mentoring and training many aspiring
surgeons. In lieu of a public service the family has established
the Doctor Orville J. Mirehouse Trust of McMaster University which
will provide annual bursaries to students pursuing the medical
arts. Charitable donations may be made to the Doctor Orville J.

passed away on June 24, 2007, at age 86, after a brief battle
with cancer. Beloved husband of 44 years to Lucille, father to

in Washington, D.C., he sailed in the U.S. Merchant Marine during
and after World War 2 and published more than 14 novels in 150 separate
editions and a dozen languages, including: A House of Her Own
(1953), The Eternal Voyagers (1953), Texana (1954), The Long
Watch (1954), Red Sky At Midnight (1955), Woman in a Room (1959),
Two Women, Two Worlds (1960), Dust on the Sea (1960), Point of
Impact (1961), Cleared Narvik 2000 (1962), The Last Capitalist
(1963), Business is People (1963), There You Are But Where Are
You? (1964), and Holy Loch (1964). Survived by his wife, children,
