Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital in his 63rd year. Beloved companion and friend of Frances WILSON. Loving father of Brad LIPSKIE and his wife Lynn of Wellesley, Steven LIPSKIE and his wife Shannon of Kitchener and Joanne MIRANDA and her husband Norm of Paris. Cherished grandfather of Julia, Owen, Mitchell, Carter and Madison. Dear brother of Jim LIPSKIE, Gloria GRAHAM and her husband Russ, Donna CHARTRAND and her husband Rene, Sharon MARTIN and her husband Roger. Predeceased by his parents Harvey and Dorothy and by his brother Dennis. Doug's family will receive relatives and Friends on Friday, October 26th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A funeral service to celebrate Doug's life will be held at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 248 Highland Rd. E., Kitchener on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. Interment at Williamsburg Cemetery followed by a reception at the Romanian Cultural Centre-Banatul (2150 Bleams Rd.). Loving mother of James, Georgina and her husband Stelios DIMAKOS and Peter and his friend Corinna. Loving grandmother of Angelina Maria. Loving daughter of Matina TOMBROS and the late Peter TOMBROS. Dear sister of Aphrodite (Dee) and her husband Mark TURK and Jim TOMBROS and his partner Debbie. Dear sister-in-law of Steve GAVARIS and his wife Maria and Chris GAVARIS and his wife Shelley. Loving aunt of Nicholas, Sophia, Jenna, Jordan, Alexis and Bethany. Loving niece of Jim MIRAS and his wife Sophia and George LAGOGIANES and his wife Betty. Peacefully in his eighty third year with his family by his side. Beloved husband to Freida for 60 years. Adored brother to Anne Marie; father and grandfather to John and Renee; Karen, Bob and their children Taren, Jamie and Kirby; Susan, Alan and their children Rebecca, Jennifer and Kristabel; Pamela and her children Kirsten and Hana. He was a loving and dedicated family man who will always be remembered for his strength, tenacity and passionate commitment to the people and community he loved. He was a pioneer in plastic and reconstructive surgery in the Hamilton area who practiced from 1956 to 1988. He touched the lives of many grateful patients and assisted in mentoring and training many aspiring surgeons. In lieu of a public service the family has established the Doctor Orville J. Mirehouse Trust of McMaster University which will provide annual bursaries to students pursuing the medical arts. Charitable donations may be made to the Doctor Orville J. Unexpectedly, on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, surrounded by his loved ones at Saint_Joseph's Health Centre. Beloved husband of the late Joan TEGLAS and loving father of the late Catherine (Jason DUCHARME.) Also loving father of Joy (John CHROBOK), Ann (Michael HORTON), Michael (Dorota MIREK) and Trevor (Jack.) Cherished companion of Kristin GISLADOTTIR. Dear brother of living siblings John, Etus and Boris. Much adored grandpa of Michael and Sarah; Jade Jennifer, Thomas and William; Julia and Andrew. We are forever grateful to our dad for teaching us to have the courage to love, the importance of family and the constant reminder to keep life simple as Dad's poem so eloquently illustrates… I am becoming simplified. To become less is better. I yearn to be free of matter. I want liberation from my senses, from all bodily pretenses. From achievement, from pain and pleasure: from time, space and matter. Simple is better. We love you Dad! Author, playwright, producer and U.S. Merchant Marine radio officer passed away on June 24, 2007, at age 86, after a brief battle with cancer. Beloved husband of 44 years to Lucille, father to Anthony and John, and grandfather of Benjamin, James, Matthew and Catherine. Brother of Edwin 'Honest Ed' MIRVISH and Lorraine LAZARUS. son of David MIRVISH and Anna KORNHAUSER. Born in 1921, in Washington, D.C., he sailed in the U.S. Merchant Marine during and after World War 2 and published more than 14 novels in 150 separate editions and a dozen languages, including: A House of Her Own (1953), The Eternal Voyagers (1953), Texana (1954), The Long Watch (1954), Red Sky At Midnight (1955), Woman in a Room (1959), Two Women, Two Worlds (1960), Dust on the Sea (1960), Point of Impact (1961), Cleared Narvik 2000 (1962), The Last Capitalist (1963), Business is People (1963), There You Are But Where Are You?
