MARTON DE
MURANYVAR,
Tibor
Konrad
(March 17, 1928-October 13, 2007)
Passed away quietly and with dignity in the company of his loving
wife Irma
MARTON and his children Les and Audrey. "Napi's" memory
will be cherished by his grandchildren James, Alexandra (Lexi)
and little Christopher, who were blessed and enriched for having
enjoyed his warm hugs and wise counsel. He will be missed by
his brother Miklos
MARTON and his sister Sara
MIHALYI, along
with his nieces and nephews living in New Jersey and Hungary.
Tibor was born in Szeged, Hungary, the second of 4 children of
Dr. Lazlo and Sara
MARTON. He met his beloved wife
Irma in 1955 and
together the following year they escaped the turmoil of the Hungarian
Revolution. They were wed in Vienna, Austria in 1957, shortly
thereafter embarking on a journey of emigration to their new
homeland Canada. Tibor found work first in Vancouver and then
with the Canadian National Railway in Prince Rupert, British
Columbia where Les was born. Moving back across Canada two years
later, they settled in Toronto where Tibor completed his engineering
studies and commenced a distinguished career as a civil engineer
for the City of Toronto's Public Works department. Following
his retirement in 1993, Tibor enjoyed travelling with Irma, playing
tennis, sailing and entertaining his Friends with his unique
sense of humour. Above all else, Tibor took great pride and pleasure
in his family life. With Irma by his side, he forged a loving
bond with each of his grandchildren. They lit up his life and
he, theirs.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the
staff at Saint Michael's Hospital Palliative Care Unit, where Tibor
spent the final weeks of his life. The genuine warmth and steadfast
compassion shown by the nurses, volunteer staff and doctors made
his final home as comfortable as possible.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday October 18, 2007
at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel 2357 Bloor St. W. (east of
the Jane subway) with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers
the family would encourage donations to Saint Michael's Hospital
Palliative Care Unit.
