On Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at North York General Hospital. Pesia HIRSZ loving wife of the late Markus HIRSZ. Beloved and devoted mother and mother-in-law of Abe and Peggy SOLOMON, and Clara HIRSCH and Jon ALLEN. Caring grandmother of Marci, Rebecca, Hannah, Jake, and A.J. Beloved aunt to nieces and nephews. She is the last surviving MICFLIKIER from Reiwitz, Poland. She persevered many losses with strength and courage. Special thanks to Esther and Evelyn and staff at the L'Chaim Retirement. At Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West (3 lights west of Dufferin), for service on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 10: 00 a.m. Interment to follow in Winnipeg on Friday in the Rosh Pina Cemetery. Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, July 7th, 2007 at age 70 at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie. Beloved husband of Fay (née ELLIS) MacPHAIL. Loving father of Peter (Tina) MacPHAIL. Pamela (Charles) COX, Jill (Rod) MICHALKO. Cherished bubba of James, Lauren, Matthew, Sarah, Brett and Ross. Ken grew up in Priceville, Ontario and attended Flesherton High School where he met Fay ELLIS, his wife of 48 years. Ken retired after 35 years of distinguished service as a manager with Bell Canada in Toronto. Ken's passions in life were his family his career and fly fishing the Saugeen River. In Montreal, on October 11, 2007, Gaëtan C. MORRISSETTE passed away peacefully at the age of 97. He was the husband of the late Lilliane BILODEAU and of Françoise STRINGER. He will be missed by his wife Françoise, his children Lise (Roch DUFRESNE,) Paul (Hélène LALIME,) Jean (Margot MICHAUD) and Pierre; his grandchildren Suzanne, Claire (Robert RODFORD), Julie, Sylvie (Jean-Philippe MORIN,) Natalie (Philippe BOISVERT,) Michael and Marc; his great-grandchildren Alexie, Lilianne, Ariane, Sacha, Benjamin, Emily and Ryan, and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces and Friends. He will be remembered for his long and prestigious career with Standard Brands Limited (later Nabisco Brands Limited) from 1930 to 1988. He served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer from 1961 to 1975, Chairman of the Board (1975-1983) and Honorary Chairman of the Board (1983-1988). Funeral service will be held at noon, Wednesday October 17, 2007 at Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, 4525 chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges, Montreal (Quebec) H3V 1E7 (1 888-342-6565). Close friend to former husband Terry. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Nelida and sisters Annette, Alice, Gaby, and brother Pierre. Survived by sister Lucille, and brothers Jean, Will and Jacques. Born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, on February 28, 1929, Jackie grew up in Ottawa and Fredericton where her father served as a federal Liberal Cabinet Minister under Prime Minister MacKenzie King and later as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Brunswick. After attending University in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, she married in 1958 and moved to Oshawa where she lived until moving to Toronto two years ago. She enjoyed her summers at her beloved family cottage in Lac Baker, New Brunswick There will be a private funeral service. Peacefully, and with characteristic grace, in her eighty-eighth year, following a fifteen-day illness, on 4 July 2007, at University Hospital in London, Ontario. Born 6 October 1919 in Adelaide Township, Middlesex County; third of four children of Walter and Eva BOWLEY. Graduate of Strathroy Collegiate Institute and of Westervelt College in London. Lived vibrantly, generously, kindly, affectionately. Loving wife for nearly fifty years of Jack STRUTHERS of London (d. 1991) and, later, loving partner for over eleven years of William BOWIE of Grand Bend (d. 2006.) Predeceased, too, by her elder sister, Mary BOWLEY, her older sister, Anne KEMP, her younger brother, Walter BOWLEY, and by other Friends, among them, her older sister's husband, Jim KEMP, Fred and Jean Hammerton, Win Schell.
Loving mother of Doctor J.R. (Tim) STRUTHERS and ever-appreciative friend of his wife, Doctor Marianne MICROS, both professors of English at The University of Guelph. Loving and especially proud grandmother of their daughters Eleni KAPETANIOS and Joy STRUTHERS, and fond friend of their respective partners, Dan BORTOLLON and Rob STEFANYK, all of Guelph. Loving aunt of Penn KEMP, of Jamie KEMP, of Frank, Marc, Joel, and Luke BOWLEY. Mentor and friend to many others. Herself now repeating, as her mother had said to her, "I will always be with you." And she will. All those around her being reassured, made finer, made resplendent, by her presence.
